  1. tyler saladino's season may not be over after all . . .
  2. woodruff is expected to return within a week.
  3. devin williams has been recalled and will enter 2020 spring training with three minor league options intact.
  4. we got some insight from tyrone taylor--a player on the 40-man roster. he interviewed for a job with fedex and was offered the position. so, apparently, there's not a clause in the player's contract that prohibits them from seeking employment once the minor league season ends. one can also assume that the brewers extended taylor the courtesy of telling him that he wasn't in their roster expansion plans, which freed him to pursue off-season employment.
  5. looks like it's yasmani grandal or jacob nottingham for emergency infield duty . . . i just don't get it. why doesn't the team use every possible advantage at their disposal in a playoff race?
  6. noteworthy in case there's a tie for the wild card amongst the brewers and cubs, phillies, nationals, diamondbacks or mets . . .
  7. it was reported that orlando arcia would be placed on the paternity list. with september roster expansion, the only reason to place him on the paternity list would be to recall a player who has yet to meet the 10-day requisite stay on optional assignment. devin williams was optioned 31 august, so he could be recalled a day early. but yes, the brewers currently have no depth at third, short and second beyond three healthy starters at those positions. that's why i'm advocating for selecting the contract of nate orf.
  8. if the club is able to stretch him out, i'm leaning towards brent suter. i absolutely love how he keeps hitters off-balance by working so fast. i think it would put undue pressure on the hitters and make them press more. and he's the guy i want fielding the ball on an infield dribbler.
  9. considering that saladino is out of options for 2020, the club is more likely to dfa saladino than recall him and pay him big league money to sit on the 60-day injured list.
  10. orlando arcia is taking some time off for the birth of his twins. tyler saladino is injured and can't be recalled to play. mike moustakas still can't grip a bat. keston hirua is still on the injured list and not ready to return. will the brewers free nate orf? .272 / .399 / .410 with san antonio this year, and he has big league experience (albeit limited).
  11. defensive versatility and speed make him a great 26th man. he's proven that if he hits it on the ground, he can reach.
  12. Wilkerson made his affiliated ball debut in 2014. The Brewers own his rights in 2020 as he enters his 7th affiliated season. thanks. he'd be rule 5 eligible then. unlikely to be drafted as he could've just been claimed and optioned in 2019 and 2020 rather than claimed via rule 5 and required to stay on his club's 2020 active roster.
  13. add aaron wilkerson to the list of brewers who cannot be traded until after the conclusion of the world series.
  14. jeremy jeffress has officially been granted his release. had another team claimed him, they would have been stuck with the club option set by the brewers after the conclusion of this season. now, any club can freely negotiate with jeffress.
  15. aaron wilkerson cleared waivers and has been outrighted to san antonio. i'm not sure if he has enough minor league service time to elect free agency after the conclusion of the world series.
  16. all national league teams took a pass on stokes. a player placed on outright waivers is first offered to the waiving team's league--worst to first. detroit had first dibs after he cleared the national league.
  17. troy stokes, jr. has been claimed off waivers by detroit.
  18. recent acquisition j.p. feyereisen is eligible for the rule 5 draft this fall if left unprotected.
  19. it was a trade of players that weren't on 40-man rosters in 2019--that's what allowed for the trade to happen. either club can add the newly acquired player to its 40-man roster at any time. i misread the previous post for eligibility on postseason play, and have since edited it. neither player is eligible for postseason play, but could be used through game 162, or game 163, if necessary.
  20. ben gamel, jay jackson and freddy peralta do not burn their options this year. devin williams is likely to be recalled and will not burn his either.
  21. the san antonio roster has been raided in recent days. the missions closed out the season with a loss in extra innings. gosewisch pitched the final 2.2 innings, surrendering the walk-off run.
  22. yes, but only up until game 162 or game 163.
