  1. This. I think the last couple of seasons have shown they want to add guys with varying velocities as well as varying arm slots.
  2. So the voting members decided CC was the most popular candidate for 1st place but he still didn't win? [sarcasm]What is this, the Electoral College?[/sarcasm]
  3. Clark has also played the most snaps of any DT in the entire league. He's also dealing with injuries to his shin and calf. It's not regression as much as it's lack of help and playing through injuries. The decisions made on scheme (they went with a lighter front against the Chargers to supposedly help with the pass, and Rivers kept checking into runs against it with huge success). I have zero reservations about signing Clark to a big contract. But you gotta get him some help.
  4. Just a few hours left to go. There seems to have been more activity this year than in recent memory, but so far no action that includes the Packers.
  5. At first I wasn't going to give too much thought about the "leak", but the side-by-side comparison showing the tweaks from the old BiG logo is reason enough for me to believe this is more probable than I had initially thought.
  6. It is like your birthday. You celebrate being 50 when your 50th year alive is complete...not when it started. They aren't 50 years old until the 2020 season starts...then you celebrate 50 years. 2010 they celebrated 40. Sports teams don't always abide by this. In 1993, the Packers wore this patch: http://content.sportslogos.net/logos/7/171/full/558.gif They celebrated the 1993 season as their 75th season, during the 75th season. There's a difference between celebrating a completed 50th year, vs celebrating the 50th year while it's ongoing. And it looks like it's not applied consistently for some reason.
  7. This part of the article made me laugh: It's almost like he doesn't understand that by signing them both, Gutey recreated the same environment to set them up to thrive. The Packers in 2018, even without marquee EDGE players, produced significant pressure on the QB in Pettine's scheme. Now armed with better talent, they're actually hitting home and finishing off with sacks.
  8. It was '99, which was one year too late for the Packers as the missed call on Jerry Rice's fumble knocked them out of the playoffs in Holmgren's final year with the team.
  9. "Just a Bit Outside." Shut it down. This is the perfect name. The restaurant is literally partially outside too (if the roof is open I suppose). Easy acronym ("JBO's" or "JaBO's"). Missed opportunity. Restaurant to be named later sounds like a funny quip that would be used in an article announcing the change if the name wasn't yet decided, but to actually call it that? Not smart.
  10. If you find yourself agreeing with Skip Bayless, you need to take a step back and reevaluate: This, coming from the guy who's a fan of a team that once featured Michael Irvin & Deion Sanders. The entire complaint from the OP is what makes me grimace at the realization that the Packers are easily the most comparable fanbase in the NFL to what we see in MLB and Cardinals. They're so comparable that it makes me sick just thinking about it.
  11. Yeah, if they are missing both of their starting tackles (Tyron Smith will be out for sure), there really is no excuse for not getting pressure. That would force, hopefully, their gameplan to shift towards shorter passes which will allow the LB/Safety group to play closer to the LOS which also helps against the run. Dak should be made uncomfortable all day.
  12. I would feel pretty good about this game if both Adamses (Tae & Montravius) were healthy. But after seeing what the run D looked liked and the passing offense looks like with those two out, it could be a long day. Historically it seems like Garrett usually shoots himself in the foot with his playcalling against us, so hopefully that trend continues.
  13. The draft pick for losing Green would be a 2021 pick, while a trade now would almost certainly be for a 2020 pick (plus you remove him from the comp pick formula equation if Cincy went wild in free agency). They are definitely better off right now moving him. But I'm sure it'll take a 4th from New England and it'll get done because teams absolutely love to help the Pats get better for some reason.
  14. The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, October 29th at 4pm. While the NFL action pales in comparison to what we see in MLB, and the Packers have tended to not do deadline trades in recent years, what are some targets that could entice the team to pull the trigger on? One name that's been mentioned a few times has been Emmanuel Sanders. With Denver starting out 0-4 and Sanders in the final year of his contract, he's a guy that may make some sense for a late round pick with the depth issues at the position in Green Bay.
  15. I had read something last week that both the Eagles and Packers were limiting contact going into this past week's games to be in the best shape possible for Thursday. And both are basically just doing walkthroughs for this week. The injury report is located here:https://www.packers.com/news/injury-report-packers-vs-eagles-week-4. Although since neither team actually practiced on Monday, these are just estimations provided by each team.
  16. Exactly what happened. Linsday's great effort got him to the half yard line, but it was Risner that should get credit for getting him across.
  17. I don't think it's good, but I do think the Bronco's also have a very good defense. They've got as good of a edge rushing duo as anyone with Chubb and Von to start with, two guys who can dominate one on one matchup's and a lock down corner in Harris Jr. Next week against the Broncos will basically be the 3rd week in a row where we'll play a Plus defensive team with a suspect QB.
  18. I'm pretty sure players have to pay for housing unless they have a host family. Yeah, that's why you hear lots of stories of 5 or 6 players living together in a small apartment. They get fed at the park, and a very small per diem on the road. They cover the rest of their living expenses. But you're talking about $45k for a guy that was actually on the 40 man roster. The rest are lucky to make a few thousand a month, and only get paid during the regular season.
  19. Man, I miss Greinke a lot. The scouting department even involved him in their draft evaluations (haven't gone back to look, but I wonder which pitchers were taken in those drafts and how they've developed). While in KC, he also took a struggling hitter into the film room to watch footage of Greinke hitting a home run. "In case you forgot what that looks like."
  20. Mench received a WWE-style introduction. I think part of that was he was a piece of the return package in exchange for arguably the most-loved player on the team at the time (Carlos Lee) and they needed to hype him up as an adequate replacement at LF.
  21. I'm not sure he and Braun could co-exist after the incident last year which was completely brought on by Bumgarner.
  22. So I'm assuming that 6 years is the magic number that would preclude him from being team-controlled when he came back, and would declare him a free agent?. Is that correct?
  23. That is also right before they play Houston and Seattle too I believe so they'll need a DH. That's what I was thinking. That's the Prince Fielder break-in blue print - bring him up to be the DH on the road vs AL teams.
  24. RE: Simmons and his character concerns. One obvious ace in the hole is that Luke Getsy spent last year at Mississippi State, so he will have some knowledge about Simmons and no doubt be able leverage his connections there to know everything that the coaching staff knew about him when allowed him to come on campus and play football. That being said, even if there are no concerns going forward, taking a guy at #12 with a torn ACL doesn't seem like a great idea.
  25. Some pitching stats thus far. It's still April, but it's hard to not come to the conclusion that losing Derek Johnson was a huge blow to the team. Current ERA rankings, NL: CIN (3rd): 3.22 MIL (15th): 5.37 HR allowed, NL: CIN (1st): 17 MIL (15th): 43 OPS against, NL: CIN (2nd): .668 MIL (13th): .791
