  1. Sitting in 7th place currently, tied in the loss column but one win back of chicago for 6th, and only one full game out of 5th, toronto. Will be a very exciting end of the season I think.
  2. So, does the depth chart now look a little like: C - Bogut, Brezec, K Thomas PF - Luc , Ersan, K Thomas SF - Delfino, Stackhouse SG - Salmons , Bell PG - Jennings , Ridnour , Ivey ? I actually like the deals, I think it makes the team a little more well-rounded and opens minutes for Luc and Ersan with Warrick out of the way. Combined deals: Leaving: Hakim Warrick Joe Alexander Francisco Elson Jodie Meeks Incoming: John Salmons Primoz Brezec Royal Ivey option to switch 2010 first round pick with Bulls (if Bulls pick is not top 10) 2010 2nd rounder (76ers, or other?) 2011 Bulls 2nd rounder 2012 Bulls 2nd rounder Nothing spectacular by any means, but solid moves I think, those 2nd rounders can turn out some nice surprises as shown lately. I wish Meeks would have had a little longer of a look, as I think he's got some upside, but all the rest are expirings, both coming in and going out, other than Salmons and hopefully he stays with his player option (I think he has one?)
  3. My girlfriend and her parents bought me a pair of signed game worn Alcides Escobar batting gloves, ontop of the Ryan Braun auto'd All Star game ball from New York for my b-day this past year, .... and they're Phillies fans, I'm guessing she's a keeper
  4. I hope the Bucks focus on Damion James, Patrick Patterson, Da'Sean Butler, Quincey Pondexter, or Wesley Johnson in the first round. Seems to me they need an athletic 3/4 type of guy who can score
  5. Gary Matthews Jr Part II ?
  6. Cubillian is a Communications major who interned with ESPN Deportes out of Milwaukee this past summer and missed a bunch of summer open gyms with the new guys because of it
  7. I believe he would have still been eligible 2nd semester for basketball even if his grades were bad 1st semester. I think he would have been on probation and would have had to bring them up second semester to be eligible for the beginning of the '10-'11 season. This is how guys like Carmelo Anthony (one and done) can play the full season without ever attending a class. First semester they're in the clear, second semester they play while being on probation - then out the door. Although, I give a ton of props to Carmelo for donating all that money to Syracuse to help build a new practice facility in his name, and the kid only spent one year there and is only 25 years old.
  8. nice to see you pick taht up when i say something like that, but i see about 50 other things similar and not one thing is said, thanks
  9. T BONE , read the posts from guys like jwill535 and you will understand why MU fans hate Wisconsin, it's guys like him who give UW a bad name and think they are king $h*# of the state, the Ivy-League of the midwest, etc etc. I got accepted to both UW and MU and chose MU because MU had a lot better business program that I was looking to get into. I'm not saying there aren't people that give MU a bad name either, because there a bunch of them as well, I'm sure I can come across as one as well.
  10. yeah, such a good win, when you're playing 8 on 5 at home, give me a break
  11. Thanks for the post bucks, I was thinking of shoving a $20 in my pocket tomorrow night and see where that could land me going solo as well
  12. how come no one is adding villanueva in the bullpen?
  13. Sorry, I didn't mean to include "Dadofandrew"s part of your quote with what i was quoting. I really wanted to just get that first line you said, because I think that nails it right on the head. It's so easy to be a jerk over the internet, but for what? We're getting very interesting inside information from both coach and agent39, but yet everyone wants to rip them a new one. Why no respect? They've done nothing but show us respect and I don't get it. I would have no problem if someone disagreed with them, and called them out as possibly being biased or whatever, but you can do that respectfully. It seems everyone here is very knowledgeable in terms of baseball, so I don't get why we just can't have a knowledgeable and RESPECTFUL conversation about it. I guess some people just have their own grumpy agendas and it's sad.
  14. "It really is easy to be a jerk when you can just do it over the internet" No kidding, what has ever happened to any RESPECT on this message over the last couple of years? I'm 23 and have been an avid reader for 6 years now, when I first went away to college. The one thing that really drew me to this board were the intelligent people and respect people gave each other, as well as the proper grammer instead of "internet lingo." Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean you have to be a complete jerk to them. Why can't you just politely point out where you agree with them and have a normal conversation instead of all this mud-slinging going on. It's unreal. That's what was so special about this board (to me at least) about 3-4 years ago, people had good conversations and debates even though they didn't agree 100% with each other. Childish. Unreal. Sickening.
  15. Type B Free Agents don't cost draft picks to sign, the Rangers would receive one, but it wouldn't cost the Brewers one
  16. I would for sure take the package the Rangers got from the Braves for Teixeira, and that was at the deadline in '07, which would be similar if the Brewers dealt Prince at the deadline this year in terms of service time/free agency looming. I'd gladly take a similar package of Saltalamacchia, Andrus, Neftali Feliz, Matt Harrison, and Beau Jones

GP AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BA OBP SLG OPS 162 713 104 175 47 7 20 296 81 0.245 0.294 0.415 0.709 162 666 115 204 45 11 17 322 76 0.306 0.376 0.483 0.86 162 613 123 173 27 4 36 316 103 0.282 0.392 0.515 0.908 162 634 106 175 38 4 44 353 141 0.276 0.357 0.557 0.914 162 611 106 155 35 3 39 313 109 0.254 0.345 0.512 0.857 162 624 90 169 34 3 29 296 84 0.271 0.343 0.474 0.818 162 623 71 166 29 2 15 244 88 0.266 0.313 0.392 0.704 162 554 58 133 38 1 16 221 61 0.24 0.337 0.399 0.736 This is a breakdown of the Phillies offense, which lead the NL in runs scored, by position in the batting order. I think this is a pretty good idea of what the Brewers should try to aim for. In the leadoff role, I think Escobar would have no problem putting up a line of .245/.294/.415/.709 next year. The #2 and #5 holes are what get tricky, as I believe Braun and Fielder can again match 3Utley/4Howard in 2010. Would the platoon situation of Geret and Hart be able to post a line of .306/.376/.483 in 2010 with Hart's poor on-base skills? Geret's career line vs RHP is .279/.339/.463/.803. And for the #5 spot, I think Weeks would fall a bit short of that line in 2010 even if he stays healthy the whole year, but the avg and obp look about what Weeks could do, just not quite the slugging. I really think McGehee, or perferably Gamel, would be able to post the line out of the 6 spot, and i think whoever is brought in to catch could match the output of the 7 hole. With Gomez hitting in front of the pitcher, and Svuem helping Gomez learn some plate discipline as he really helped out Braun for 2009 draw more walks, I think Gomez could reach those numbers out of the 8 spot as well, along with a little platoon action with Geret(CF)/Hart(RF) with one hitting in the 2 hole and the other in the 8. Just thought that was an interesting comparision, seeing as they have just made 2 straight World Series, and lead the NL in runs scored in 2009
  18. This is what I would hope for as of now, although I know they would never do this: 1. Escobar SS 2. Geret/Hart RHP/LHP platoon RF 3. Braun LF 4. Fielder 1B 5. Weeks 2B 6. Gamel 3B 7. Catcher (Salome/LuCroy/Olivo/Doumit/ aka whoever they end up getting) 8. Gomez CF i'd love to see that lineup gel in 2010 and then watch it grow even more in 2011 after a year of experience together, seeing as that whole lineup would still be under control for 2011 (other than Geret/Hart)
  19. This is exactly how I feel. I actually like the trade, but that's been beatin' on for the past 18 pages. The problem I see, has been aparent since Gamel was first called up in '09. Macha and Melvin do not see eye-to-eye on anything involving personel decisions it seems. The Brewers' need these young guys like Gamel, Escobar, LuCroy, Salome, etc to play key roles in future teams, we can't keep going out and getting veterans for Macha to play because it's just not affordable for the Brewers. I really think the possible starting 8 this coming year could look like : C - unknown/FA signee/Salome/LuCroy/hopefully not Kendall 1B - Fielder ; 2B - Weeks ; 3B - I wish Gamel, but probably McGehee ; SS - Escobar ; LF - Braun ; CF - Gomez ; RF - Geret/Hart platoon I think Geret has easily outperformed Hart over the past two years. Geret's numbers after the all-star break this past year were solid 279/.343/.459/.802. I'd also like to see Geret start a handful of games in CF vs righties, giving Hart a few starts vs righties as well. If you figure you get roughly 700 PA between both CF and RF that would total 1400 PA, each of the three could get roughly 450 PAs, with Geret getting all of his vs RHP and none vs LHP, allowing Gomez and Hart to see all of the lefties
  20. No one has mentioned this, but how about Escobar's defensive play in Arizona (I believe on September 13th) where he ranges into the hole towards 3rd base and makes an unbelievable throw to Prince at 1st to just nab the runner
  21. i'd be down for a jersey or two or three if you go through with this as well
  22. I agree they should/will offer him arby. However, homer, you have it wrong, if he declines, the Brewers don't automatically get a draft pick. Someone needs to sign him first to receive a draft pick or draft picks. If he becomes a type A free agent, which I think he might be at this time, teams might be a little more reluctant to sign him.
  23. Looks like they are just trying to get some guys some work? (hopefully) as Rapoza just went 2 as well, and now Rivas went 2 too. Letting guys toe the rubber one last time before playoffs begin?
  24. And it was Melvin's fault their owner forced him to sign A-Rod to that 10 year $252 million deal that handcuffed what he was able to do with the rest of the roster. I know he made some other big-priced mistakes there (Chan Ho Park I thinK?) but he wasn't able to do much else after that A-Rod deal was done, he has a nice solid core of young players right now, and another solid wave of position players coming up - a few at the high levels (Escobar, Gamel, Salome, Lucroy, and Cain hopefully) and then a lot more at the A+/A level including Schafer, Lawrie, Gindl, and more. They just need some pitching to catch the wave from the lower levels and carry all the way to the top. After stockpiling so many pitchers through the last 2 drafts, some of them have to work out. There are also a handful of guys in the upper-levels who could help out in 2010 or 2011, but they're alot more risky, like Braddock, Rogers, Jones, Jeffress, Wooten, and Axford. That isn't the sexiest bunch, but they could potentially help fill some holes. I'm not saying they're going to be World Series contenders next year, but he has them set up to stay very competitive for at least the next 5 years, and if a few guys pan out, a trade or two works out, a few solid signings here or there to fill some needed holes and catch a couple breaks, they can make another very strong push just like they did last year. We're the Brewers, not the Yankees or Red Sox who can go and spend $150 million + every year on payroll
