Completely correct. They are analyzing it on MLB Network right now. There was no way Prince would've gotten Werth even if he got it out of his glove cleanly. No way.On top of that, who didn't see Werth stealing 3rd base from a mile away? McGehee was nowhere close to third base on that play either and Braddock didn't make much of an effort to keep him on second. We know how fast Werth is. Where is Roenicke reinforcing these things in a tie ballgame in the 10th inning?

The Nats TV guys make a good point that even with 5 infielders, no one was holding Werth on 3rd base and his lead was HUGE. Did you see how far McGehee was away from the bag?

I hadn't heard that and decided to google it. Here is a link to the story of the Werth and Morgan argument. I don't know what to think, but I never had a very positive view of Werth.

Especially when the proposed solution is to bat McGehee, a guy who drove in 100 runs last year, in the 8th spot. Anyone who quotes RBIs is a joke in my book. RBIs is the most worthless stat in baseball. Have guys on ahead of you and you are bound to get RBIs.Welcome to Brewerfan.net, Brian. You make a fair point about RBIs not being a good measure of a player, but in your first post you seem to be judging McGehee on only his 38 PA for the year. It is important to look at a players overall performance over a long period of time to make a judgement on what type of hitter he is and make a reasonable prediction on his future production. On top of that, 11 games is a small sample to judge a team based on wins and losses. Specifically 2 of the games were lost on bad performaces by the bullpen. The Brewers could just as easily be 8-3 right now with the same offensive production and this thread would probably not have been started. The most important thing, as others have said, is to get the starters back and healthy. Almost this identical lineup was the 2nd or 3rd best offense last year in the NL and it has that same potential for this year, and maybe a slight improvement with Nyjer Morgan and Yuni instead of Escobar.

That's a good effort by Morgan, but I hope he doesn't end up injuring himself.

I think it's really funny that Kotsay's entire at bat was BA and Rock talking about Nyjer Morgan and showing Nyjer Morgan highlights.

With most positions you have more separation between the top tier players and lower quality players. At catcher there seems to a large grouping of veteran backup/AAAA type catchers. You have your no hitting/little fielding backups like Nieves, your little hitting/no fielding backups like Kottaras and your no fielding/no hitting sand-in-teeth backups like Jason Kendall. Is a guy like Henry Blanco, who is currently getting ABs in the majors, a better option for a team then Will Nieves? Probably not, but not so much so that Kevin Towers is going to give up major league talent to get Will Nieves to bat one day a week. In my mind it doesn't serve the Brewers to have 3 catchers unless were playing doubleheaders everyday.

I would think that Prince is bunting on his own and probably only feigning anyway. No way he bunts in the 7th with two outs and Kotsay batting behind him.
