  1. Lopez is already past arbitration. We don't have to offer him arby to get compensation for him. False. Why in the world wouldn't they? He is not very good at baseball, and we presumably have a healthy Weeks coming back. He's probably going to get a bump -- I'd wouldn't want him back at all.
  2. I sure hope there is another deal coming, Lopez is underwhelming and throwing away prospects for a minor upgrade doesn't do it for me. Agreed. Agreed. AND we get a first rounder next June? Sign me up. I don't know why we would offer Lopez Arby's.
  3. In a short series, it might matter less, but I think it's unquestionable that the HFA matters. I agree -- A HFA may be overridden by a dominant pitcher -- but I think there is no question a HFA exists -- It probably is overstated though. To me, the argument begins and ends with, the idea of how awesome and electric winning a Game 7 in Milwaukee would be.
  4. In essence you are comparing Macha to Dusty Baker. That frightens me. Make him stop. Dusty > Macha > Yost. I almost feel like Macha needs to be taken to The Hague and shamed for all the world to see. This kind of terrible decision-making must be brought to light. It's almost like you are calling for some super-bloggers to emerge from a phone-booth (or their mother's basement).... I'm not a big lineup guy, but manipulating your lineup so Jason Kendall gets more ABs, reminds me of dads that coach little league, leading their sucky kid off at SS.
  5. I have a soft spot for babies and young kids. Ironically babies have soft-spots on their heads, you should never drop babies on their heads. Youth football is pretty hard to watch without smiling. (9 year old and younger).
  6. How does freezing the ball make it go further? Makes it harder? Right -- the ball absorbs less energy and more energy is transferred to motion.
  7. The original post was inaccurate and misrepresented a lot of the arguments/discussion regarding trading Prince.
  8. That is FREAKING AWESOME. I know. Glad to be of assistance.
  9. The main point of this post is to explain to fans who are confused by Fielder two year deal that he signed. I think people here are very clear on Prince's contract. Fans who thought that we only have Fielder under control through next season, were obviously more willing to trade him sooner rather than later I think the variables that are of more concern is what we have in AAA, and what is being offered, and where the Brewers are in the standings. Also wanted to point point out how having a good half season and winning a HR Derby makes Brewer fans switch from wanting to trade Prince Fielder immediately to wanting to sign him long term. Again I think this is false -- I know my opinion on trading Prince hasn't changed at all, only what I expect to get in return -- Prince's stock has risen for sure. I think the more Prince's stock rises, the more inevitable a trade is. Just giving some credit to Melvin for not operating under the same "what-have-you-done-for-me-lately" attitude most fans have when wanting to make trades. Melvin has shopped Prince -- we just were not offered a good enough return. Trading Prince is a reality DM has to deal with. He just has more leverage now.
  10. This is the quote we all heard from the majority of Milwaukee Brewers fans all last offseason. False. The majority of the people here even entertaining trading Prince, would do so after the 2010 season. The man had a slight softmore slump and everybody seemed to jump off his bandwagon. It's "sophomore", and again most people here recognized his value to the team. Now the man who fans called out for being fat Prince is fat -- by any sort of health standard. It's a legitimate concern. and not being able to play defense Prince is not a good defender -- he has certainly made strides, but he deserved the criticism he got for his performance. Also, I'd just to clarify a point that many fans seem to be confused about. Most people here are aware of that -- Trading Prince in 2011 makes little sense, trading him with 1+ years of control would reap more harvest. The point you seem confused about, is that people here when talking about trading Prince, are not doing so, because they think Prince sucks, rather that he can be cheaply replaced and help fill some pitching holes we may have in the future.
  11. DJ Surhoff At least you didn't play any Jethro Tull. Your mother dropped you on your head -- repeatedly -- I find your life story inspirational.
  12. I think Ned would be pretty dumb to take the job. Bingo.
  13. Kermit is a dipwad. He clearly has a shirt -- and he prefers to run around naked all the time, so the need for a second shirt seems ludicrous. Gorf was a fun arcade game.
  14. That make no sense. it should be Timrek the Gorf. I would have left after Fire on High though, your music is weird, it's like Devo without the flowerpot hats.
  15. Sure. It's bad baserunning, but it's not illegal. Guys go backwards to avoid tags all the time. Al is correct. As long as he doesn't touch the runner or get passed up.
  16. Ned Yost would be perfect for this team.
  17. Just Branyan. Why would you want to watch anyone else launch bombs?
  18. Counsell ($1MM) will be gone We keep saying this every year.
  19. Let's just agree that if anyone tries to sell these around Miller Park, there'd be enough people with the good sense to throw them in the river. Ehhh... I'd hope so, I am guessing probably not though. The Cubs and their fans suck.
  20. No, "subordination" is what Doug Melvin was attempting to do with his comments Kudos to Casey for catching this. Now DM needs to realize that in importance, he is on the wrong end of the > than Braun
  21. His comments were hilarious, Braun's comments are just boring and Captiain Obvious-ish. Still think they should make Braun a player-coach (or perhaps a deputy manager!) While DM's comments may have generated some chuckles with his staff -- I am almost certain they will do nothing but fan the fire with Braun, and probably most of the Brewers. My guess, is that right or wrong -- Braun feels like his career ~.950 OPS and the awards he has won, is probably a large reason DM is still employed by the Brewers. I do think this could get ugly like it did with the Packers -- but I think unlike Favre, at this point in his career, Braun is going to carry a LOT more weight in the clubhouse. Calling Braun a "deputy" in the press, is a pretty childish and inflamatory thing to do. I suspect this upcoming series will be huge -- if we go 2-1, 3-0 over the Cards, this will probably be forgotten -- if we get swept, and are 4 GB after the series, the Yost could hit the fan.
  22. I'm puzzled why DM feels the need to go public here. What was he trying to accomplish? Ryan Braun > Doug Melvin. Drop the hammer Mark.
  23. Do you have any with Ned Yost on the cover?
  24. They know there is no way we're making the playoffs with extended periods of time with Burns and McClung in the rotation. But why rip on guys like Burns? -- Burns is what he is, a short-term stop-gap. Parra got sent down, Bush is on the DL, and I would hope Braun had the common sense to realize that DM isn't planning on hooking his wagon to the Burns horse. Burns is a guy you give the ball to, hope for the best, and know in the back of your mind, that he is going to get sent down to AAA again at some point. I guess I think/hope Braun is calling out DM -- which I am ok with, rather than calling out his teammates.
