I hope we get delayed for about an hour in the 3rd inning forcing LaRussa to use his wreched bullpen while we bring in Villy
  2. That Nationals couldn't actually go under could they, I would assume the MLB would bail them out if it were to happen. It is just a weird situation because I would assume most people that live in DC probably were and still are Orioles fans. I am not sure if I lived in DC that I would switch my allegiance from the Orioles to the Nationals just because the Nationals came to town. Come to think of it there is no way I would.
  3. Have the Brewers ever swept a road series of 6 or more games? I can't imagine that it has happened to often. Really looking forward to this one although I wish this was an afternoon game. Sure it will be great watching it tonight but today's work day is going to be longer than yesterday. Hopefully Ben has his one crappy game a month out of the way and he returns to his normal pitching ways.
  4. I am sure the umpires union doesn't think kindly of suspensions, thus umpires probably feel like they can get away with anything. There are certain umpires that have a bigger Ego than Hank Steinbrenner, it is pretty darn annoying. People don't go to games to see umpires pick fights with players and coaches
  5. Isn't the picture of Alex Sanchez writhing in agony a good thing?
  6. I at first questioned why Yost didn't have CC bunt with 2 on but after Bill said he hadn't had a sacrifice since 2001 and probably hasn't had a whole of practice at I will give Yost the benefit of the doubt. Needless to say, the way things are going right now, it is pretty hard to find fault with anybody, especially Yost, he has the team playing great right now. Sure it probably is 90% players, but if Ned's 10% is working right now
  7. I wouldn't go reptiles. Fish can be a pain in the rear, make sure you by a could filter and really keep up with replacing it. As long as you replace about 1/3 of the water every 1-2 months the tank won't get to dirty. Algae Eater are also a plus. I have always gone with the standard fresh water fish but very soon I am going to be starting up a salt water tank which I am sure will be much more work
  8. My wife gets upset when I refer to the Brewers as "we". As in "We played really awesome last night."
  9. Best game thread ever. It is no coincidence that a Cardinal is red. Nor is it a coincidence that the Brewers have white and blue in our colors. Branyan didn't allow red in the Brewers logo, sorry America.
  10. It boggles my mind how the Crew was ever 20-24. That seems like such a distant memory.
  11. I also love how big of an idiot Richard Justice looks right now. Yeah Richard the Brewers look to have major chemistry issues to me too.
  12. Yay!!!!! It is a very real possibility that we could be in a tie for first about 25 hours from now. We are winning games we have no business winning. Winning 5 games in a row on the road? Are you serious? Against Cain, Lincecum, Sanchez, and Lohse no less. That doesn't even seem possible. I have Brewer fever and the only prescription is more Bill Hall (I know I am a dork)
  13. I really don't even know what to say. I was fully expecting to lose today. But my Brewer fandom is creating an irrational fear that Sabathia and Sheets are going to lay eggs the next today. Darn you thought get out of my brain!!!!!
  14. Please just get a run this inning EDIT: Pretty please the Cards have the pitchers spot and Izturiz leading off next inning
  15. Countdown until his next mechanical flaw resulting in increased levels of sucktitude in 3......2......1.....
  16. Darn it as soon as I posted the Thread I wanted to change the title to: Astros make run at 4th Place, Trade for Wolf
  17. Looking forward to a Wolf beat down at Miller Park this weekend. How does Ed Wade consistently have a job? Or is this more of an owner pressure type of deal. If they needed pitching why didn't they just bring up the kid from AAA, he looks like he would be better than Wolf anyways
  18. I believe he is a 2 month rental, which makes it even worse. Will he be a Type A or B this coming winter? I would assume Type B if that.
  19. At least we were in contention at the time, not only are the 10 games back but they also would need to leapfrog 8 TEAMS. Yeah good luck with that.
  20. Padres send Wolf to Astros By Tom Krasovic July 22, 2008 The Padres have dealt left-hander Randy Wolf to the Astros for Chad Reineke, a Triple-A pitcher who has averaged nearly a strikeout per inning. A key part of the deal for the Padres is the potential financial savings. Wolf is due a $175,000 bonus for every start he makes up to his 30th start, in addition to pro-rated payments on a $4.75 million salary. The Padres also have two starting pitchers due to come off the disabled list in coming weeks: Chris Young and Shawn Estes. Reineke, 26, is 5-9 with a 4.41 ERA. A starter, he has 100 strikeouts and 35 walks in 112.1 innings this season. Entering this year, he had a 3.52 career ERA with a strikeout per inning. Wolf was 6-10 with a 4.74 ERA.
  21. Apparently Ed Wade feels the Astros are still in it despite being 10 games out of the wild card and having an absolutely atrocious rotation. I'll post a link once I find one http://houston.astros.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080722&content_id=3173548&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou Edit: Added link. - Toby
  22. Off Topic but has something happened to Woogie? He always did a bang-up job on the game thread. Yeah I said Bang-Up. Bill Talk. We are at a major pitching disadvantage in this game but you just never know what can happen. I don't like being in a tie for anything. Ties are for soccer fans not wild card races.
  23. We had also burned through 4 pitchers already (Including Torres) and we don't have another off day for a long time yet. This might be another explanation for his reasoning. I like the decision because I would much rather have Torres out their for a 2nd inning than have Villy out there. If we wouldn't have scored another run Villy, who has given up 15 homers in only 77 innings, would have made me much more nervous. It isn't like their was a guarantee that whoever would have hit for Torres would have gotten a hit anyways. But were probably arguing way to much about this since we did actually win
  24. I am confused. Are we now critizing Yost on hypothetical conditions? I fail to see any errors he made last night. So what if he pinch hits for Torres and we only end up scoring 1 run (this is a purely hypothetical exercise isn't it) and Villy comes in and promptly gives up a 2 run dinger. That fact is that every decision Yost made yesterday worked and whats better is that we won. How about the decisions Ned made to start Bill Hall against the lefty or keep Rickie in the lineup, or pitch McClung instead of Bush. Those worked out perfectly but instead we are blaming the guy for stuff that never even happened. We are 13 games over .500 and just rolling right now, I am just going to enjoy the ride, because, while Ned isn't the ideal in-game manager, he certainly has the team playing very well right now. (pared back long nested quote --1992)
  25. I say the pitching is near a wash with the Crew perhaps having a slight advantage. However considering how drastic the Cubs Home/Road splits are both offensively and for pitching, I might be dissappointed with a split. They are quite simply and entirely different team on the road, not as crazy as us last year but they are way better at Wrigley. Virtually every key contributor has major home/Road splits.
