  1. I've done the Lakefront tour about a dozen times. $6 gets you 4 samples and a free glass. They also have the original Bernies's chalet from County Stadium, which is pretty sweet. Major Goolsby's has the best wings in town. For out-of-towners, it seems the one place everybody wants to check out is the safe house. If you're walking there, you'll probably walk right past it because the front of the bar looks like a shoe store. The actual entrance is down a side alley, and you have to speak the password to get in. The Pfister has a pretty cool lobby, and you might bump into some of the Phillies players or maybe some other famous people. The bar on the top floor is pretty neat, too. For a good steak, I'd recommend the Milwaukee Chophouse in the lobby of the Hilton. It's not cheap, but it's probably the best steak I've ever had. Also, Miller Time Pub is in the same lobby, and it's right off Wisconsin Ave. While you're there, walk upstairs to the upper lobby and talk to the Concierge about other places to check out in town. They'll help you out even if you're not staying in the hotel.
  2. Uecker again - "Some of the fans are making their way over the bridge into downtown Pittsburgh. Some of the fans are jumping over the bridge into the water."
  3. Uecker - "We see some movement in the Pirates bullpen. Pitchers are jumping over the fence heading home." Awesome.
  4. I'll never drink long islands from Friday's front row again. Ever.
  5. Derrick Turnbow lasted way longer as a closer than he should have. Nothing drove me crazy more than having him come into a game that we were dominating with his gas can and blowing up lead after lead.
  6. I too would be shocked if he returned this year. That was Ugly. Winning tonight would at least help make the situation less sucky. Go Bucks!
  7. I called the Brewers ticket office yesterday and asked them about this, and they said that technically, the parking lots open 3 hours before gametime, but if there is a long line of cars (which there most certainly will be), then they will open an hour early. Basically, the earlier you get there, the better chance you have of getting a spot, otherwise you might get sent to State Fair.
  8. With the bad contracts that we are still paying off in Suppan and Hall, it makes me smile that Corey Hart turned down a long term contract offer. We really dodged a bullet on that one.
  9. Is it possible that we can trade Suppan for somebody that has a similar contract and is similarly under-performing, but maybe in a different position on the field. I don't know of anybody like that off the top of my head, but there's got to be somebody. Something like the Carlos Silva for Milton Bradley trade, perhaps?
  10. I'd say strong, to quite strong.
  11. Any trade that gets rid of Hakim Warrick is fine with me. It's nice to see that the Bucks are making a move to improve the team on the floor. With that being said, last night's game was brutal. I hung in there for a while, but when Gadzuric air-balled that jump shot, I had to turn the channel.
  12. Grow up, dude. You play a game for a living, and you're whining about not getting days off? It must be nice living in never-never land, JJ. Maybe I'll come visit you sometime when I need a break from reality.
  13. I made a batch of IPA that I purchased from Northern Brewer back when they had their grand opening, and it turned out pretty good. I just brewed an Amber ale last weekend, which is currently in the primary fermenter. I'll probably rack it in the next few days. Should be ready by Opening day. I've been brewing for a couple of years now, and I love home brew, but I do the entire process all by myself, and it's getting to be a lot of work. It's a fun hobby, but it takes a lot of time.
  14. I agree that Bud deserves the honor for many reasons, but Miller park is the clincher, simply due to the fact that you are guaranteed to see a baseball game. This allows fans to make the drive from anywhere in the state of Wisconsin and be confident that they're going to see baseball. That simple fact made it so much easier to be a Brewer fan if you lived up north. There is nothing worse than driving 2-1/2 hours and having to turn around and go back home because the game was rained out.
  15. Big win last night, especially without Bogut for most of the game. I really liked the energy level and intensity. It seemed like the Bucks figured something out last night in their passing game. I can't remember the last time they got that many good looks simply by making the extra pass.
  16. I think the main thing that this move does is protects us from having to use the injury replacement scrubs we trotted out there last year. My rotation would probably be something like Gallardo, Wolf, Davis, Bush, and Parra with Suppan and Narveson as the 6th and 7th starters/injury replacements. Depth is a beautiful thing. It would be great if we didn't have to use Suppan or Narveson at all as starters (even though I think Narveson could be solid as a starter), chances are we are going to have to use both of them at some point in the season. I don't see how that's not an upgrade over some combination of Burns, McClung, and Villaneuva. (I just threw up in my mouth a little bit typing that).
  17. I've learned my lesson from driving my 4 x 4 pickup too fast in the snow. The left lane might look tempting when there's nobody else in it, but there's usually a reason why nobody else is in it. I've had a few close calls from basically driving like an idiot just because I had a bigger vehicle than everybody else. Now I just shake my head when I see people driving like I used to.
  18. I got lucky today. I didn't have to come in to work until 10:00, and I work until 7:00, so I should miss both rush-hours, hopefully. It's not that bad, if you just take it slow. Sadly, not everybody understands this concept. Four-wheel drive helps, as well.
  19. I'm just glad we got a GM who is not willing to hand out lengthy contracts to players who have a good year in a contract year. I'm thinking we're going to be pretty bad again this year, but that's okay. We still have a couple albatross contracts that we have to wait out, then the real rebuilding can begin. Hopefully, the team stays in Milwaukee long enough to get rid of those contracts. --------------- Last two pages of Milwaukee Bucks Thread 2008–2009: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=16298&start=1180
  20. We need to shake things up on the mound. Why not give Coffey a shot at starting? Stick Suppan or Bush in the bullpen when they come off the DL. I know he's valuable in his current role, probably more valuable than any pitcher on the team, other than Yo. But as good as he's been, why not give it a shot?
  21. I just bought my first pair of shoelace-less work shoes. I really like them. Now I have one less thing that I have to do every morning.
  22. I know it's early, but it almost seems like Hammond might actually know what he's doing a little bit. J/S, just sayin'...
  23. Packers coverage will heat up exponentially in the coming weeks. This is kind of the lull before the storm. As far as the Brewers are concerned, they seem to be like a model franchise from a business standpoint. Making the playoffs last year really helped. They really turned themselves around nicely from the Ulice Payne fiasco. Good for them. Keep up the good work, Mark.
  24. I'm jealous. I've contemplated getting XM for a while now to listen to while at work just because of the commercials. I don't think Milwaukee stations play bad music, but I just can't stand the commercials.
