  1. The team in 2013 with Fielder under contract will look a lot like the team in 2010, only with less money available for pitching. We won't have Greinke and Marcum anymore because that money will be tied up with Fielder and our other "core" players and as of right now we don't have anyone in the minors that looks to be a #1 or #2 type starter by 2013. The money is much better spent on Greinke and/or Marcum. Fielder is just not a smart sign in my opinion, because of the money, because of his defense, and because of the likelihood that he will regress faster than the average player (see Cecil). Unless he gives Milwaukee a major discount (which Boras won't want), it's just not a smart signing. And getting rid of Corey Hart puts another hole in our offense, even if his current contract is a little bit high. Compare Hart's contract to Werth or Bay and the numbers that they are putting up. Even a World Series win isn't going to buy more than a few years max of a Fielder extension.
  2. So true about the lack of pressure. When the stats guys say there is no thing as a clutch hitter they should use Nyjer Morgan and this June 8th game as an example.
  3. I can't believe that 3rd strike to Weeks. Marcum has had that same pitch called a ball several times tonight.
  4. McGehee needs to chill out in the batter's box and take a few walks. Start seeing the baseball better.
  5. This is the MLB.tv "free game of the week" on mlb.com. Also, on mlb.com homepage is live draft coverage.
  6. And don't forget that Lucroy got hit in the side of the head with a bat yesterday. Batting him in the 8 hole might save him the effort of an extra AB. But not starting Hart makes me a little upset.
  7. Not as fortunate as my state (Montana) which has no sales tax on anything. Sorry, but that makes me happy.
  8. Hall definitely did communicate through his agent at one point that he wanted to be traded. That was at a point a few years after his 35 HR year and the fans were already getting on his case at that point. Hall is a fantastic athlete and part of me wants to see him back in Milwaukee to try and bring back some of that 2006 magic, but at this point in his career he's not much more than a platoon 2B or utility bench player. I think his defense would be an upgrade over Yuni and/or McGehee, but I question how much of an upgrade his bat would be. Still bringing in Hall wouldn't be the worst thing that happened to this bench.
  9. I was basing that on the Marlins broadcast, where the announcers said that nobody was warming up in the bullpen and then suddenly they seemed surprised to see Braddock coming into the game. I can only go off what the broadcast shows me. I'm not sure if you were calling me out, but I gave RR credit for his moves that inning.
  10. Wow that was intense. The moves that RR made that inning were the right ones, he just needs to give Braddock a little more time to warm up.
  11. Can we get a decent LOOGY in the bullpen for situations like Votto/Bruce?
  12. Ok, it's official. I love Nyjer Morgan. That HBP was Biggioesque.
  13. I didn't either...how did Doug miss that guy? I don't think Doug was our GM at that point.
  14. It could be worse offensively. Alcides' so far this year: .220/.258/.258/.516 OK, not that much worse, but at least Yuni has a few HRs.
  15. I would think that the White Sox will let Danks pitch through his struggles. He has too much of a track record for the Sox to trade him away at this point when is value is probably as low as it's going to be.
  16. Who do you want to hit 5th, Betancourt, Lucroy or Gomez? I think he's the best option in the 5th spot right now. A day off might be warranted, but I don't like the other options to hit 5th.
  17. That ball was in the air for a LONG time off of Prince's bat. Nice 1B.
  18. Let's just put some empty buckets on the left side of the infield.
  19. It looked like an error to me too, but credit Gomez for making it all the way home. Fun to watch.
  20. Kind of an overreaction from Pat the Bat on that 1st inning strikeout.
