  1. Is it possible that the potential Santana deal was put on hold because they are waiting on a decision from Darvish? Perhaps the Santana deal includes dealing Woodruff and they don’t want to do that unless they have a FA pitcher in the fold first.
  2. Corbin would be a pure rental, which doesn't fit the mode of prior acquisitions. AZ: "Hey are you interested in Corbin?" Stearns: "Not really" AZ: "Ok, glad we discussed this" REPORT: AZ has talked to the Brewers about Patrick Corbin
  3. Between Braun, Santana and now Yelich, we have three starting corner OF. So it seems like Santana is the next domino to fall. As for CF, would we be better off signing Cain or go with a Broxton/Phillips platoon? Phillips seems to have cemented his spot now as the 4th OF.
  4. This move is going to be hated by those who overvalue our prospects, but the fact is we got a proven MLB hitter in exchange for guys who MAY pan out, and who have an even smaller chance of being as good as Yelich is right now. And we kept our pitchers? I can live with it.
  5. No, both clubs have already announced the deal as stated above.
  6. Gross. Brinson & Diaz stings enough, but I can sleep OK. Adding to it makes me nervous. Perhaps this was the original offer on the table and the additional players are what HH referenced when we upped the offer.
  7. Rosenthal hasn't confirmed the return but it is for multiple players, and rival execs believe it to be Brinson as the centerpiece.
  8. Rosenthal confirming Yelich is a Brewer.
  9. And isn't it still the "Badger Mutual insurance runs" they reference when the team adds to a lead late in the game?
  10. A screenshot from HighHeat in this thread indicating Darvish is signing with the Cubs is out there on Twitter. While we certainly are enjoying the tidbits we receive, I don’t want to risk HighHeat or his source getting into trouble. Is there a way to make a more secure sub forum (like we did with the private off-topic) where users have to be vetted to enter? It’s obvious these tools are lurking.
  11. As others have said, the Brewers likely aren't going to give away their best available trade chip for a guy like Teheran with (at most) 2 years of control. That's more of an "all-in" move, and this team is still rebuilding.
  12. Almost 2 weeks ago, Yu himself responded to a tweet that named the usual 5 clubs as being in on him with “I know of a 6th.” Wondering if the Brewers offer is recent, or if we were the 6th mystery team and word has just now gotten out.
  13. I had to brush up on the new draft pick compensation rules since I was initially confused why the Giants would shy away from Cain when they so desperately need OF help (while the Brewers seems to be in on him despite the OF logjam) if there were draft pick forfeitures at stake. For reference if anyone else had the same question: • If your team exceeded the luxury tax last season, it will forfeit its second- and fifth-highest picks and will have its international bonus money pool reduced by $1 million; an additional qualified free agent will cost the team its third- and sixth-highest picks. In other words: All first-round picks are now protected, and the highest pick a team can lose is from the compensatory sandwich round immediately following the first round. • If your team received revenue sharing last year, it will forfeit its third-highest pick. An additional player will cost the team its fourth-highest pick.
  14. Suggests to me that there were multiple claims and someone ahead of the Dodgers put in a claim as well. I'm not sure how either team would know that. To me, this suggests the Dodgers wanted him but didn't want to take any chances.
  15. Maybe I'm cynical, but that entire paragraph seems like it was written by Cobb's agent targeting the Cubs to increase their asking price.
  16. It's literally someone's job now to decide what is "canon" - which is essentially everything since Disney purchased Lucasfilm (films, books, comic books), along with the Rebels & Clone Wars animated series - and to weave it all together. I guess expecting all of the questions to be answered within the films is probably too lofty. Hopefully Snoke's backstory isn't relegated to some comic book, and maybe we'll get one (or more) Vader standalone movies between Episode III and Rogue One where he's hunting the last of the Jedi and Snoke is revealed to be a secret apprentice of Vader or Sidious.
  17. The Cubs biggest trade chip is arguably Kyle Schwarber to an AL club where he can DH.
  18. I think we were supposed to maybe notice that Luke wasn't making red streaks with his feet and Kylo was. That, and the fact it looked like Luke just got done shooting a "Just for Men" hair dye commercial.
  19. I was watching for this the second time I viewed it. Kylo & Luke never make physical contact, nor do their lightsabers. Luke avoids him every time.
  20. "I think he's going to suck." -David Stearns Stearns grabs his wallet... pulls a 20... pulls a lighter out.... sets it on fire. Yeah that's what I did, only bigger! "Mark told me to do it! Just like he did with Garza & Suppan!"
  21. Also per their twitter account, the Brewers announced the signings of both Chacin & Gallardo, but I don't see a corresponding 40 man roster move yet, as those signings should put them at 41.
  22. I would probably exclude any of the one-year contract guys from being in the top 5 rankings of worst signings. Those aren't going to be franchise-crippling deals unless you keep doing it year after year with the same poor results.
  23. Would anyone have Gallardo's stats for the first time through a lineup over the last two years? Or the first inning or two of his games started? If he had success in those areas, they very well could have been targeting him as a bullpen arm rather than a starter.
  24. I felt like the only reason they mentioned it was salt was because visually it probably reminded people too much of the Battle of Hoth and they felt the need to say "It's totally different because this time the white stuff is SALT instead of SNOW!"
