  1. Come on give the Brewers fans some credit. Didn't we get Jenkins in the All Star game a couple years ago through the fan vote? Don't underestimate us. I would hope all non- Brewers non-Cubs fans would also vote for Braun simply on the numbers. COnsidering most fans look at Ave, HR, and RBI's Braun would seem to have a pretty good edge. Also at the beginning of the year it was obvious Fukudome was a far superior defender, I don't know if that is the case anymore. WHen was the last bad play Braun made? Sure he plays to deep sometimes and can't get to balls other OF could but he rarely misjudges balls and he has even made several spectacular plays in recent memory including the the strike he threw this past Friday.
  2. After thinking about this I might be coming around 1. a CC trade would have to involve LaPorta or Gamel 2. We obviously wouldn't resign CC so we would be getting 2 high draft picks 3. So if we trade just for example LaPorta, Salome, and Seidel we would essentially be trading 3 prospects for 2 picks + Sabathia. It just seems that the net effect of the trade could be a positive one, even if it is a 2 month rental, so long as we are left with at least one of Gamel / LaPorta. I would rather keep Gamel because of his superstar offensive numbers. And since all of our young guys are still under our control for 2 more years we have two years before we "need" the next group of young guys. And of course any trade of Fielder would allow us to restock our farm system anyways. With our 6 top picks this year it is safe to say that at least one of them will develop into a LaPorta/Gamel type prospect. Even with the trade of the proposed players we still have these players available to us in 2 years (assuming no Fielder trade) 1st Base - Fielder, Errecart, Nelson, Gamel 2nd Base - Weeks, Bell SS - Hardy, Escobar, Dykstra, Brewer 3rd - Gamel, Green, Hall? OF - Gamel, Braun, Hart, Brantley, Gillespie, Cain, Dykstra C- LuCroy, Lawrie, Rottino Pitchers - Gallardo, Parra, Jeffress, Odorizzi, Fredrickson, Lintz, Braddock, Periard, Anundsen, Hammond, Wright, maybe Sheets or other FA/Trade pick up This list doesn't even include the two picks from Sabathia and all other draft picks in the next 2 years. Its safe to say that we would certainly have enough prospects to keep the train rolling in Milwaukee, even if some of them don't turn out. I think we are pretty weak at 2nd if Weeks doesn't pan out soon but besides that we have plenty of options and all positions and pitchers. Plus Cleveland is in the AL so I am not going to worry of LaPorta does turn out to be very good.
  3. Doesn't it seem fairly logical to everyone that once Cameron's time is done in Milwaukee that Hart would be moved to center, Gamel to right, and LaPorta to 1st? It just seems to me that that aligment, while most likely below average defensively, would give us the biggest bang for our buck. Not to mention a Fielder trade that could possibly get us a 3rd basemen and starting pitching help. If Salome pans out just add some more fire power to the lineup. If that scenario were to play out, it would be entirely possible that our entire lineup was drafted by the Brewers (Perhaps 3rd base would be the only possible position not to be drafted by Crew) and at least 2 of our SP as well (Parra & Gallardo) with Jeffress possibly being a 3rd 2 years from now.
  4. What's untradeable about LaPorta? He's a righthanded power hitting corner OF in an organization that has Braun (signed through 2014) and Hart (under Brewer control through 2011). As for Jeffress, I have 2 names: Jose Capellan and Nick Neugebauer. Didn't those guys dominate low level minor leaguers by throwing close to 100 mph? He's so far from a sure thing it isn't funny. That's if he stays healthy. Now if you'd say "we don't have to include Gamel and Escobar", I might agree with you. Gamel is a big lefthanded stick and Brewers don't have many of them, and Escobar could be special at a prime position. There are also plenty of guys who threw that hard who turned out as well. Sure he is no sure thing, no minor leaguer is, but he our best pitching talent in the entire system and it really isn't all that close. I would not even think about trading Jeffress. We have much more positional player talent than pitching talent. Perhaps we can spare either Gamel or La Porta but I don't think we can take the chance of trading Jeffress and then he actually develops into a #1-2 type pitcher. He has been unhittable at times this year, you just don't trade a talent like that for a 2 month rental of any player. If Jeffress needed to be included in the deal IMO it would have to be in a trade for a star player that would be under Brewer control for at least 2 years, not 2 months
  5. Wow Trev Alberts? I am pretty sure Mel Kiper won that argument.
  6. Can someone refresh my memory on the Kiper incident?
  7. I still think at least one and most likely 2 of Williams, Redd, and Villanueva are headed out the door. If we get Love or Randolph I can't imagine us holding on to CV. I would also prefer to trade Mo and either start Ramon Sessions or trade for someone
  8. If Bobby Simmons isn't part of the deal I don't like it
  9. The JS still isn't reporting anything. I guess Hammond really is trying to shake things up, this would be a good start
  10. I guess they could go with Kevin Love at PF instead?
  11. Is this a joke? I certainly don't see anything.
  12. Has Doug gone on record as saying once Ben reaches FA that he will even bid to get his services?
  13. The idea that someone prank called JP saying he was Adam Dunn is hilarious. I should call Doug Melvin saying I am Eric Gagne and apologize for sucking so much.
  14. I don't think anyone they could get at 8 would make them any better of a team. If we can swing a few trades in this offseason maybe I'll have some hope for next year but Joe Alexander is not going to make me a believer. They need an an actual point guard and somehow someway learn to play defense. I am not optimistic.
  15. Has he really been any worse than every other player in that awful Astros rotation? The story probably is slanated but if it at least partly true Ed Wade sure wasn't showing a whole lot of professionalism. I can't imagine my boss cussing me out in public
  16. Who didn't see this kind of loss coming. Its against the Brewer religion to sweep a road series Thou shall not covet 3 wins at thy neighbors house
  17. I would like a comeback today. Id Campillo just another junk baller who beat the crew or is he actually good? How about we take a few pitchs every now and then? Would that be so bad? Braun and Fielder have looked pitiful this series
  18. How can you give up a hit to the pitcher twice?
  19. I am pretty sure that I will cry if Ben Sheets is pitching for another team. I just hope for my sake he ends up with an AL team. If he would accept 4 or 5 years at $18 million I would do it, if it goes higher than that move on.
  20. If he would have added another 5 pound weight to his pregame bench press routine on 6/14 we would be 43-33 right now. I am fine with the way Prince is playing however it does seem like he is swinging at a lot more garbage this year as compared to last. If you can throw him a breaking ball down in the zone he basically has no chance. He seems to swing at it well more than 50% of the time. I am also a little frustrated with his RISP performance. But all things considered he has been playing very well
  21. He also pitches in a band box and is in a division with other band boxes. I keep expecting him to have bad stuff one night and just get shelled but he never does. I know it will happen but he is just incredible. How that trade worked for both teams is just amazing. The trade could potentially be a trade of a MVP for a Cy Young.
  22. It looked like Prince had alligator arms on that one, my untrained eye thought Price should have caught that, but was afraid of the runner swiping his arm behind him, since they didn't score I am glad Prince pulled his arm back, we don't need him hurt
  23. If you eliminate the one inning from the Dodger game, Ben has an ERA of about 2.20. That is pretty incredible. I still haven't figured how that inning could have possibly happened. I have a good feeling about tonight especially if Chipper isn't back yet
  24. I guess that is what I was trying to say to, he gives up his fair share of hits/walks to righties but they have a lowsy .386 slugging % against him. So sure I suppose the other team full of righties could dink and dunk a run in every now and then but it doesn't appear that he gets hit hard against righties all to often
  25. Is a .714 OPS against RH hitters really all that bad though? Without looking up the stats I would bet that OPS against is one of the best in the bullpen against right handed hitters He is insanely good against LH but he seems to be pretty good, just not dominant against righties.
