rymer liriano is now on the roster. birth records legit? or another imposter? he's from the dr, so we'll wait and see. the roster is full, 'cos it's set at forty. shane peterson's cut, so he packs his things. maybe he's headed to colorado springs?
i liked jimenez during his brief 2015 stint with the club. glad to see he's back on a minor league deal with an invitation to big league camp. the club needs left handed depth.
davis has two minor league options remaining. domingo santana has one minor league option remaining. if davis is kept optioned for most of the 2016 season, any major league club (including the brewers) would have an extra year of control of the player. that's an increase in value for any club. is it fair to davis to bury him in the minor leagues? probably not, but it may be in the brewers' best interests to do so.
i'm looking forward to the base stealing. with a drastic reduction in power, i'm expecting the guys to be off and running. a lot of the new guys have a pretty good success rate with swipes.
the roster reached capacity nearly two weeks ago with the claiming of kirk nieuwenhuis off waivers from the mets, josmil pinto off waivers from the padres and andy wilkins off waivers from the rangers. of these three, only wilkins has remaining minor league options (two options remaining). the 40-man roster is relatively balanced with 19 position players and 21 pitchers.
the roster remains at 37 with the acquisition of keon broxton (on the 40-man) and trey supak for jason rogers. broxton will enter 2016 spring training with two minor league options remaining.
with the rule 5 draft selections of zach jones and colin walsh, the 40-man roster is now at 36. still only 15 position players on the roster at the moment.
with the trade of adam lind for three minor league prospects, the 40-man roster is now at 34. i can't recall a time during the winter meetings when the brewers last had so many open spots.
the roster is now at 38 with three players having their contracts selected: ss orlando arcia, rhp jacob barnes and rhp damien magnifico to the 40-man roster. arcia becomes the 17th position player on the roster. the brewers still can select more players before midnight eastern to protect them from the rule 5 draft.
flores is recovering from august surgery from a compound fracture and dislocated ankle. depending on how he progresses, flores may be a candidate to open the season on the 60-day disabled list--which would open up a roster spot.
the roster remains at 35 with the departure of luis sardinas (has one option remaining) and the arrival of ramon flores. flores is out of minor league options, and the brewers still have only 16 position players on the roster.
