  1. Ed Price (Fanhouse writer) is tweeting the same info - 3 yr deal. LINK
  2. Doesn't necessarily have to be Lucroy and Salome at AAA. Players can be exchanged for players on other teams, some of whom pitch. IF all 4 are in the organization in March, let 'em battle it out. If Kottaras hits well, I'd prefer that he gets the #2 slot in MLB. If not, release him and give it to Lucroy. My preference (like FTJ) is Lucroy playing every day in Nashville. Edit: clarified my remarks
  3. Milwaukee @ Houston, from 1998. Apparently the Big Unit tosses a complete game shutout, so it might suck to watch from a fan perspective. But - it's Matty V and the Rock! Brad Woodall starting for the Crew.
  4. Diamond Taylor and Jeremy Glover were kicked off the team for being idiots - stole some stuff from dorm rooms. Taylor transferred to Southern Illinois. Glover is still at UW, not sure if he has a chance to earn his way back with good behavior or not. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/57777562.html
  5. To paraphrase Sir Smokes-a-lot: It's hard being young and gifted. Sometimes he wants to throw it all down and get LIFTED.
  6. "Idiots. I'll design it myself! I know what people like - it's got to have sex appeal and a catchy name!" http://www.pixeljoint.com/files/icons/full/casino.gif
  7. I don't understand the theory that this acquisition of Sabathia/Teixeira/Burnett is somehow "above and beyond" the past acquisitions of Jason Giambi, Mike Mussina, Kevin Brown, Gary Sheffield, Roger Clemens, Hideki Matsui, Jose Contreras, El Duque, Javier Vasquez, Carl Pavano, Raul Mondesi, Randy Johnson........... This team is no more a collection of mercenaries than any Yankee team of the past 10 years. So why all the outrage and "death of the game we love" talk now? Don't get me wrong, I hate NY as much as anyone else. But I'm still going to watch the playoffs (wouldn't dream of missing it) and will not jump off a bridge if the Yankees win. Nor will I concede them the title for the next 5 years, as some are wont to do.
  8. That's a pretty classy hire.
  9. I watched a lot of Dodger games this summer as well, and completely understand the sentiment. Irreplaceable.
  10. Oh Vin, why are you leaving us without your smooth pipes after this season!? The Dodgers are the next team after the Brewers whose games I've watched most since we've had Extra Innings. It's always worth it to tune in for Vin. He will be missed http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif You mean next season, right? Everything I see online says 2010 is his farewell season.
  11. The other side of that coin is, without the public he has no legacy. They don't play NFL games in a vacuum.
  12. I'd say that Dick Pole really got the shaft here.
  13. Depends what policy he is on. Day games they can serve until end of hte 7th (like MP) and night games it's the 6th.Think you might be wrong on this....I believe that for day games they sell through the 8th inning, and night games are the standard 7th. I sat in the bleachers for a day game last summer and remember this vividly, as I was pleasantly surprised at getting 1 more inning of service. With the propensity of fans in Chicago to take public transportation or walk to Wrigley, there's less of a "drive home safely" element so I can somewhat understand the policy. Anyway, this probably explains why Fresno Guy was upset.
  14. I dunno, Robert....do you really think the Brewers are ready to "bring their Z game"? WARNING: Unintentional Comedy
  15. No kidding. This awful man was on my television screen for 12 SECONDS and I was not entertained! Burn him at the stake! The guy made some silly videos with his friends on YouTube and found a way to get paid. Good for him.
  16. As far as I know, he's never played the hot corner either....just 2B and P. http://www.wiskate.com/news/data/upimages/chewie-baseball-card.jpg http://www.wiskate.com/news/data/upimages/bdd_Chewbacca.jpg
  17. A bit off-topic: I'll give you Contreras, but I wouldn't describe El Duque as "mediocre". Especially considering that he started his major league career at age 32. He posted some fine seasons for the Yankees (and even his later tenure with the Mets), not ace-quality but definitely a solid #3 or lower tier #2 starter. Top 4 similar pitchers according to b-r: Lackey, Penny, Carpenter, Beckett. (This ends my arbitrary and random defense of Orlando Hernandez http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.)
  18. I know the EMT's are professional to a T, but it would be pretty damn weird to give CPR to Michael Jackson.
  19. "Wow, Jim hit a fly ball to the warning track!" Wind held it up...Jim was robbed.
  20. A certain baseball team from Milwaukee is playing in Chicago that weekend...you could try and snag some tickets off StubHub or Craigslist.
  21. NO! I made a pledge to the widow Mantle that I would name my dog "Seven"! How about Soda?
  22. I like how he says that it's "an embarrassment". As a UW alum, not once have I hung my head in shame over us not having a baseball program. Would it be cool to have? Yeah, sure...I'd love to sit out in the right field bleachers and come up with creative, mildly obscene taunts. But not when it's cold and drizzly out. (Especially considering that they use aluminum bats anyway, so it's hardly baseball in my opinion. Start acting like grown men and swinging lumber, and then we'll talk.)
  23. This brought a smile to my face because: a) Julio is gone b) When something goes wrong with Burns on the mound, I can pull out the old "I was saying 'boo-urns'" line, and it will make sense.
  24. Technically, shouldn't Stan Kyles be called "The Barista"? After all, he's the one who serves up the Coffey.
  25. The reason I started my MLBlog was to be able to share it with other fans, kids, parents, etc. so they could learn how to ballhawk themselves. Now, I'm no officer of the law, but couldn't this be considered "contributing to the delinquency of a minor"? The glove trick is NOT illegal. Nor is it stealing. It's simply obtaining a ball that would not normally be attainable by the use of some sort of device. Head asplode.
