    Just seems that in general young players aren't really happy with the current system. Howard wasnt happy this year, Fielder and Hamels arent especially happy about it this year. I don't know if these players are just incredibly impatient or if they really dont understand the economics of baseball. I mean the union that you belong to you agreed to the current system so if you are pissed that Craig Counsell is making more than you, you should complain to Donald Fehr not Doug Melvin.

    Yeah James would have been better off going to the NBA after his Frosh year. Seems he has gotten worse the last 2 years and I honestly don't think he would even get drafted. There are plenty of other good point gaurds out there that blow James away (Collison from UCLA, Rose from Memphis, Lawson from UNC) just to name a new. I think he has no choice but to come back next year whether that is actually good for Marquette who knows.

    I was a little taken aback by his comments but it really isnt a huge deal. Obviously Prince was initially dissappointed and it wouldnt suprise me if Fielder is the highest paid player in his service time group. I think it would be foolish for Prince to expect Howard numbers because he didnt get and MVP or ROY. I think he will eventually get over it however. I think there is about a 10% chance of a long term deal so I am just going to enjoy watching him while he is here. It will also be very interesting to see what Melvin does in what will be perhaps his most difficult decision as a GM. Do you trade Fielder after 2010 season or do you let him walk after 2011? Any trade involving Fielder might bring back the best crop of players in the history of MLB trades. I would be more than fine with that happening as long as we resign Hart, Braun, and Gallardo. We have 6 picks this year and we will have a huge arsenal of wanted players. I think the Brewers are set up very well for long term success EDIT: I should really proofread

    I fail to see how the Cubs win 1st base. Lee may have a big edge in defense but Fielder more than make up for it with his studliness at the plate. Also wouldnt be quick to proclaim Soto to be better than Kendall, although it probably wouldnt take much, I will reserve judgement on RF with Hart/Fukodome. Obviously Hart is a known commodity where Fuk is not, we wont know that till this season gets underway

    There is no doubt the national consensus (ESPN) is picking the Cubs to win, but its not like its a horrible prediction. The Cubs have a good team, not a great team, but a good team. The Brewers certainly are an up and coming team but until they prove that they are winners and are consistently winners I see now problem in people picking the Cubs. They are by no means the clear favorite because I think people may be underestimating the Brewers and the Reds. Both of these teams have tons more potential than the Cubs. The Cubs are starting to get old, their offensive corp is on the wrong side of 30 and I will believe all the Soto hype when he actually shows something. One spectacular AAA does not a superstar catcher make.

    The more I read this the less likely that we will be going to Jamaica. Hawaii I believe is to expensive. Does anyone have an opinion on the safety and other accomodations of the Domincan Republic or the Bahamas. I also hear a lot of good things about St Kitts

    I think he would have a decent shot, although to actually predict a 30/30 season is a little foolish IMO. 30/30 guys just dont occur that often. We could also have like 4 20/20 guys if we really wanted (Weeks, Hart, Braun, Cameron) This team has a very unique blend of speed and raw power. We aren't exactly a contact/singles hitting team. If we do hit it it tends to be hit very very hard.

    We are more in to rest and relaxation but I would also be up for snorkeling, boating, kayaking, etc. There is a Sandals resprt in Negril that caught my eye just because the reviews on Expedia were so good, just about everyone loved it, however it is on the expensive side. We were thinking about Mexico as well but I would assume we would need to apply for a passport pretty quickly because at least from what I hear the whole process is a little backed up right now.

    My wife and I are starting to plan a vacation for this November. We are looking at someplace warm obviously, Florida, Caribbean, Mexico, or Hawaii. We are both young (24 and 23) and have no kids. I would be interested if anyone has any recommendations or if anyone would like to share their vacation experiences either good or bad. We are leaning towards an all inclusive type of deal so I would be especially interested if anyone has had any experiences with those types of places. This is the first time I actually have to plan a vacation, it is kind of nerve racking. Would anyone recommend a travel agent? I have basically been looking online through expedia, travelocity, as well as various other websites (like Sandals) Any tips would be great and like I said I am always up for a vacation story even if it went horribly wrong

    And I thought I was making progress when I switched from beef burgers to turkey burgers. I guess I have a long way to go. My wife while not a vegetarian is huge into all natural foods and I just cant get myself excited by a life full of flax seed, fruits, vegetables, and no good potato chips (Blue Cheese/Hot Wing Doritos)

    Your also missing barley and hopps Back when I lived with my folks in the country we have a huge garden I would estimate it to be about 20 feet wide and 50 feet long. We grew just about everything under the sun, but it took a lot of work to keep it from becoming weed infested. We never did believe in the whole weed barrier garbage, never worked anyways

    Check out Haudricourt's latest Blog entry at JSOnline. He states that there is a possibility that Villy could start the season n the minors since according to Yost he has options left and he might due what it takes to maintain their surplus of pitching. I would assume that to mean if no one seperates themselves and since certain pitchers have no options remaining that he might entertain putting Villy in the minors. To me this seems ludicrous. There cant be 11 other pitchers that are better than Villy, I dont care if he has to go to the pen but sending him down would be idiotic in my opinion.

    When you live in an apartment building and have neighbors above you who I can always hear yelling and screaming at each other and thier kid, who own a dog and and never clean up after it and who I think make their dog crap right in front of my patio window. Must be Cubs fans
