  1. Not as criminal as letting him pitch. i am now pretty confident that eric lauer isn't even in los angeles with the club.
  2. actually, maybe the reason why burnes is listed is because he's in los angeles with the team, and perhaps manny pina isn't. manny pina was activated from the injured list on 28 september and was reassigned to the minor leagues on 30 september.
  3. take a look at the brewers.com transactions page. on 28 september, a bunch of players were recalled or activated from the injured list. on 30 september, a bunch of them were reassigned to the minor leagues--including a player out of options (manny pina). the ones recalled or activated on 28 september that are on the postseason roster are david freitas and mat gamel. thus, it's safe to assume that the other players reassigned to the minor leagues make up the 12-man taxi squad for the postseason roster: 1. brett anderson 2. phil bickford 3. j.p. feyereisen 4. mark mathias 5. billy mckinley 6. angel perdomo 7. manny pina 8. corey ray 9. bobby wahl 10. devin williams there is not a recall transaction and a subsequent minor league reassignment transaction listed for eric lauer. we know that non-roster zack brown is in los angeles, so that makes 11. i am assuming that eric lauer isn't even in los angeles, and there's been speculation that non-roster keon broxton is the 12th guy.
  4. the brewers did activate manny pina from the injured list on 28 september. his postseason status is reassigned to the minor leagues.
  5. likely just soreness and inflammation. this is good news.
  6. fans will be allowed for the nlcs and the world series--both played in arlington, texas. tickets go on sale tuesday.
  7. i am curious about bobby wahl. last we knew, he was injured. it's really sucked not having a minor league 7-day injured list in 2020--which disclosed baseball-related injuries.
  8. Plus there is a DH so less need for a bench for the pinch hitting, double switching, etc. So I'd agree with the logic of another P making sense. compare it to the 2018 division series roster. i'm in agreement--given who's healthy and rested--with just 12 pitchers for a three game series.
  9. actually, maybe the reason why burnes is listed is because he's in los angeles with the team, and perhaps manny pina isn't.
  10. it is possible that mathias could be injured. he was in st. louis as part of the taxi squad, so if he was injured, it likely happened or escalated while on the road.
  11. manny pina should be listed under injured list.
  12. wish i wasn't creating this, but to help fans keep better track of his recovery, let's cite sites in this thread.
  13. this taxi squad will not be made public. please report here on this thread if you happen to see video or a photo of a player in los angeles that isn't part of the soon-to-be announced 28-man wild card series roster.
  14. the playoff pool of 12 reserve players will not be made public, for reasons outlined here. this also gives insight as to why the brewers were so secretive all season about who was on the taxi squad of each road trip.
  15. daniel vogelbach will be on the wild card series roster.
  16. clubs can carry up to 12 players on their taxi squad. they do not have to be on the 40-man roster.
  17. suter threw 4.0 innings in his last start of a 7-inning doubleheader on 25 september. there are three off days before the division series starts, and there's no way that suter appears again in game three of the wild card series with one day of rest. i say be hopeful for 5.0 innings of suter on four days' rest, and then turn it over to the bullpen.
  18. the game was remarkable in that jeff d'amico was in the running to qualify for the era title. unfortunately, he didn't pitch well enough to secure it. i'm glad i got to be there.
  19. absolutely. presumably, they all flew from st. louis to los angeles last night, and it's possible that more could be flying from milwaukee, if they haven't left already.
  20. a reminder that billy mckinney is eligible for the postseason roster, as he was acquired before 15 september.
  21. taking a look at 2018 roster construction (the last time the brewers played a postseason series immediately after the conclusion of the regular season) . . . the brewers had two days off after playing game 163 in chicago before starting a best-of-five series in colorado. the brewers have two days off before starting the wild card series in los angeles. the 2018 series was scheduled for two days playing, one day off for travel, two days playing, one day off for travel, one day playing. the 2020 series is three consecutive days of playing. in 2018, the brewers opened with 11 pitchers (44%) and 14 position players (56%). they used only 8 of the 11 pitchers, but all 14 position players in the series. granted, they only played three of potential five games. with a 28-man roster for this wild card series, but no off days, but the benefit of the designated hitter, will they favor position players or pitchers?
  22. gamel will be evaluated on tuesday.
  23. don't look for manny pina on the wild card roster.
  24. mark mathias was part of the taxi squad in st. louis, and possibly in cincinnati as well. seeing as ryon healy, eric lauer and j.p. feyereisen were all activated on this road trip, it's probably safe to assume that they were also part of the taxi squad. if anyone can identify any other players in this photo, then we likely have our final taxi squad of the 60-game season revealed. david freitas perhaps, because of the requirement to carry a catcher?
