  1. Ken Rosenthal apparently reported (LINK) that Gallardo would indeed go on Monday if necessary, for what its worth.
  2. I think you're looking for the North Side Baseball website. Left after the 6th in as tight a playoff race as possible, booed your own players, a career Brewer in potentially his last game in Milwaukee. I don't care how good he was at baseball or how often injured, this attitude is the type of fan that brings the fan base down in status.
  3. Oh, BTW, I'm sure it has been discussed, but are we sure he is a sports agent? Yes. Whoever is moved in the deal obviously depends on whether the Brewers make the playoffs, so our friendly agent couldn't possibly know. In addition, neither club is going to call either the agent or the player at this particular point to tell them which direction they are leaning. I also agree with Jack, Agent 39 may be stretching the truth on purpose, but for what reason I do not understand. Don't forget, he has been wrong in the past as I read these posts as a newbie. Josh is a lot more connected than any of us to the situation. No, he may not know officially, but he's probably got some pretty good info that he's very kind to pass along to us. Sure, he could be pulling our leg, but 1) why? we're just a message board and 2) he's not even saying that much, just a few hints. Its fine to be a bit skeptic, but let's not talk down at him like you know more than he does.
  4. Here's what's going to happen: Mets sprinkle a run or two in a few of the early innings, going up 4-1 by the 5th. Santana runs into trouble in the 6th, but only gives up one run, 4-2. In the 7th, the Marlins break out the bats and score 3, taking the lead, but the Mets answer with one in the bottom. So the 8th inning starts at 5-5, just as the Brewers are getting underway. And that's all I can say at this point. I'll have to wait for another message. A message from myself.
  5. He has done quite well with the pitching staff, though over a small number of games like this a few good performances will make any manager look like a genius. But yes, its encouraging. Though its very early, its looking like I may like how he handles pitchers way better than Ned (hard not too), but I'll dislike his offensive strategy just as much or more.
  6. Yes, and its not close. I am not crazy about 3 consecutive starts on short rest. But until you are in, you are not in. And if you are not in, there is no reason to save anyone for anything. The potential tie breaker is just that - it amounts to a 163rd game on the schedule. If you treat it like a 163 game schedule, then it would make sense to just pencil Sabathia in for his start on regular rest - the 163rd game. If we happen to clinch before then, in the 162nd game, then yay, we can rest Sabathia because we don't even have to play in the 163rd.
  7. I sure hope Sheets is healthy. A sub par Sheets could be as bad as a September Suppan. Here's a question for everyone: If Sunday rolls around and we are leading the WC by one game, do you start Sabathia? We could rest him for the playoffs, hoping that whoever else we start can get the job done, or the Mets lose and it doesn't matter. Worst case is we go to a one game playoff with Sabathia on regular rest.
  8. Nothing real Brewer specific: Regular Fire Joe Morgan Semi-regular The Hardball Times Baseball Analysts Minor League Ball (John Sickles) Occasional Brew Crew Ball 39 On The Line - Josh's (agent39) Blog
  9. #3 is the most likely scenario, Chris. Though what concerns me is the postseason - Lamb is ineligible. Might Branyan be back for next week?
  10. I thought it started slow but picked up quickly. Dwight seemed different to me - there was zilch suck up, and wasn't he the one not losing weight? Almost a darker version of Dwight. EDIT: And I was getting nervous there about Jim and Pam, and my prediction being correct - she was making new friends, hitting it off with that guy. Glad they made it official, pleasant surprise. Still curious to see how Pam's time in New York plays out. Something has to happen there.
  11. Groan. I'd imagine we've got Counsell there for the remainder? Oof, if this is correct, that blows big time.

  13. Who's that guy in the top right of the big picture there, in the t-shirt and the backwards cap?
  14. Per Josh's blog: Saw that Mat Gamel got hurt during his callup which could mean that Taylor Green will be replacing him in the AFL thus running my count of AFL guys to 7.
  15. I would like to see the stats that show the Brewers bullpen as average. Maybe they exist but at least from a fans perspective the bullpen has been far from average. What the crap does this even mean? From a fans perspective? That's just a silly statement.
  16. I heard the Pacific North West is actually pretty nice.
  17. Wow, look at those 8th and 9th LI's for the Mets. I count 7 at 5+ LI, and they did nothing with them.
  18. Giving up outs is the opposite of scoring more runs, both through base stealing and bunting. And the numbers have been floating around all over this forum. EDIT: But nobody has said its bad in all situations, or at least they probably shouldn't have.
  19. 90 % may not know the Brewers' AA club is in Huntsville, but most would know what state Huntsville is in. Brevard County is another matter, who knows county names? If you knew they were in the Florida State League, it wouldn't be hard to figure out.
  20. I'm definitely getting a Lawrie T-Rats jersey at one of my many attendances.
  21. I was there, and I think the crowd had kind of the same attitude as the people in the "Giving up on the season" thread have/had - it'll be great to make the playoffs, but I'm not getting my hopes up and I'm going to treat it like just another game. When we were in big situations, people were up on their feet, and it was pretty loud. While we were losing, just sitting back and enjoying the chance to watch baseball, but not going to get emotionally wrapped up in it type dealio. Booing was average, my section let Mota have it a bit. I actually wasn't able to get there until the 3rd, so I didn't hear Bush's reception in the 2nd.
  22. Seriously Russ, that is a statistical argument you can not win. I don't think he ever said that a ball in play out is always worse than a strikeout. I think he was just illustrating how strikeouts are not nearly as bad as often advertised - one of the "benefits" of a strikeout over a BIP is it removes the possibility of a DP. Anyone would take the guy with less strikeouts, all else equal. And not that its going to change the conclusion of your numbers, but you can't compare the quantities of strikeouts to double plays directly because they have different values. If a double play was 10 times worse than a strikeout (its not, just demonstrating) and for one player occurs 5% of the time, while another player strikeout 45% of the time, it would still make the guy who strikeouts 45% of the time more valuable, all else equal.
  23. I think we should start doing more Baltimore Chops. Maybe that's the key.
