  1. The nerve that there are people out there with chief interests in other areas of life, but that still enjoy good baseball enough to attend games and spend money on it, yet dislike rotten baseball enough to spend their time and money elsewhere. The nerve of those people..... I really can't fault anyone for losing interest in this team, frankly I'm astonished that the stadium is still filling up as much as it is with how pathetic we've been in July/August. Tons of public money for a stadium, promises that we'd be competitive, years and years of terrible finishes that yielded top draft picks, a higher payroll with lots of cheap talent for DM to work with ..... and it looks like we've peaked with an 83-79 season followed by a 90-win season that was entirely due to riding a rented mule that pitched out of his mind for two months. Ouch.
  2. If Dan is healthy, that brings us to 10.
  3. What happened last time we played these guys?
  4. In the words of the Four Tops, I'll be there....

  6. Would it kill Prince to stretch a little when receiving a throw on close play? The call on that bunt by Furcal coulda gone the other way had he not been standing straight up at the bag, catching the ball close to his body with his elbow bent. Terrible. Bill Hall looked awful in the outfield, per usual.
  7. "Your Love" is the best walkup song ever.
  8. The rankings of 2, 3, 4, and 10 were from preseason rankings. Mid-season reports place Drabek, Taylor, and Brown ahead of Carrasco. By the way, the same system that ranked Carrasco #2 for the Phillies, ranked him as 52nd overall. Pretty underwhelming. Here are the season stats of the Indians' acquisitions: Carrasco: 6-9, 5.18 ERA in 114.2 IP with 112/ 38 SO/BB Donald: .236/ .297/.332/.629 with 1 HR and 6 SB with 14/53 BB/SO Marson: .294/.382/.370/.751 with 1 HR and 3 SB with a 30/40 BB/SO Knapp: 2-7, 4.01 ERA in 85.1 IP with 111/39 SO/BB The best talent of the bunch is Knapp, who's in low-A and battling arm fatigue. Then you've got Crarasco's high ERA, Marson's low SLG, and Donald's worthless OPS.
  9. If Lee's contract was up at the end of the year like CC's was, this would be a fair package for Cleveland. Considering Lee's signed through the end of '10, the Indians got hosed. The Phillies farm system is awful and the Indians didn't even manage to get a top 3 prospect in return. Not enough for a non-rental reigning CY Young with a cool 3.14 ERA this year.
  10. Perhaps he's being showcased for a potential trade? Some other club wants to see how he'd look as a starter? Regardless, Villy's one of my favorite Brewers so I'll be pulling extra hard for him tomorrow.
  11. In the case of a tremendous offensive weapon such as Gerut, you can live with plays like that on defense....
  12. A level-headed discussion of selling is certainly warranted at this point. The key is returning players that will contribute next year -- I don't think it makes any sense to sell for guys that need until '11 or '12 to develop, too much can happen between now and then. A good fit would be a contender who wants what we have and also has top talent that is currently blocked and available to send back to us. I suppose this would rarely mean starting pitching, but maybe a Buchholz-type situation is out there where a top prospect has no spot. More likely, look for a team that has, say, a CF tearing up AAA with a veteran already firmly entrenched with big league club. Or a guy one someone's 25-man who can't crack the lineup due to veteran presence. Pitching prospects on track to be solid relievers soon would also be worth considering getting in return. Shed some payroll and set the organization up with better, exciting options for 2010. Then again, I guess you need to be careful to consider possible comp picks we might be missing out on by trading a guy like Hoffman.
  13. Interesting. Things could start to make a lot more sense when you consider the possibility that ESPN might block several hotel rooms together, could do it in advance in such a way that a person might know whose room they'll be next to, and might mean the person in that room would have inside knowledge on Andrews' schedule (exactly when she'd be out of the room and when she'd be getting ready). To be totally speculative, the person in the neighboring room could even be an audio video engineer / crew member for the network with advanced technology experience and know-how. My earlier post wasn't meant to sound like I was trying to find ways to discount her claim, just as someone who had seen the video there certainly were enough little things that could make one doubtful.
  14. "Staged" has the wrong connotation, but I'll say that when I watched it I assumed it was someone in her room like a boyfriend -- perhaps a boyfriend taking video secretly on a camera phone. Just the angle is perfect, it's so candid & for such an extended period of time, the shots appear like they're inside the room (see close up doorknob near end), and the camera operater seems to do enough moving and noise making that it felt like it had to be a known person in close quarters. I'm not saying it's any kind of proof of anything, but I could see how people would think it was staged or she was in on it. Just seems hard to believe that someone would have the same room next to her, have the exact angle figured out, drill the hole at a time when no one would notice, and then possess technology to capture decent video zoomed in nicely through an opening super small enough that she wouldn't detect noise and movement going on behind it. And on top of all that, she cooperates by walking around naked for five minutes right along the perfect angle! And on top of that, he's either randomly filming at just the right time or he's filming all day (but staying near the equipment -- he's definitely controlling camera in the video). Just awesome preparation and the stars aligning perfectly? So much work involved. I'll say, it just doesn't add up to me.
  15. I must be alone in hating to see major accomplishments, special feats, or broken records like this UNLESS it's my own team. I'd root against anyone pitching a no-hitter or perfect game unless it was a Brewers pitcher -- all this does is make the accomplishment less special and make it worse that the team I pull for isn't accomplishing it. It lessens the value of every no hitter or perfect game before it while at the same time making it seem like the Brewers are pathetic for having only one measly no hitter in 40 years. My day is literally worse from hearing this news.
  16. Escobar beats that out by about four steps. Damn you and your slow behind, JJ....
  17. ESPN2 has Jenny Finch sweating and playing softball .... FSWisconsin has a bum pitcher getting shelled by a AAAA team. Hmm.
  18. It ain't easy to be a rally killer when you lead off the inning with a single, but Lopez managed to do just that. Getting only 1 run that inning could really come back to haunt us. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  19. Stupid Lopez, totally unacceptable and costs us a run already.
  20. I'm surprised to hear you're 50% likely.... Looked pretty bad last week.
  21. A win tonight, and I think we can call it a streak. Anyone out for the game? In 01 valpo 02 tim 03 houle 04 radman (probable) 05 beeks 06 razzzor 07 icn 08 juddy 09 happy Out dan (doubtful) Unknown jamie brent
  22. Thanks Barry. Tonight's victory won't be quite as sweet.... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
