  1. As far as player fees go, I think I'm just going to continue collecting the original amount from everyone ($37.91). When Brent joins us, I can refund everyone the ~$1.70 upon his payment.
  2. Not enough interest for Wednesday, how about Saturday (weather permitting)? I'll update the lead post.
  3. Brent, it'd be great to have you back on the team. When are you returning to Milwaukee?
  4. I don't know how anyone could root for a Chicago team and still sleep at night. Just seems really lame and pathetic.
  5. Anyone interested in an after work practice on Wednesday? Weather forecasted to be 60+ and sunny, whereas clouds and rain are rolling in for late in the week and the weekend. EDIT: No interest, maybe Saturday? (reply #6)
  6. Chicago, the city, the cab driving-beating players, their lunkheaded goon fans, and everything about that swirling pile of excrement and arrogant jass ackery can thoroughly bite me, pound sand, and get bent.
  7. Looks like it might be best to take this weekend off, the weather on Saturday and Sunday are predicted to be complete washouts. I suggested a possible Friday evening practice, but it doesn't look like the interest is there. So maybe the weekend of May 1/2? Or an evening after work next M, T, or W?
  8. In order for me to make it, it has to be either Friday evening or first thing Saturday morning. I need to get out of town by noon on Saturday. When I checked the weather earlier this week, it didn't look good for those days. If you guys want to practice at a time I can't make it, I can try to get you the practice balls.....
  9. Were this to happen, I'd refund anyone who has already paid the ~$2 decrease this addition mean to the fee.
  10. Just when you think we've met our quota of defensive gaffes for the day, there's good ol' Corey Hart with an inability to field a ball on a slow hop. This team's pitching and defense is despicable. What a crappy year we're being treated to so far....
  11. ...And Weeks' glove is still awful. Two stone-handed plays within 5 minutes. Bum.
  12. Congrats to the Preds on taking game one!! The GF was in attendance at the United Center tonight and proudly wore her Preds gear in the sea of Blackhawk goons. The city of Chicago goes to bed disappointed tonight! Saaaave, Pekka Rinne!
  13. Reading through the thread, I'm surprised by all the heat Hawkins/Macha are taking and the relative free pass that Prince got. What a sad sack of baseball defense that was, just complete garbage. Fielder would be my goat of the game, no doubt. Absolute unacceptable trash.
  14. I don't know what it is, but it feels like every year there are less and less Brewers players that I really like. I look over the 25-man roster and I see only half a dozen guys that I care much about and enjoy having on the team ... it kindof sucks. Not really a talent thing, just general level of intrigue/connection/allure. It's sad to look at another team, like the White Sox or Orioles or Mariners or Rays or Twins or Braves, and feel more fascination and appeal to their players than those on the Brewers. Maybe my cynicism is just reaching new heights, or maybe I'm trying too hard not to be a fanboy, or maybe the grass is just always greener on the other side, but I miss getting caught up in the individual players -- at this point it's just basically hometown pride and a love of baseball that keeps me so interested in the crew. Hopefully transactions on the horizon will bring in players less painfully dull than the Wolfs, Davises, Vargases, Geruts, Edmondses, etc. ...Not a direct response to the OP, but a somewhat related discovery I've been wrestling with recently.
  15. More the merrier, getting some kind of scrimmage going would be good.
  16. Looks like it's on, I've updated the lead post. I'm hoping to get a $37.91 check from everyone in attendance. Also, I'll have player registration cards to fill out for those not at the last practice. Razzzor, is your cousin coming? If he and firenick are both at this practice, I'll have met all the new guys. Which would be nice.
  17. The earlier the better, how about 11:00? Last Saturday we met at 10:00, but we can go later for those coming from out of town. There was another group that showed up to practice around 11:45 last time, I'd be worried that noon would lower our chances of having a field
  18. If some people would prefer to pay now by mailing me a check, I'm certainly not going to complain. Just PM me and I'll shoot you my address. Waiting until practice is perfectly a-okay though.
  19. Thought it might be nice to plan the next practice with a little more notice. I'm open to suggestions on day/time/place. It's a little early to predict the weather, but assuming next weekend is nice enough, I'd be on board with anything either on Saturday or Sunday. For location, Dyer park is pretty centrally located in the metro area and there was a field open at all times when we were there this past Saturday. EDIT: Officially on. Saturday, April 17th, 11:00 AM at Dyer Field.
  20. I'm reading that this is the first time a Badger has won this award. I could have sworn a Badger player won a major individual award in college hockey back in 2000-ish. I can remember it pretty vividly, but I don't recall the name of the player nor the name of the award. I was pretty sure the award was named after a person's name, though. Was it maybe a goalie-specific award or something? Am I going crazy? I tried the Interwebs, but didn't find my answer.
  21. I thought maybe I was the only one surprised by McGehee's super slowness.
  22. Nick, for those players returning, I think we have a good idea of what positions suit everyone. Nothing is set in stone. Usually in our pre-season practices we're able to loosely plan that stuff -- happens pretty naturally.
  23. See ya there. EDIT: For anyone who sees this late, I reckon we will be out there until noon or so. Come on by.
  24. Anyone interested in a practice tomorrow, Saturday the 10th? Weather looks like it will cooperate, at least until the late afternoon. Time? Place? Whatever works for you guys, I have nothing going on.
