  1. Bernie Bytes with a few choice words for the Reds. I guess when your team is watching the playoffs from home, might as well take a few shots at the champs! But the Reds are the ones who are "whiny" according to Bytes. Oh I see. The Reds didn't earn it by beating up on inferior teams; rather the Cards "allowed" it to happen.
  2. I agree that they should bring in Listach for an interview. Also your post made me think of this guy: http://funrunrecords.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/farley.jpg Maybe I'm not "the norm," I'm not "a heartbreaker," I don't "own a toothbrush," and "I frighten small children..."
  3. His option isn't being picked up, so he wasn't "fired" but he won't be back nonetheless.
  4. I came here to find out the same thing, but I somehow stumbled onto the political forum. Maybe those parties involved would like to take this discussion over there?
  5. I too am annoyed by the BK breakfast jingles, mainly for lack of originality. I can't hear it without singing "Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made you out of clay..."
  6. Maybe they should get the Orioles to grant them permission to play the rest of the season as the St. Louis Browns. http://www.sportslogos.net/images/logos/53/88/full/1340.gif
  7. I sent in for a Nabisco offer in 1993 when I was a kid for an autographed Don Drysdale card, very shortly before he died. In fact, I think he died while we were waiting for the card to arrive in the mail: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_hd3qdc3nWUA/San_vGFpXbI/AAAAAAAAKvk/AVEtv2wxtH8/s400/dry.jpg Any idea on what it would be worth? I see that ebay has a few of these listed from around $60-$100. I also used to have (before my aunt basically bullied/guilt tripped my mom into giving it to her) a Milwaukee Braves game program signed by Eddie Mathews. My grandpa had worked at the Blatz brewery until his untimely death in 1956 when my mom was 7, and loved going to Braves games after work. Any idea on what something like that would be worth?
  8. Hauricourt confirms that Rogers will start Friday against the Marlins.
  9. http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/sports/nfl_online_mobile It's $49.95 (essentially $9.99/month). Apparently you can watch on your laptop or download an app for your smartphone if you're on the go.
  10. Yes, Pinella needs to make a fitting dramatic exit. Forget walking off with a base, that's been done. Bring out a claw hammer and remove the pitching rubber. Punch Carlos Zambrano in the face. If it's a home game, get tossed in the 6th inning then run up to the booth to sing "Take me out to the ball game" during the 7th inning stretch. Make it memorable.
  11. Nirvana - Nevermind (honorable mention to all other Nirvana albums) Pearl Jam - Ten And a guilty pleasure: Presidents of the United States of America - (Self-Titled) I can listen to that album on loop for an entire 8 hour workday and not get sick of it. I can't explain it. "Little dune buggy, in the sand..."
  12. He looks like he was hanging out with these guys all night. Here's to Bill Brasky! http://mrmillcity.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/bill-brasky.jpg
  13. Some will want to rag on the Brewers for not getting him signed, but as others have mentioned the Coveys stand to lose a great deal. How much can he really improve his draft stock? They basically had a $2 million Golden Ticket in hand. But we don't know which side walked away yet. Either the Coveys were unrealistic in their demands at the last minute or the news of his diabetes diagnosis scared the Brewers off.
  14. Could be the Covey's changed their minds once they heard a lower pick signed for way over slot and wanted even more.
  15. I got my new retro plates this past week. I wanted to go with something like "H8CUBS", but I figured that was just asking to get my car keyed or tires slashed so I went non-personalized. But it definitely stands out amongst the many Packer plates here in GB.
  16. Preach on, Brother Phillips! The Cards are so easy to dislike, and have been rubbing most of us here the wrong way for a couple of years by saying all the "classy" things then doing the complete opposite on the field of play. Melvin once offered Jorge De La Rosa to the Indians for Brandon Phillips, but they obviously didn't take the deal and we ended up with Tony Graffanino instead.
  17. "Man is inherently good, with one glaring exception - Gary Sheffield." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau
  18. TH's latest blog post indicates that Melvin and Edmonds have been in touch today due to interest from other teams. Sounds like it could be up to Edmonds at this point if Melvin is at the point of speaking with him. I don't think Melvin would bother if he wasn't hearing about something he liked. EDIT: I should clarify that Melvin has said he will only deal Edmonds if he agrees with the move out of respect.
  19. You'd expect to see a variety of Point beers over the Leine's seasonal in a bar in Milwaukee? Really? You DID happen to notice my screen name, right? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Admittedly, it's more of a hope than an expectation, but in a perfect world... I think most people have an expectation for energy drinks these days as well. I'll sometimes reset my biological clock to my early twenties by pounding a red bull at the onset of an evening of drinking so I'm not asleep by 11pm. But I probably only go out a handful of times a year. Now that my home bar is near completion and with a fridge full of Point, why bother to go out anymore?
  20. I would expect Guinness, hopefully on tap. And switch out the Leine's seasonals with a variety of Point's. They have several, and seem to have figured out a way to make a wheat beer without it tasting like I just regurgitated my Froot Loops (I'm looking at you, "Sunset Wheat").
  21. I wish they could put a team in NJ to put a dent in the market share enjoyed by the NY teams & Philly.
  22. Spoken like a true Braves fan. Fielder's HBP was obvious - except maybe to Cox. Fielder gets drilled then he has the gall to tell Macha "Hey, no hard feelings?" Either he's lying or he has no idea what his players are doing out there. Macha's response to Cox should have been, "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining."
  23. I think what you are referring to is: "How many outs, Corey?!"
  24. I think the thread title should be changed from Branyan attacked in hotel to Branyan attacked by hotel room.
  25. Hornswoggle kind of looks like some sort of a Casey McGehee and Corey Hart lovechild: http://thehappyyoungster.mlblogs.com/corey%20hart%20file%20photo.jpg http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.e1d/img/4.0/global/baseball/mlb/players/8359.jpg http://argent.me.uk/Hornswoggle.jpg
