    Short of a whole mess of minor league players walking out and not playing; I don't think this is an issue MLB owners really care a whole lot about. They figure there is a very limited supply for these jobs and very high demand. They are getting out of the system right now what they need to get. I would be curious to find out the effects if just one single team decided to drastically increase the MILB salaries. What kind of effect on their system would it have? I am sure the fringe AAAA players would be knocking down the door trying to get a spot in AAA, but what about everything else. Undrafted free agents?

    Tough break for Jabari. The East is so bad that the Bucks still might make the playoffs; but they surely have no shot of making it out of the first round. Hopefully Middleton gets more minutes that Ersan or Dudley

    For as bad as the played against OSU it is a little nuts to think that they were up 17 on LSU and should have won and somehow lost a mind boggling game to Northwestern where Stave just played horrible. They should have been undefeated going into the B10 championship. Good luck to Chryst in 2015. Joel Stave will be the QB, Melvin Gordon will be gone, and your first game is against Alabama.

    I probably wouldn't even need to be that high. 40K for A ball, $60K for A+, 75K for AA, and $100K for AAA. I think MILB players would be pretty ecstatic with that. Assuming 25 players rosters that would put the total organization cost would be around $7.5 Million if you aren't including the Dominican League. So for the entire MILB system they would be paying for the equivalent of a league average type outfielder.

    Would they even consider just sending Taylor to AAA right away given the lack of bodies there?

    UW is totally losing AK over this and we are going to have Joel Stave at QB in 2015 with no Melvin Gordon and no receivers.

    Why couldn't the OC or the DC coach the team in the bowl. What good could Alvarez possibly due as head coach. 2 years ago in the Rose Bowl I think he was just a figurehead that didn't actually do anything.

    I thought that to; I thought he was always tied to Anderson with being from Utah. However I think he already signed is LOI so I don't know that he can just leave. But I would not be at all surprised if he does. Hopefully UW can hang on to the rest of the class. I was really looking forward to Austin coming because he seemed to have the talent to finally turnaround the sorry QB position. I wanted him to come in and really push Stave so I wouldn't have to watch Joel chuck inaccurate passes everywhere for another year. I really don't think Chryst will happen. Bevell maybe; I like the idea of Dave Doeren. Anderson came out of nowhere so who really knows who is on Alvarez' list.

    I think this pretty much sums up where the Brewers are right now. Good enough to be competitive and potentially in the playoffs if everything breaks right for them (see 2014 minus September) but more realistically are a .500 team that cannot compete for the division and are a step or two behind SF, LA, STL, PIT, WAS. Additionally, the farm system doesn't have the Braun, Fielder, Weeks, Hardy, Hart type players that gave us hope on the horizon. Essentially, it appears the Brewers today are at the zenith of how competitive they can be for the foreseeable future without much hope in the way of elite prospects on the horizon. That is depressing... I am pretty sure people have been saying that for about 4 years now. People have been predicting doom and a huge downturn for a while now and at least to this point the Brewers have still hung onto quite a bit of good talent and have remained competitive. The division is absolutely getting better so it will be tough; but I don't think it is unreasonable to think that the Brewers can make the playoffs in 2015. More than anything it will simply come down to Ramirez and Braun; if they aren't healthy and producing for the majority of the season the Brewers are probably in trouble. If Ramirez can at least avoid falling off a cliff and Braun can get back to being a 900 OPS player; then the Brewers have a chance.

    If they are selling these guys off you would think they would go all the way and try to unload whoever they can of Bruce, Votto, and Phillips. I would take Frazier off their hands. Votto is probably impossible to trade but they could get rid of the other two.

    This could happen; the blog post by Tom this morning made it sound like Melvin has nothing that would get done during the meetings though. I am not expecting this to be Gallardo or Lohse; but you never know. I just don't think we would get much in return.

    Wojo made reference to Burton being way to one dimensional and not providing and defense or rebounding. If Burton deserved to be playing he would have been. This year will be a struggle but this team will turn around quickly next year. Duane Wilson and Luke Fischer will be great players and then they are adding Ellenson and some other strong recruits. They should be ranked fairly high next year. For now they probably should shoot for the NIT and just work on improving the young guys. This team might have been different if Mayo stuck around.

    Bevell or Paul Chryst are the two names that immediately come to mind. I wonder if it is a combination of Barry being the boss and perhaps having too much influence on the program and also the admissions policies. I think the admission policies is crap though; Stanford and Notre Dame among other elite schools seem to get talent in just fine. That fact the Bielema and Anderson both left for similar status jobs at best is discouraging. Its Arkansas and Oregon St for petes sake. Oregon St is a horrible job.

    I must be in the minority; I never thought it was a good idea to trade away your best players in their prime before their contracts expired. I wanted to win and those players helped us do that. I don't really understand why so many on here always want to trade your best players at the height of the prime. Hello they are your best players. Maybe if they had no hope of competing you do that; but sure don't do that now, especially with the 2nd wildcard. I simply have no interest in going through the early part of this century all over again; because that is apparently what people want to have happen. I will never understand it. As long as we have a chance to compete; I want to compete. Do you think it is fun to be a fan of the 76ers or Astros or Cubs in the last couple years. It would just suck.

    Why are the Astros even buying a bullpen. I could understand if they had a legitimate shot this coming year but really do they? I think they jumped the gun.

    Personally I don't think Lind qualifies as "barely a change". He should be a massive upgrade while playing the majority of the time at first base. Just that coupled with a hopeful Ryan Braun has me optimistic next year for sure. Yes some things will have to go right but I think the talent is there. Doug does need to fill some holes in the bench and bullpen yet though.

    Next draft the Bucks probably should target a PG or SG. If they would luck into #1 they absolutely should take Okafor; he would fill in perfectly at the #5. Then you let Sanders be a really good backup or you trade him. However in all likelihood they will be drafting in the #10-#18 range where they would be looking at guys like D'Angelo Russell from Ohio State, Myles Turner from Texas, Caris LeVert from Michigan, Tyus Jones from Duke, and perhaps the two Wisconsin players.

    Personally I think the odds are still good that the Chi Sox will suck with all these moves. They are being a little too aggressive it appears. That is simply way too long and too much for a closer.

    Other than trading Gomez or Lucroy we aren't getting the type of prospects that would drastically change the club's outlook 2 or 3 years from now. Because that is the case I would rather go for it again. Trading guys like Lohse or Gallardo in the last years of their deal won't get us any significant prospects. MA and DM are never going to blow the whole thing up after having been in 1st place the majority of the year. The Brewers would probably be incredibly bad in 2016 if we decided to trade Lucroy and/or Gomez. I sure as heck don't want to go through an Astros style rebuild.

    I would also have no problem trading Parra if only to come up with some more dollars to throw at the bullpen. Parra is the 4th OF at this point and Melvin should be able to find some cheaper options even if they aren't the defensive player that Parra is. Spend the extra $5 Million on the bullpen.

    I will be surprised if we have a big signing or a big blockbuster trade; but there is no doubt in my mind Melvin is looking hard at a lot of bullpen guys and utility players. Perhaps he doesn't come out of the meeting this week with anything; but we are not starting spring training with the bullpen and bench we have right now.

    I had to take it 3 times. First time I got an automatic DQ for pulling out in front of someone. Second time the lady had me so stressed out and uncomfortable that I made too many mistakes. The 3rd time I had a really nice guy who made the road test easy. Some of the DMV workers are just so unfriendly it can really intimidate a teenage driver into screwing up.

    Isn't pretty much every contending teams strategy each offseason to fill in the previous season's biggest holes? That is the surest way to make sure you improve and compete the next year. GM's are always on hot seats; they need to worry about this next year; not 5 years from now. You can't really blame them. Not everyone has the luxury of being Jerry Jones (I.E. no chance of getting fired if you screw up).

    The Good: - Kaminsky showed up and played well - Jackson kept us in the game in the 2nd half Bad: - Dekker. 1st round pick my butt. He was incredibly passive last night; almost invisible. I don't know if his ankle is still bothering him or what but he didn't show up - Hayes getting in early foul trouble Ugly: - If you let a team shoot 66% then you are probably lucky you only lost by 10. Duke is a very good team but UW also let them get to the basket at will and in generally played pretty poor defense. Still a lot of time to improve; the perimeter defense has to get better. Jackson and Koenig got schooled all night by Jones. Dekker needs to get a lot more assertive in his game; he never once even attempted to take his guy to the rim last night. As soon as he touched it he was looking to pass. It was weird.

    Who is excited for Duke vs. Wisconsin tonight? Should be an awesome game with a lot of intriguing matchups. So long as Jackson doesn't play with his head up his butt I think we pull this one out. It seems like he is the weak link on the team this year. Duke has strong PG play and Jackson has to avoid the turnovers.
