You might have been able to slide a Journal-Sentinel under Kotsay's feet on that jump ... but not a Sunday edition. -
If anyone in BF.NET nation is interested in playing some softball and representing the web site, our 2011 team is down to just 10 or 11 members and we're looking for a couple more. We play Thursday nights in Bay View, total fees are about $38, first game is Thursday, May 19th. It's a social league, not overly competitive ... it's just about having fun and getting the BF.NET name out there. We're looking for committed members, as in, individuals who will pay attention to the Softball Forum and respond to pertinent threads there. (Or at the very least reply to PMs.) To express interest, you can reply here, send me a PM, or respond to our 2011 sticky thread in the Softball Forum. Thanks!

11 counting Al, assuming that Recte is in ... worried about that one. My guy (Matt / Schubert / BrewerfanMatt) sent me an email today to say he was definitely in, but he's out of town this weekend and can't make the practice. I have faith in him. I'm all about having 1 or 2 more official members on the team if anyone wants to invite anyone. I was thinking about posting something in BF.net's Off Topic forum tonight.

Practice Sunday, May 8th! 4:00 PM - Lafollete Park
valpocrewsader replied to valpocrewsader's topic in Other Sports
Sounds like Sunday is the better day, despite it being Mother's Day. Time TBD based on weather. Afternoon likely since fields might need time to dry from rains earlier in the weekend. EDIT: We'll do LaFollette park again, north diamonds. -
Was greinke talking to the 2B ump at the end of the inning? I wonder what about.
-
Should we shoot for a practice this weekend? Forecast looks like good weather Friday, dicey weather Saturday, and good weather Sunday. Friday evening after work? Sunday morning? Sunday afternoon?
-
14-16 would look a lot better than 13-17. Need a win before .500 completely gets away from us.

Ugh, Preds get hosed by the ref in OT ... what a disgrace. Phantom hooking penalty to put a stud defenseman in the box so Vancouver can go on a power play against a fatigued, short-handed defense late in OT1. Total screw job. In situations like this, I don't know how players are able to keep their cool and not retaliate against officials ... I could never do it, I'd hurt a referee in a case as bad as this. Or at least get in his face and scream about how he gifted the other team a win.

Buying single game tickets on the Brewers website. Am I an idiot, or is there really know way to choose your specific seat or even section? I usually deal with my season ticket rep, but this morning I felt spontaneous so I jumped on the site and was really frustrated that I had no choices. When I book tickets on an airline I can choose my exact seat, but on brewers.com I can't even specify that my seats be on the third base line instead of the first base line? I feel like I'm missing something....?

I wonder how many games I'll need to watch before seeing goaltending as good as Rinne's last night again. Incredible stuff. Excellent game from hometown guy Suter, too. Go Preds!
-
Drick texted me to say he'll be there, too. Looks like we'll have at least five guys....
-
All right, hopefully we'll hear from other team members so it's not just you and me! We're set for 11:00, Lafollete Park (92nd and just north of Greenfield), we'll shoot for one of the two diamonds on the north end of the park.
-
Probably late morning, like 11:00??
-
Location? I was thinking Lafollete Park on 92nd and just north of Greenfield, where we had the scrimmage last year.

Weather forecast looks nice on Friday, high of 60 degrees and sunny. Any interest in getting together after work to shake the rust off? Saturday is supposed to be decent, too -- at least the first half of the day -- so maybe that day? Drick mentioned something in another thread about Field of Dreams on Saturday. I'm not really into batting cages, but that would be another possibility if y'all are interested.

Welcome back, Tyler!

UPDATE on the roster situation. Houlie has informed me that the few guys he thought were in aren't playing afterall. On the positive side, if any of you were on the team a few years ago and remember my friend Matt who played with us (pitched and played SS ... screenname of BrewerfanMatt, I think), I talked to him and he's definitely in. I've refreshed the roster list below. 01. Radman 02. Drick 03. Nullbyte 04. Houlie 05. Beeks 06. Valpo 07. FireNick 08. Recte 09. Matt / Schubert / BrewerfanMatt Probably in, but do we know for sure? 10. Razzer's cousin Tyler Also mentioned: 11. Houlie mentioned his friend Al, he's subbed for us a few times, seems like a good guy and a good player 12. Nullbyte's brother Dan? 13. Nullbyte's "big masher 1B" dude? We didn't have a huge turnout at Club Paragon, I was hoping to touch base with Nullbyte about his two dudes and also meet Recte and confirm that he's in for sure. We'll have to start getting a few more confirmations on our "maybes" soon and/or start looking for a couple more guys.

Could have played, but Almonte was pinch hitting in a high leverage situation (tonight's 8th) instead of him? (Or did I miss an earlier Weeks pinch hit appearance?) Figured i'd come to this thread and see other than "could have played" when crappy Almonte was pinch hitting in a crucial situation.
-
All right, it's set. Friday (tomorrow), the 22nd, at Club Paragon. I will probably get there around 6:15-6:30, will shoot for an obvious spot when you first walk in, text me if you need info. (PM me if you need my number.) The GF will probably be with me, but I don't think she's planning on staying....
-
At the social gathering, we'll hopefully hammer out a near-final roster. Here's how I see it right now. Definitely in: 01. Radman 02. Drick 03. Nullbyte 04. Houlie 05. Beeks 06. Valpo 07. FireNick 08. Recte Probably in, but do we know for sure? 08. Andy //Houle mentioned him on page 1 09. Tyler //Houle said Tyler confirmed via text message? 10. (11.?) Mystery dude(s) //Houle texted me saying he had two more guys for the team, not sure if one was already Andy from page 1? Also mentioned: 11/12. Nullbyte brother? 12/13. Nullbyte's "big masher 1B" dude? Am I missing anyone? It'd be best if the non-definite's could create BF.NET forum accounts and post here, but I guess it's not really a big deal. Once the weather turns and we start having practices we'll really be able to gauge who's in and committed. Just hate to not have enough guys if people flake out....
-
Excellent, sounds like we'll have a decent showing. Location thoughts? I'm thinking Club Paragon now (Hwy 100 & Beloit Rd / 3578 S 108th St), sound good? Pretty convenient location, good place. Better suggestion?
-
Oh, I guess that's not Rollins out there at short. Not paying close enough attention...
-
Did the middle infielders just outright quit on the Almonte hit? Looked like they weren't even trying, especially Rollins.
-
From that last replay, it really looked like Rickie should have been able to turn that one and make it really close -- if not get him.
-
Geez, what happened there? I definitely meant Friday the 22nd.
