  1. a reminder that a 29th man is allowed for doubleheaders. presumably, the reds have a taxi squad in milwaukee and will recall or select one of those players tomorrow.
  2. how is canceling the game political? it's social. disproportionate killings of black men by police affects society. canceling a game because of a hurricane isn't political. it's social. destruction wreaked by a hurricane affects society. not talking about all of this is anti-social.
  3. is this being installed in miller park next to the selig experience?
  4. ashby has cleared intake. the cpp is at 58, with brock holt still in limbo.
  5. i am questioning whether or not the brewers actually had a taxi squad 2.0. i haven't seen any reports of players working out, and now, the road trip is over.
  6. maybe teams with a roof. remember, fans planning to go to a game at miller park are essentially guaranteed a game that starts on time with no interruptions. few other teams can claim that, and many of the ones who can have far worse metro traffic congestion than milwaukee.
  7. j.p. feyereisen has been recalled from the alternate training site in grand chute. this move is notable in that he was a few days away from burning his first option. if he stays with the club's 28-man roster for the rest of the season (or the major league injured list), he will preserve all three options. angel perdomo had already burned his first option, so it makes sense to shuttle him back to grand chute (control struggles notwithstanding). pitchers do not require a 15-day requisite stay on optional assignment--it is 10 days like position players.
  8. Are the M’s trying to give away games? Taylor was absolutely brutal the last two summers, continually throwing in-game BP. Hopefully he figures it out, but he didn’t deserve a roster spot williams was awarded a fourth option that is only valid for this year, and seattle knew that when they claimed him. the guy is five-for-five in save opportunities, has a 1.09 whip and has held hitters to a .195 batting average. he's also struck out 13.09/9. i think he's figured it out, and when rosters were set at 30 for the first two weeks (and possibly key players were sidelined by the covid-19 injured list), many clubs had guys who probably didn't deserve a roster spot, but circumstances allowed for it . . . and some, like williams, have gotten to absolutely shine.
  9. brock holt has been designated for assigment. holt has never been outrighted before, and has one minor league option remaining, but has enough service time to refuse any minor league assignment. the brewers have seven days to trade or try to outright holt to the alternate training site in grand chute, or release him. jace peterson had his contract selected from the alternate training site. he has no minor league options remaining, and has been outrighted to the minor leagues before. the roster is at 40, with no players on the special covid-19 injured list.
  10. the acquisition of brock holt came at the expense of losing taylor williams on outright waivers. brock holt has never been outrighted before, and has one minor league option remaining, but has enough service time to refuse any minor league assignment. the brewers have seven days to trade or try to outright holt to the alternate training site in grand chute, or release him. jace peterson has no minor league options remaining, and has been outrighted to the minor leagues before.
  11. brock holt designated for assignment. while he is in limbo, the cpp is at 58. he has enough service time to refuse an outright assignment to the alternate training site.
  12. Does Lauer still need to meet that given there was an injury? I thought in that situation he was allowed to be immediately recalled? only if the recall corresponds with the injury list placement. the recall assignment went to someone else, so lauer has to stay the requisite 10 days.
  13. when mark mathias was recalled, was he already in minneapolis as part of the taxi squad, or did he travel from appleton/grand chute?
  14. corey knebel to the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring. utility man mark mathias was recalled from the alternate training site. replacing a pitcher with a position player is an unusual move for a club with 13 more consecutive games before a day off, so we will see how long the club plays a pitcher short. j.p. feyereisen, trey supak and bobby wahl are eligible for recall at any point. eric lauer still needs to meet the requisite 10 days on optional assignment.
  15. once aaron ashby clears intake, the cpp will be at 59.
  16. is there a study that you can cite that attests to this?
  17. any spottings of taxi squad players in minneapolis? i haven't seen any, but i live about four miles south of downtown.
  18. 2020 certainly is unprecedented, and here's another way that it's unprecedented: in september, the minor league "season" will continue at the alternate training sites through 27 september and onward for teams that qualify for postseason play. players on optional assignment and minor league assignment typically don't play past the first weekend in september, when minor league seasons typically end. and also, in september, rosters will not be expanding from 28--although they were originally expected to expand from 26 to 28 (not 40) had a full season been played. thus, in this unprecedented year, we know what some minor leaguers will be doing in september and october.
  19. he is now. once henry clears intake, the cpp will be at 58 players.
  20. what about the gorman thomas "trade" to the rangers in 1977? if they don't get him back, there's no gorman thomas on the brewers from 1978 - 1983.
  21. the club also needed to replace players at the alternate training site in grand chute. when luis urias was activated, for example, it's not like a player went back down to the cpp to take his place (as logan morrison was dfa'd and released). furthermore, the brewers have a road trip further away from grand chute coming up, where up to five players could be pulled away for taxi squad 2.0. how can they manage development properly with that many players away from the ats? i am still interpreting that provided a club has or makes room in its cpp (again, the brewers have three open spots right now), they can dangle any player(s) in the organization on minor league assignment prior to the 2020 rule 4 draft, and then add them immediately before trading them. that's why i believe the brewers didn't add any of the five signed players from june's rule 4 draft--mainly because picks cannot be traded in the year they are drafted. but could we see garrett mitchell added to the cpp after the 31 august trading deadline? that's an absolute possibility.
  22. the team announced the move, so garcia cleared intake. the cpp is at 57.
  23. any spottings of taxi squad players in chicago? i am guessing that they're all still up in grand chute and will travel with the team when they head up here to minneapolis.
  24. logan morrison cleared outright waivers and refused the outright assignment to the alternate training site in grand chute. he is now a free agent.
  25. the trading deadline is 31 august. we are aware that only players in the club player pool can be traded, and that they must be added to the acquiring club's cpp. by having three vacancies in their cpp, the brewers can readily acquire more players than they surrender in a single trade. also, by having three open spots, they can essentially dangle any player on minor league assignment in the organization not in the cpp. if a trade is agreed upon, the brewers can add that player to the cpp in order to make him trade-eligible.
