  1. There better be at least one big prospect and not just 4 or 5 mediocre ones
  2. White Sox are apparently looking for a bat; hopefully Melvin is talking with them as we speak.
  3. If the Mets are that dead broke that they can't afford a good player like Gomez on a reasonable contract then they are a complete mess. Sooner or later it will come out that Wilpon killed the deal. That might explain why the GM sounded so pissed; he got the rug pulled out from under him. Somehow the Mets think they are going to find a good offensive player that costs even less than Gomez that won't cost them any good players. Good luck with that
  4. I fully expect something to go down by the deadline; don't know who but something will happen. You don't almost trade Gomez and end up sitting on your butt. Kind of surreal how everything played out last night. It seems odd that the Brewers backed out over medicals; I mean what would you expect? I did have TJ. As for Gomez I think if that really was the deciding factor for the Mets to back out than it was probably a cop out as a way to get out of a deal that Alderson 2nd guessed himself on. Or Wilpon told him to get out of it. Who the heck knows. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a burned bridge between the two teams now.
  5. Moss kind of sucks; if he is Cardinals solution to their 1B and OF problems I would be pissed as a Cardinals fan
  6. THe only knock I see in Wheelers MILB numbers are the walks. He has a good strike out rate and good H/9 rate. Doesn't give up a ton of homers either
  7. If you trade Gomez I think you have to go for broke and trade whatever other pieces you can. Parra, Segura, Krod, etc. CF is going to be a dumpster fire the rest of this year. Just bring up Taylor to make it a mildly interesting dumpster fire
  8. Flores hit for a great average with decent enough power in the minors and is still young; seems like a pretty solid option at 2nd to me
  9. I think most people think much more highly of Wheeler than people on this board. He is still only 23 and under team control for a long time. He hasn't quite put it together yet and is coming off of TJ but still has plenty of potential to be a really nice rotation piece
  10. I never really understood why approval was even in doubt. How many other stadiums have owners covered 50%? Its a heck of a lot more than normal. I think the State and Milwaukee are getting a steal. I don't know how big the economic impact will be but there isn't any denying how much revenue the state and Milwaukee would lose if they left. I think everyone is coming out ahead in the long run. It would have been so depressing to see a Bucks team that is finally trending in the right direction just pick up and move to Seattle.
  11. I didn't catch the little turd last night with the trap. Woke up this morning with him sitting on the top of the garage hissing at us because he couldn't get in. I might as well try the 5 galloon bucket idea in addition to the trap. Sooner or later this thing is going to make a mistake
  12. I still don't have any reason to believe the Brewers won't eventually trade at least one of Parra and Gomez. I would be shocked if Parra isn't traded since he is playing the best ball of his career and isn't coming back next year. Gomez is a little more iffy because he still has a year left on the contract. He is probably good as gone this offseason but I am not sure if he is traded in the next 3 days. Still a lot of time and someone could get desperate. I don't think there are a lot of contending teams in desperate need for a CF. It just sucks so hard that Garza and Lohse have tanked so badly. I think pretty much everyone was banking on the possibility of trading those guys if this year didn't go well. No one could have foreseen how bad those two would be; especially Lohse. He was a great pick up for the first 2 years of the contract
  13. I am going to try the humane thing and borrow a trap. Hopefully this isn't an exercise in futility; I think I am dealing with a pretty smart squirrel.
  14. Any good ideas how to kill a squirrel? I have one that chews through the siding of my garage and makes a little nest up in the rafters. I don't own any sort of pellet gun and to this point rat traps and rat bait haven't offed him. The stupid jerk of a squirrel hisses at us whenever we are in the backyard and he can't get in the garage. At this point I just want to beat the crap out of him with a shovel; if only I were fast enough.
  15. If we get anything more than a little salary relief or a minor league reliever I will be surprised. But Aram has been pretty darn good the last month or so.
  16. Personally I wouldn't do it; but say the Brewers think Yadiel Rivera is good enough to be an every day SS (At least as good as Segura). Would it be worth it to trade Arcia for a highly touted 3rd basemen, 1st basemen, or SP where the Brewers have a bit of a prospect gap? Say for Joey Gallo, Giolito, or Schwarber? I sure as heck would have to at least think about it.
  17. Also these guys are billionaires but even then its not like most billionaires have $500 Million in cash lying around. A lot of them are illiquid with real estate various businesses, etc They are probably borrowing a portion of the $150 Million they are already pledging to put in. And who knows how much they borrowed just to buy the team
  18. I think bringing in Monroe is a solid deal. He is not the greatest defender in the world but he brings an offensive game the Bucks haven't gotten from the center position in a really long time. MCW, Middleton, Parker, Giannis, and Monroe is a solid lineup with a ton of upside. The bench should be pretty soild as well with Zaza, Mayo, Henson, Dudley, and the rookie. Hopefully Giannis continues to develop a better outside shot and Parker comes back strong. I also could get behind trading MCW; I would even be fine starting Vasquez who can actually make a shot. MCW has his strengths but a PG who can't shoot at all really puts a strain on the rest of the offense.
  19. If Portis is there I am pretty confident that he will be the pick. If he is gone then I really have no clue; it could be 5 or 6 different guys. Looney, Grant, Harrell, Hunter, maybe Dekker. Crap shoot
  20. So is Tyrone Perry basically another David Denson? Meaning they both have huge power potential but are probably pretty raw.
  21. Skye Bolt is either a stripper or a superhero; not a CF.
  22. I agree; he has a long long way to go before he can be a legitimate division 1 players. Extremely athletic but beyond that he hasn't shown much at all. A 5 star rating is really rather ridiculous at this point. He was a role player on his HS team and has had no success at the AAU level yet for cripes sake.
  23. I don't think I would be in favor of that; Segura, Scooter, and Arcia would leave a pretty lacking SLG in the infield. You need SLG from someone out of those three positions.
  24. I just posted this in another thread; but Luc has 2.5 years left on his deal and is making less than $5 Million annually (Assuming the 2017 option is picked up). He is as complete of a catcher as there is right now; I am not sure there are two many prospects out there that would be off limits.
