  1. No, it's because rookies usually don't have to slide on that hit.
  2. I think Morgan would have caught that ball and at the very least made a play on it. Kotsay took one step forward and then decided to wait for it to bounce to him.
  3. To get this kind of performance from Narveson is a huge benefit, especially with the rotation missing a #1.
  4. After the triple he says, "I don't know whether we signed Nyjer Morgan or Tony Plush." BA then went on to describe the Tony Plush alter ego.
  5. According to Melvin, Lucroy is the closest to coming back and Hart is the furthest away.
  6. 6 or 7 of those pitches were out of the zone, and you can't really blame Garza, I wouldn't throw him a strike. Nice play by Morgan!! I'm not sure he needed to jump, but it looked good.
  7. Wow, that is a great link. Whether it's warranted or not, I still hold a little resentment towards Wes Helms and I love his comments on Nyjer Morgan. Morgan seems to be the type of player who really feeds off of positive feedback, and conversely negative feedback, and the Brewer fans have been nothing but supportive of him so far. Hopefully he can help fill some of the void that currently exists in the batting order at number 2,6, and 7. It could be a huge push for this team. We already know he is willing to lay out for a ball in RF.
  8. That's terrible for Iowa. And most of the people I know from Iowa are big baseball fans. Come move to Montana. I can't remember the last time I was blacked out.......maybe a Saturday afternoon game.
  9. Tommy Hanson gave up the 5th highest percentage of steals last year for a pitcher (89% successful). You think the Brewers will be running?
  10. Nice running catch by Morgan. With Kotsay that might have been an RBI double.
  11. Maybe Estrada has finally settled down. 2 groundballs and a 1-2-3 inning is a good sign. And yes, someone should tell Gomez that he's not a good bunter.
  12. They need to come back from commercial a little quicker if Betancourt is leading off the inning.
  13. I love a leadoff walk. Minor doesn't have the greatest control and he's probably a little jumpy today. Hopefully we can take some pitches tonight.
  14. For all the grief Gomez gets, not a lot of players can make that play. Good dig and nice accurate throw. Nice work by Nieves to hold on to the ball.
  15. It's fun to see Morgan hussle to third base on a routine blooper to right center field.
  16. Uggla out stealing on a terrible throw and earlier Counsell was safe stealing when the throw beat him by a mile. SBs are funny.
  17. He went from a .367 wOBA in 394 PAs in 2009 to .346 wOBA in 670 PAs in 2010. In what world is that a "significant" drop off while you're arguing about the definition of "fantastic"? If I see McGehee on the street I'm going to tell him I think he's fantastic. You can tell him he's ok. BTW, I've never been a huge McGehee supporter (see the McGehee extension thread), but you can't argue with the return on his current contract.
  18. I'm not sure I see your reasoning behind arguably the team's best hitter leaving and the team somehow getting better? With the Marinier's teams of the late '90's and early '00's, A-Rod and Griffey departed, but at the same time they upgraded their offense and pitching to make up for these loses. When we lose Fielder's production, the team will get worse unless we have a plan to upgrade in other areas, in part with money we save through not signing Fielder.
  19. I'm predicting a Prince Fielder homerun and a Brewer victory. I'm going to work and when I get back, I hope at least the latter of those two predictions is correct.
  20. Here is what the National League leaders in wOBA look like over the last 2 years: .383 - Zimmerman .366 - Wright .356 - Reynolds .356 - Sandoval .353 - McGehee We know he is not a good defender, but would you really be willing to offer a multiyear deal to a 3B for an upgrade defensively? Maybe at SS something like that is reasonable where there is little separation between players offensive production (aside from Tulo and H-Ram), but with a third baseman I'll take what McGehee is giving us at his price. Yes he could fall off offensively, but so could any of the other position players. Who do you anticipate will come along to as an upgrade to McGehee?
