  1. a brewers waiver claim is mentioned in a thread title on the day he is claimed by the brewers! somewhere, wei-chung wang, hernan perez and juan centeno are all weeping.
  2. rhp preston guilmet claimed from the dodgers. he can still be optioned to the minor leagues, but will enter 2016 spring training with no minor league options remaining. the roster is at 38.
  3. herrera hasn't been in a position to be claimed by another team since early june (and in february before that).
  4. the gerardo parra trade is official. the roster is at 37. tyler thornburg recalled, and another player (likely traveling from new orleans where the sky sox currently are) expected to arrive before game time to fill the 25th roster spot.
  5. unless replacing an injured player placed on the disabled list, goforth (or any other player) must remain optioned for at least 10 days. tyler cravy was optioned on 20 july, so he can be recalled. goforth was optioned on 28 july.
  6. with the jonathan broxton trade official, the roster is at 38 (the brewers did select the contract of elian herrera). the gerardo parra trade for minor leaguer zach davies is not official yet. if it is, the roster will be at 37.
  7. domingo santana takes one of the vacated spots on the 40-man roster. he will enter 2016 with one minor league option remaining. the roster stands at 38 players, with plans for the brewers to select the contract of elian herrera. if that happens, barring no further transactions, the roster will stand at 39.
  8. with the trade of aramis ramirez today, the roster stands at 39 players.
  9. the third baseman was a waiver claim from the astros. any team can claim wang and keep him optioned in the minors for the rest of this year and two more seasons--all it costs is a spot on their 40-man roster.
  10. craig counsell said that jungmann gets the start on sunday, meaning he stays. i expect the brewers to option david goforth or corey knebel after today's game and recall either matt clark or juan centeno as a stopgap measure until luis sardinas can be recalled (he needs to spend ten days in the minors). one would think that the brewers plan to keep scooter gennett optioned for a while longer.
  11. Options are for the whole year. He's already used his option for this year, so it doesn't matter how often he is sent back and forth. technically, while thornburg's option has been burned for 2015, he must spend at least ten days in the minor leagues each time he is optioned before he can be eligible for recall. if the brewers place a 25-man roster player on the disabled list, then the ten day stay does not apply. if this rule wasn't in place, the brewers could option jimmy nelson today, recall a position player, and then option said position player and recall nelson when it's his turn again in the rotation.
  12. infielder hernan perez claimed from the tigers. elian herrera designated for assignment. herrera has the right to declare free agency if the brewers do not work out a trade or another team claims him. it appears that perez has no minor league options remaining, as he was optioned in 2012, 2013 and 2014 by the tigers. the 40-man remains at capacity.
  13. tyler cravy's contract selected. the 40-man roster is full again.
  14. technically, the roster is at 37 as tyler wagner's contract has yet to be selected.
  15. brandon kintzler designated for assignment. because he's been outrighted once before, he has the right to declare free agency should no other team claim him or the brewers do not work out a trade for him. the roster is back at 38.
  16. not anymore. henderson has been outrighted to the minor leagues.
  17. jim henderson outrighted to the minor leagues. the roster is now at 39 players.
  18. post #25 was quite confusing. did it have to be? viewtopic.php?f=73&t=29061
  19. henderson activated from the 15-day disabled list and optioned to colorado springs. this is the first time he's been optioned and will enter 2016 spring training with two minor league options remaining.
  20. rob wooten is optioned. brandon kintzler has his contract selected and is back on the 40-man roster. kintzler can be optioned again this season. the 40-man is now full.
  21. logan schafer optioned with scooter gennett activated. jason rogers has played well enough to warrant keeping him on the bench. if schafer spends more than 20 days in the minors this year, he will enter 2016 spring training with no minor league options remaining.
  22. with luis jimenez designated for assignment, the roster is at 39 players.
  23. chris perez has opted out of his contract and has become a free agent.
  24. brandon kintzler has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to the minor leagues.
