  1. They have been a pleasant surprise but they won't be able to compete with the top 10 in the NBA yet this year. They might beat a couple good teams here or there but to make the playoffs they need to keep beating the bad teams. It is apparent they won't be anywhere close to the top 5 picks this year so you might as well play for the playoffs. If the playoffs started today they would have a #4 seed which is kind of nuts. Giannis has really exceeded my expectations so far; Parker has been a little slow to come on but he has hardly been bad. Definitely a fun team to watch.
  2. Crazy Game of Poker is a pretty solid song; but I don't know one other song that OAR sings. I probably would have to hear them to remember.
  3. This would go a long ways towards contending in 2015 if the thumb is indeed healed. I am in the camp that I will believe Braun can be MVP caliber Braun when I see it. I am not expecting it at this point.
  4. They should have just gone with Miley Cyrus, Nickelback, and Justin Bieber. The trifecta of horribleness that would gotten people to the game and concert in droves. Probably could double the face value of the tickets
  5. That doesn't seem like a bad list though; they are good enough to draw a decent crowd.
  6. The value of the franchise is irrelevant in the discussion about having the monetary capability to contend. Yes if MA decided to sell the team tomorrow he would make a boatload; but that doesn't mean the team can afford to sign FA X this season. It all comes down to cash flow; no sane businessman would overspend on payroll or any other area knowing that they couldn't afford to pay. Yes you could say MA could subsidize the loss from this other business interests but MA didn't get to be a billionaire by making decisions like that. The Brewers are ultimately a business and no one really has any idea how much money is really made.
  7. That seems like a dumb argument to me. SF is a big market club that could have paid just as much money for Sandoval if they wanted; same with LAD and Ramirez. Its not like this was some big market team signing a small market teams best player (Like Fielder or Sabathia). This was the rich taking from the rich.
  8. Sandoval's slugging is probably going to spike going from SF to Boston. He is going to love those short porches in RF in both Boston and NY. I don't think it is a no brainer for the Red Sox, there is definitely some risk on their part. Sandoval has been a good player; but they are paying him like a great player. It has been nice to see some talent leave the NL so far this year. Sandoval, Ramirez, Martin. Hopefully Liriano ends up in the AL too.
  9. Knight has already gotten better this year compared to last year. Turnovers are up a bit otherwise everything else has trended pretty positively. I wouldn't consider him an All Star by any means but he is a pretty solid PG at the moment. I don't think his ceiling is too much higher than where he is right now but he is should be considered a good quality player. He just obviously isn't and won't be on that Rose, Paul, Irving, level. I like him a lot more than I like Jennings that's for sure.
  10. I would be all over this; perhaps Zimmerman would be interested in signing long term for his home town team. His salary in 2016 would take up most of the Gallardo and Lohse salaries coming off the books that year. Zimmerman, Peralta, Nelson, and Garza would seem to be a good rotation in 2016. That being said the Brewers might be better off trying to sign him next offseason than trade for him now. You almost certainly have to give up Arcia and Taylor/Coulter in any package and I would not be wild about that unless you knew he was staying long term. And you probably can't count on that.
  11. Giannis playing a ton of minutes is really nice to see. With the progression of Knight and Giannis this year the future is looking really bright and they are already winning games. Knight, Parker, and Giannis looks to be an outstanding core. Sanders is a serviceable Center. Wither Parker/Giannis manning the 3/4 spots; all Kidd and Hammond have to do is figure out who should be that 2 guard. Personally I think it should be Middleton although he takes some poor shots every once in a while. Dudley hasn't done squat and Mayo has been perfect off the bench. Of all the guys who have played I think Ersan and Dudley should be those 10th and 11th guys. I don't think anyone could have honestly expected this start to the season; they will go through some growing pains but it looks like this team is closer to competing than anyone though. They won't challenge Chicago or Cleveland in the East but maybe in a couple years they can.
  12. That sounds like a pretty good idea; but I wonder if it might create a need to carry a 3rd catcher if Lucroy and Navarro start together in games fairly frequently. I think Navarro would make a good addition to the team though.
  13. Another weird rotation last night; minutes are never consistent game to game. But another win and now over .500; never saw this amount of success coming.
  14. Yikes is anyone going to be Kentucky this year? Granted Kansas was probably over rated but that team is so deep, tall, and talented it will be awfully hard for anyone to knock them off. You have to play a really good game and do a great job on the boards to even have a chance. I don't think they are a great outside shooting team but they don't even need to be since they have such a huge advantage down low. Not to say Wisconsin couldn't beat them in the NCAA tourney; but man it would be really tough. We should all be hoping right now UW ends up on the opposite side of the bracket from them. Also that UW - Duke game is going to be fantastic. Duke is a really good team as well.
  15. Well I managed to replace the headlight; although I needed some help from a friend. Getting the darn mud flap off was really hard; some really tough angles to work with. Of course a lot of the plastic retainers wouldn't work to re-attach the mud flap so I have to go out and buy some soon. But at least I got enough on there that it isn't going anywhere. I would not recommend anyone trying to do this themselves unless you can get to the light from under the hood.
  16. Do you think a place like that would use the part I already bought? It only cost me $7 and I am sure it would probably be triple that if the place used their own headlight. I am inclined to just try to do it myself first; if I screw it up I am only out $7. I printed off the instructions from the owners manual so I think I can do it. But I am absolutely not an mechanically inclined person.
  17. Well I didn't get around to changing the light last night; some things came up and couldn't get to it. But I did figure out I have to take the mud flap off to get at the light to replace it. So that isn't exactly taking the bumper off or anything but I can't just pop the hood either. Of course the mud flap is caked with ice right now so I will have to chip that off. Because my one car garage doesn't have heat and is mostly filled with kids toys and lawn/garden equipment; I get to do this with a flashlight in the freezing cold tonight, yay!!
  18. I wish I was more knowledgeable about car repairs. I am going to try to replace a burnt out headlight tonight rather than pay an arm and a leg for the dealership to do it. We will see how it goes; Hopefully eHow isn't lying to me.
  19. For 2015 the Cards got better but they also lost some rotation depth for sure. I am sure the Cards will make a big effort to resign Heyward; otherwise trading 4 years (?) of Miller for 1 year of Heyward and a reliever doesn't seem to make a ton of sense.
  20. Holy crap what a terrible idea by Toronto. They must think they are really close to a World Series to fork over this sort of dough
  21. Well the Bucks are going to beat the Heat in Miami tonight after being destroyed by a bad Orlando team on Friday. Makes sense
  22. That is an incredible amount of money that Stanton just guaranteed himself. The Marlins just committed to one player like 6x the total salary they paid last year. There is no way the last 5 years of this deal or good at all but props for Stanton for taking Miami over the woodshed. Hopefully there is a no trade clause and an early opt out so Stanton controls this more than the scumbag Loria.
  23. Based purely on performance to date; Wren has been far better than Quintana. Not a bad player to have in the system. I am guessing since the Braves fired his dad that there were relationship issues and they felt it was best to part ways with his kid.
  24. Once Fischer is eligible I think they could be a pretty good team; but until then their tallest player is 6"7" and they have very few players that have shown the ability to score. I too am excited to see Wilson; he could be the wildcard. As it stands I think Marquette is probably a borderline tournament team but if they get some improvements from the young guys, Derrick Wilson doesn't shoot, and Fischer steps in as a good center then they could creep up a bit.
  25. The development of Wang in the AFL has been a very pleasant surprise. If he amounts to anything DM is going to look like a smart man. Where is he going to play next year? AA maybe? The Biloxi team has a chance to be really good depending where all the prospects land.
