  1. Well, a win tonight over St. Louis or a loss by the Nationals, and they are mathematically eliminated from the Wild Card picture. That's one less team to worry about.
  2. Does anybody know what channel the game is on AM radio in Milwaukee?
  3. That's pretty much exactly what I was trying to say. I feel like fans have been hard on Bush after his slow start. I seem to remember a thread on this very message board earlier this season entitled something to the effect of "Dave Bush has got to go," and I thought he deserved some recognition for turning his season around. It's players like Bush that go largely unnoticed, but if we make the playoffs, it will be because of, not in spite of, guys like him.
  4. I was bored at work and checking out the stats, and I noticed that Dave Bush has a better WHIP, 1.12 to 1.14, Batting Average Against, .235 to .242, Pitches per Inning Pitched, 14.97 to 15.42, and Hits per 9 innings pitched, 8.01 to 8.25, than Ben Sheets. And, his ERA has been steadily dropping, down to a very respectable 4.26. In short, he is very quietly putting up a pretty decent year. Basically, I just wanted to give him some props for pitching well since being recalled from AAA. That's all.
  5. This was just announced on Sportscenter.
  6. Brett Favre is still #1 and will be until the Brewers win the World Series.
  7. North Platte, Nebraska
  8. The Cubs have a brutal schedule in September. But even if they played California Penal League teams the rest of the season, I would still root for the Cards.
  9. This type of situation just makes me sad to be a Brewers fan. I don't see anything good coming out of this, and it seems like it's pretty indicative that there are some pretty serious issues going on with this team that we don't know a whole lot about. Hopefully, everybody in the organization takes a good long look in the mirror and realize what the real problem is. Ned Yost needs to go.
  10. Five consecutive hits, and you get picked off. If this team just used their heads a little, they could be the best in baseball.
  11. that is unacceptable decision making on Ned Yost's part. He deserves to be fined.
  12. Yep, you got me. And as crappy of a day as I've had already, that would have put me over the edge. Seeing it was the other Braun, though, it actually made me laugh. Thanks, Maas.
  13. I definitely could use some Mota Relief fundage. Please include me. Thanks.
  14. 5 runs, 15 pitches Edit: I originally guessed 14 pitches, but somebody already took mine, so I changed it to 5 and 15 pitches. Thanks.
  15. Let's not forget that the ASG has playoff implications. If the NL's best chance to win that game involves Ben Sheets, then I have no problem with him pitching and/or starting, if it means an extra game at Miller Park this October. The potential injury risk aside, I also think it would be very cool to see Big Ben starting the All-Star Game.
  16. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080626/ap_on_go_su_co/scotus_guns This is a pretty major event in the history of the supreme court. It's basically the 1st time they have ever made a ruling interpreting the 2nd amendment. It will be very interesting to see what this ruling does to future legislation on handgun regulations. Public officials are very concerned right now that the number of gun related crimes will go up because of the ruling. I've always thought that it would have the opposite effect to allow citizens to carry guns. If you were a thief, would you be more or less likely to mug somebody if you knew that the person you were about to attack might possibly be armed? This ruling does not go as far as saying that it's okay to carry a concealed weapon, but you never know what could happen after this.
  17. Did anybody hear about Adam Scott's caddy beating up a drunken father and son who were heckling him? I heard that Rome was having a field day today on his radio show.
  18. I'm not a big fan of Ned Yost, but he did handle the platoon situation of Mench and Jenkins pretty well. I have a feeling if Hall sticks with the team in a platoon the rest of the year, Yost will not allow Billy to be a distraction. And I agree that Hall would not get us anything in a trade that would merit breaking up a platoon that could be above average in terms of total 3rd base production.
  19. Prince Fielder at 1st: I would not even consider trading Prince for at least another 2 years. Dude hit 50 bombs last year. Rickie Weeks at 2nd: His defense would be above average if he could just turn a gosh darn double play Alcides Escobar at SS: Why not give him a shot? It'd be fun to watch him on defense. Maybe not so much fun on offense, but you never know. JJ Hardy at 3rd: Definitely not the long term solution here, but it's a lot easier than going from SS to 2nd. Question is, will he hit enough? My guess is yes.
  20. I'm stealing a quote from a friend of mine from when Yo tore his ACL..."Me, cliff, jump. end transmission."
  21. Try Dick's. They should have the Brewer game.
  22. "Another question is if Yo damaged his knee more by pitching two more innings. If he did, Yost or Maddux or whoever should be fired." And brought up on charges.
  23. I feel the same way I did the day Brett Favre retired. There is just no way to replace Gallardo. I wouldn't be surprised if I cried at some point in the next 24-48 hours.
