  1. RRR is a genius. I would have gone Nyjer for the L/R matchup needing just a single for the tie.
  2. Wolf. Some of us were really, really right about him being a terrible three year signing.
  3. Weeks ... Most frustrating defensive player ever. How the heck do you overrun that popup and not catch it. Can never get used to that guy's crappy D.
  4. I had the times wrong in the second half of the season. They've now been corrected.
  5. If that was aRoenicke orchestrated steal or hit & run, that's just terrible. Let rickie hit, don't force him to swing at junk.
  6. I'm assuming you're kidding Looked a little easier in live action. Got a quick trigger with Weeks after years of watching routine opportunities clank off his glove.
  7. I've got an extra one, too. PM me if interested. EDIT: Spoken for.
  8. Apparently, yes. ------------- quote ------------- 12. METAL SPIKES Several questions have been asked regarding the use of metal spikes. The following information is provided to help clear up the confusion: A. Metal spikes are legal in municipal men's leagues & women's tournament leagues. However, soft molded-type cleats are recommended. B. Men's affiliated leagues that do not allow metal spikes will specify that under Special League Rules on the back of their season schedule. C. Metal spikes are not allowed in any women's social or coed leagues. ---------------------------------
  9. Lowest BA on the team? I better step it up. Our reserves raked!
  10. All games at Sijan Field #2. Thursday 5/19 - White House (away, 1B) - 6:30 Thursday 5/26 - EA Sports Bar (home, 3B) - 7:30 Thursday 6/02 - The Terminal (home, 3B) - 6:30 Thursday 6/09 - Club Carnival (away, 1B) - 7:30 Thursday 6/16 - Bay Street Pub (home, 3B) - 8:30 Thursday 6/23 - White House (home, 3B) - 7:30 Thursday 6/30 - EA Sports Bar (away, 1B) - 8:30 Thursday 7/07 - The Terminal (away, 1B) - 7:30 Thursday 7/14 - Club Carnival (home, 3B) - 8:30 Thursday 7/21 - Bay Street Pub (away, 1B) - 6:30 Thursday 7/28 - White House (home, 3B) - 7:30 May 19th seems like a later start than usual, no? White House to open the season, Bay Street to end it. Should be fun. By the way, use this thread to mention any anticipated absences. EDIT: Oops, I had all the times wrong in the second half of the season. Now corrected.
  11. Had our manager's meeting tonight, I'll post the full schedule in a new thread but the good news is we start the year off in style against White House ... 6:30 game, so our game kicks off the league. Other random FYIs... - Arc limit for pitches is 6-12 ft. Apparently this is a rule change? They kept saying, "we're going back to 6-12 ft". If anyone knows how the rule differed last year, I'd be curious to know. - Sounds like they're going to start doing some strict testing of bats in a few of the leagues this year -- coed and women's, I think. Some kind of physical test, like a compression test, then the bat gets an approval sticker and only then is it eligible for use in league play. I mention this because they claim they'll be doing this for all leagues next year. Probably a good thing. - Our manager's packet came with an ASA team scorebook, so no need for anyone to get a team scorebook unless you think this one isn't good enough. - Total fees for an individual player this year should be about $37. That's an estimate assuming a 13 man roster. ~37 = 18.46 share of team fee (240/13) + 3.46 share of game balls (45/13) + 15 player fee. If anyone has any questions on rules ... metal spikes, bats, jewelry, alcohol, etc ... let me know, it should be in the material I have.
  12. You're in! Scouting report? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. As a die-hard follower of one of their conference foes, I know what they're capable of -- criminally underrated, impeccably well coached, talented, gritty, and lucky as sin. (What, five of their last six tourney wins have been decided by two points or less? Something like that.) They're an enigma that just plain gets the job done. (And their sense of entitlement precedes them. Maybe that's the key.) They didn't look any different in this year's conference tournament or NCAA tournament than they did last year ... Hayward or not. I've assumed Wisconsin was doomed since the matchup hit. Been fearing the game all week knowing it was bound to ruin my weekend. Stupid Butler, I hate you so damn much. I hope Wisconsin comes out and absolutely destroys them in the second half, but it just doesn't look likely.
  14. God do I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate Butler. I just want them to go away forever. So bloody sick of those spoiled bastages. And Badgers, why pick tonight to have your worst FT shooting night of the year???
  15. There's no way I can stomach watching stupid Butler beat Wisconsin, but I think it's about 75% likely that it's going to happen. Rough night ahead.... EDIT: To put things in context. To any Brewers fans who get riled up about the Cardinals and their "classy" arrogance, just spend five minutes talking to a Butler person and let them prattle on about the Butler Way. Horrible, horrible people.
  16. I remember going to Cincinnati in 2003-ish (final year before GAB opened) and we were able to tailgate in a small lot near the stadium. We didn't see any big lots, just numerous small lots. (Things might have changed since then.) No one else was really tailgating in our lot, and we heard a passer-by say to his kid, "Son, that's called tailgating". Felt like we were an exhibit at the zoo. We were proud.
  17. They should name a high school in West Allis after him.
  18. To be fair, isn't "passable" a bit of an understatement? A full-season MLB line of .735 would be the best OPS for a regular Brewers catcher since Damian Miller's 2005 season. And among qualified MLB catchers last year, only five catchers posted an OPS higher than 735 -- familiar names like Wieters, Pierzynski, and Y Molina were all sub-.700. I'm not saying Maldonado will hit that well at the big league level, just pointing out that 735 OPS for a catcher is nothing to sneeze at. We put up with Kendall's 640 OPS as an everyday catcher, even in our playoff year, so sign me up for a *backup* catcher who can hit north of that and play great defense (reportedly).
  19. Umm, Opening Day 2009 was under 40 degrees with 35 mph winds! It was miserable. Last year was amazing, though....
  20. I know it's too obscure, too old school, and stylistically too much of an acquired taste by 2011 standards, but nothing would beat Helloween's "Save Us" for a closer's song.?The rising intro as two badass fighter pilots exchange "this is not a test, this is operation sunrise" and "check your radar, radar in check" . . . guitars faintly providing backdrop before they explode with the sounds of afterburners at 0:19 . . . I can just see the bullpen doors breaking open at that moment.? Awesome power metal riffing guitars and high-energy tempo usher our hero into battle before the verse informs the opponent that "it's too late to call for the priest!" . . .?By the 1-minute mark, the house is rockin in a frenzy for the very appropriate chorus, "Please..... Save Us!? Please... Save.. Us!" In my dreams, it's really really good.? I hold out hope that one day, the world of video games and virtual reality will bring this fantasy to at least some semblance of fruition.
  21. No issue. As I said in post #19, we have plenty of time to fill out the roster. Only the sponsor/co-sponsor idea needed to be figured out this soon because registration is now. I'm planning to head down to the Rec Office tomorrow, it's the only day I'm available to do so before the deadline next week. I'll just go with the usual straight BF.net sponsorship on the registration and pay the initial $240 team fee. Player fees won't be due for a while and we'll lump it all together and square up later. The co-sponsor idea could live on with the prospect of new uniforms, perhaps....
  22. Completely with you RoCo. I'm also NOT anti-violence, but fighting in hockey is just pointless and dumb -- ruins things. I equate hockey fans who get excited and start cheering about a fight with bad NASCAR fans who watch races mostly for the wrecks. (And before anyone gets too offended, my SO is one of those very hockey fans.) A fight breaks out while I'm enjoying a good hockey game, and all I can do is roll my eyes and bite my tongue until the immaturity subsides and they get back to playing the sport.
