  1. I have more interest in picking up Corpas on the cheap.
  2. I think the Brewers could afford sheets at something around 3 years @ 45, but the problem that I forsee is that another club will offer him a long term contract, ie Barry Zito. I hope Melvin and Mark A make a serious contract run at him over the All Star break.
  3. this would be a terrible move for the Crew, why trade Villy and Laporta for a rental and a winnowing prospect?
  4. Yost did the right thing by taking out benny, got to give him props.
  5. I think Villy should be given a shot at closing. I think he could do it.
  6. No way, while I believe Soria ia far superior than Turnbow, he was snatched in the rule five draft. The Brewers need to better utilize the rule five draft to net a similiar player for the pen next year.
  7. If the Padres want TGJ, I think we should ship him off. He will never be more than a backup in Milwaukee.
  8. Nice Pedro, I feel Kremblas is the logical choice.
  9. yeah your right about the trade, but the point still stands that the Melvin was beat by other teams on the margins. And with Cordero a more astute GM would have resigned Cordero before he hit the market. And if the Brewers "can't afford" Lee at 100 million, we have no chance at resigning Fielder or Braun past their arby years. The profits in major league baseball have skyrocketed in comparison with salaries. I have a hard time believing the Brewers can't afford market prices for players.
  10. In my opinion both players are really untradable for the teams future. As a middle market team, we need to pay for the talent that is worth is, and let go mediocre players. Instead we have responded by letting go of talent, ie Lee, and Cordero, and paid for mediocrity Gagne, Suppan. I feel many members of the forum here are stuck in the team's past. Are payroll continues to increase and we actually have talented team. There is no reason to be talking of selling off our best players, we are past that development stage as a team.
  11. If anything is certain about Brewer management Yost will get fired far after relevancy for the 2008 season. Am I the only one who thinks Melvin should go as well? I feel his staff has done a poor job evaluating talent in our farm system. Melvin has also done a poor job resigning real talent in Milwaukee. How much better of a club would we be right now if we had the veteran presence of Carlos Lee in our lineup, or Fransico Cordero closing out ball games? The only major signing Melvin pulled off is resigning Sheets.
  12. To me this all comes back to Yost and the coaching staff. Braun and Fielder are shadows of the players they were last year. I do not have confidence in Yost et al to successfully develop young talent. Look at Rickie and JJ, in my opinion they are below average mlb starters at their respective positions. Just think what would happen with this club if we had a real manager like Pinella how this team may have developed.
  13. I would like to see Torres move to the closer as well. He could possibly remain in the role for the next few years, although I would still like to see Dave Bush in the the role.
  14. I can't believe you guys are mentioning trading Fielder, what?
  15. The Brewers can defiantly resign Sheets, though I hope they could work something out before this season's end.
  16. This is simply devastating for the Crew. I don't feel we are legit player off contenders without him, particularly if Sheets only pitches >150 innings as is usual.
  17. No way the Astros are going to trade Oswalt, although the Brewers ought to think about trading away some of their prospects to acquire a high caliber player.
  18. Melvin is a bad GM when the team is a buyer. I think the Linbrink trade may end up being worse. I am starting to wonder why so many former young brewers pitchers are being scattered across the major leagues, while we have a bunch of expensive relievers.
  19. excited to watch this game. If I were a GM and I could build my team around one player it would certainly be Hanley Ramirez. I think he is too valuable to the Marlins to be batting lead-off, he should be anchoring that lineup.
  20. I have a beautiful friend who is quite the socialite in Milwaukee nightlife. She has met a few brewers on the town and claims that Weeks has no confidence when it comes to women.
  21. Seth McClung is the 2008 reincarnation of Brooks Kieschnick.
  22. I am significantly concerned with Prince's lack of power output through this season and spring training. While some posters on Brewerfan claim either that it is to early to judge Prince's output from such a small sampling, or that Prince's order needs to return to the cleanup spot to increase his production, I for one, have little doubt in my mind that his taking up has vegetarianism is the core reason for Prince's slip of power in 2008. Like Prince, I also decided to become a vegetarian a few years ago. I choose to become a vegetarian to lead a healthier life style, and achieved this goal for the first initial months. As a vegetarian however, I lost a significant amount of muscle mass. Like Prince, I am also a huge man, raised with a meat diet. Prior to becoming a vegetarian I carried 260 lbs on 6'4" offensive tackle frame. My weight dropped to 235 after a few months of vegetarianism. I became noticeably weaker during my time as a vegetarian, and I have little doubt Prince is feeling the same thing. For the last twenty-odd years of his life, Prince Fielder's stomach has been conditioned to eat meat. Up to this point in his life, his muscle system has been built with meat proteins. In becoming a vegetarian, Prince has essentially shocked his body's metabolism system. Although vegetarianism may lead to better long term health, it certainly doesn't make you stronger, and doesn't bode well in the short term, for such a large, muscular man, who after all is a paid professional athlete. Prince's reason to become a vegetarian is simply ridiculous considering he is a professional athlete. He didn't do it to enhance his physical performance and that is a problem. Is Prince Fielder in better physical shape than last year? I think the answer is clearly no. For after all, you are what you eat.
  23. Look, it would be great to get Bedard, but it simply isn't going to happen, particularly with the motley crew of players proposed to ship to Baltimore. I am dumb founded by the A's with Haren, and now potentially the O's with Bedard. I don't understand how it is in the best interests of the team to trade away good young pitching that you invested in.
  24. 1. Mets 2. Diamondbacks 3. Cubs 4. Brewers 5. Dodgers 6. Phillies 7. Rockies 8. Braves 9. Padres 10. Reds 11. Astros 12. Cardinals 13. Giants 14. Nationals 15. Pirates 16. Marlins
  25. Has the forums ever thought of transfering to a different type of forum?
