  1. Exactly where are they supposed to work through them? The DL -- and then rehab. It wasn't a high pressure situation at all until he made it one. I was really referring to any MLB pitching situation as high-pressure, especially in a game where a lead needs to be protected. I think he needs to work in simulated situations and then in the minors on rehab. It was the perfect situation to put him in. A game where the Brewers had a 15 run deficit would probably be "perfect" -- I wouldn't trust Wise with a 15 run deficit at this point either though -- Furthermore, I don't know if it is wise to burn a roster spot for a guy you are waiting for a game with a big run differential, to let him "work through it" -- It screams DL to me. Had he or Braun fielded their postion properly it would have worked so it wasn't solely the pitching that caused the loss. I wouldn't expect that can't hit/pitch well because of some kind of injury would be effective defensively either in a lot of cases. I don't buy the over worked staff now either. For the record -- Over worked is something Ned used to describe his bullpen recently, -- I suspect some of those pitchers may have seen better days as far as 2007 is concerned.
  2. Same here. DirecTV is a slam dunk. Stop the agony and switch today, or as soon as your one year commitment ends. I did -- I switched from Dish to Direct and have never looked back
  3. I thought he went -- I didn't think it was that close.
  4. I guess the key was trying to sneak Wise out there to exorcise his demons, and then following him with Cordero for the third straight day. Yeah -- I was hoping Ned would just put Spurling in the 9th and just not use Wise and/or Cordero. Yost was relying on three pitchers to do the job effectively. Suppan, Villaneuva, and Wise. This is what I have issue with -- Villy (IMO) seems to have hit some sort of wall, and until he is able to get some rest, I don't think you can count on him, it is not as if he will be able to pitch through that wall, the same goes for Wise -- In the post-game, Ned mentioned Wise has had problems since collapsing Lopez's melon -- which is painfully obvious I think. I am not a psychiatrist -- but I don't think people can work through these sort of things, in a high-pressure MLB situation. As far as Suppan goes -- It sucks that he couldn't go 6 or 7 -- but it appeared to me, he asked for the hook and Ned obliged.
  5. Like I said, this isn't fantasy world, you can't just dream up injuries to put guys on the DL. Basically if a player is being treated for something they can go on the DL. If Wise isn't being treated for collapsing a batter's dome with his pitching, he probably should be -- I think any responsible therapist would prescribe time off as a potential cure.
  6. Nowhere in there does it say "right now." I thought that PF implied that by calling it a "train-wreck". I don't think many contenders would want Wise, Villy, etc. pitching for them tomorrow -- I think that was the point PF was trying to make, and it was a very valid one.
  7. I think consistent performance needs to be something that is measured.
  8. If I was Ned, I'd say screw this. Much of Milwaukee has handled winning baseball horribly. I think it is very fair to vent against Ned-bashing -- however, I would not say it is fair to say that Ned-bashers have any less knowledge of baseball than Ned-supporters. Generally speaking, "winning baseball" is a term that is applied to a span of multiple seasons, not April 2007.
  9. I cannot even fathom that anyone would blame tonight's game on Yost. Yost put Wise in the game, who has struggled mightily. How much of what happened today can be attributed to rotten luck? Oh -- I don't know -- Cordero walks Rollins on 4 pitches out of the zone, Parra walks a pitcher which gets Howard up to bat the next inning -- Braun should have made that play at third. On the flip side of the coin -- I thought a lot of the Brewers hits early in the game should have been caught by the Phillies OFers. -- I thought those were lucky in favor of the Brewers.
  10. I don't have a problem with putting in Wise when we are up by 5 runs. The results obviously stink but I don't think it was a terrible idea. If it had been say a 3 run game I'd have a real problem with it. I would agree if it was Matt's first appearance since the beaning, however this was the third -- and there is something obviously very wrong with Matt, and I wouldn't trust him in a game where we had a 20 run deficit. Ned mentioned the beaning in the post-game. This is not a mechanics problem, and I don't think this is something that Matt can fix by pitching "through it" on a MLB mound -- I really think Wise needs to be shut down and rehabbed for a couple of weeks, rather than let his confidence get further damaged. I really wished that they would have DLed Wise and kept Elmer for 2 more weeks.
  11. Huh? Seems like a cheap way to write off a legitimate statement. Whether it's Carlos Lee, Brady Clark, Jeremy Burnitz, or whoever, Milwaukee fans as a whole feel that they have some sort of misguided duty to boo former players. Especially in the case of Brady Clark, it makes absolutely no sense; he did nothing but play hard here. Agree 100%. No one cares what Wes Helms thinks -- but I am sure that it helps him get his mojo up when he is up to bat with ducks on the pond in extra innings. Again, why do we want to diminish our HF advantage, by stirring the Wes Helms pot?
  12. What disguise? Exactly. This very transparently helps the Brewers. I hate injuries to any star player -- because at the end of the day as a fan, I'd rather watch a guy like Soriano for 9 innings than Matt Murton. I think if there is in anything in disguise, it may push the Cubs into paying a little more for an August deal (Dunn, Jr.)
  13. Sometimes people would have their inbox turned off -- perhaps unintentionally -- so sometimes it may be necessary to leave a post. Of course this may not be an issue with the Yuku
  14. Kerry Wood coming in the 8th
  15. I think with Wise/Villy looking worse than Dessens/Spurling -- putting CV or Wise on the DL makes more sense to me
  16. So two professional baseball guys had a disagreement? Let's not understate this. Yost got into a yelling match where people needed to be restrained.
  17. You know why the Cubs got better? Don't forget Soriano showed up finally, which IMO was the biggest reason the Cubs turned it around
  18. Someone is really going to have to explain how in the world Ned Yost compares to Mike Holmgren. World Series Titles Holmgren - 0 Yost - 0 MLB winning seasons Holmgren -0 Yost-0 Yost drafted by New York Mets, Holmgren drafted by NY Jets Neither were Intentionally Walked as major league professionals. That's all I got
  19. I miss seeing players' fire. Jeff Cirillo had a way of every once and a while getting fired up at a bad call or something Yeah -- I understand you are saying -- I would love to see an Ump get blown up, or some dude on another team, but I am very dubious that a "spark" ignited by 2 veteran players going after a manager who was busting the balls of a player that has yet to see a full-season will be a positive thing.
  20. Let's see you yell yourself out of this one Nedgar.
  21. I do as well -- I give it 2 thumbs up.
  22. While I am able to move around in the forums ok -- I get 502 errors for brewersfan.net -- or things like errors to BSCR's article -- this may be something you guys are aware of, but in the offchance you aren't
  23. I am a huge fan of early blues/R&B/soul, and listen to it non-stop. Stax was distributed by Atlantic, but when Atlantic merged with WB, Stax got dropped. I don't care for much that Atlantic after that point. While Motown had some great albums/artists, I much prefer the early Stax recordings. While a slightly different genre, my preference has been and will always be Chess recordings. There are a lot of Chess record compilations out there, and should be included in any collection that contains English rock bands from the late 60s (Stones, LZ, Tull, etc.). A lot of similar artists can be found on Sun record compilations as well, and while overshadowed by Elvis/Cash/JL Lewis, Sun Records was the genesis for the Memphis R&B sensation.
  24. Double posts are really starting to piss me off!! (just kidding Casey)
  25. limiting his (Yo's) innings is not an option anymore. Anyone who thinks otherwise is going to be in for a big surprise. Not a lot of what is going to happen in August/September can be predicted by BFnet, but if there is one thing that we can be assured of, is that Yo and Parra will have a limitation on their innings -- you can bank on that.
