  1. I was looking at Cirillo's pitching line and saw that he struck somebody out. Who was it, and what little league team does he play for? Honestly, Cirillo is no pitcher, but he could at least hit 83 mph, which, unbelievably, is faster than the guy in our pen with the best ERA, Brian Shouse, can throw. Not that 'Rillo has anything on S'house on the mound... On that subject however, I wouldn't mind seeing Gross (or Hardy?) on the mound for an inning in a blowout, but only if our BP is completely gassed. To the subject of tonight's game, I feel like I'm an idiot for being excited and optimistic, because so many times this year a solid game is followed by a complete disaster and / or heartbreaker. But here I am, 4 hours 'til first pitch, waiting for the announcement of the starting lineups. I don't even wanna think of the resurgance of Jenkins, Hall, and Weeks, to accompany Braun and Fielder, as it just gets me way to excited, and will inevitably lead to disappointment. *sigh*
  2. Go Badgers! H4P, I think Jim Powell would like you very much.
  3. Alright, time for another heartbreaking Sunday to follow an exciting Saturday... I actually feel okay with Cappy out there, and I feel like Harang won't be as tough this time. Win the series!
  4. He's just a ton better at leadoff. He's in a spot where he knows he's gotta pick his pitches better, and pretty much just find a way to get on base. He showed that he can do that this series...He was very patient. In the 8 hole he just looked to be frustrated by the lack of pitches he got to hit, and started lunging at bad pitches. If you want a guy to change his approach, force his hand by moving him up or down in the lineup. I'm still high on Weeks. There's no doubting he's incredible talented with unbelievable potential. Let's not forget that he's only approaching his 25th birthday.
  5. Just got mine in the mail yesterday. This'll be my 7th straight year going to every Badger game (*knock on wood...*) Just 22 days left!
  6. The "Textbook Bullpen Management" thread seemed pretty legit to me...Do we really have to lump all comments about the bullpen into one thread? Is that just how the mods prefer to run the Fan Forum?

  8. Whoaaaaaa Brewdersd jenkins hart fielder. hot here
  9. did anyone cry??? haha Not me, but when I finished I felt like my childhood had just ended http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/wink.gif
  10. Yep, he was out. Nothing Denkinger-esque, but it was a good quarter step...
  11. Argh. Stupid 1B ump. Theriot was out...and now it's 2-0 Edit: Make that 3-0. Theriot scores on the HBP, he shouldn't have even been on base in the first place.
  12. He's been a godsend at times, no doubt, like that DP he induced on Tuesday after Wiser had left him a big mess, or that 3 inning stint vs. the Twins in June. Anyway, he isn't spectacular, and can definitely be had, as can anyone with an 81 mph fastball, but I'd still like to join in and say well done, sir.
  13. "like a certain hall of famer we all know and love. " Who exactly are you referring to?
  14. i dont know what people expected when we signed him. I personally saw the pickup as a "statement," so to speak, that we weren't messin' around anymore. I don't think DM actually thought that Soup would pitch every game like the '06 NLCS, but I remember picking him up did generate quite a bit of buzz, even in the heart of the offseason. Ticket sales are up, so was / is national media attention. It's certainly not all because of Soup, but I do see a correlation between signing the big name free agents and creating a buzz in and around you market. As for my list: Surpising: Braun-Be honest. Who thought he'd be over .500 against lefties in over 60 ABs? Villanueva-Underrated, even at this point. Where would we be without his nearly flawless inning-eating? Shoo-in for top 3-4 Brewers MVP at this point, IMO. Turnbow-I didn't think he could recover after last year's second-half debacle. I am glad he has not only recovered, but has turned in to a reliable set-up man. Miller-Not playing everyday seems to suit him well. I thought he'd be more of the .220 3 HR backup catcher type with Estrada coming in. Disappointing-Weeks-It seems the whole wrist thing has changed the approach his approach at the plate, causing him to look pretty uncomfortable. Being sent down to AAA might help. Hall-Numbers are down, obviously, but I will give him credit for stepping up at key points this year, namely with the homer off Zumaya in Detroit after the no-hitter, and tonight with the game-tying double. Capuano-Seeing his nibble-approach when the team gives him a lead has been really frustrating, but his last few starts seem to have shown that he can still be razor sharp.
  15. Way, way too many stranded runners tonight True, but I would feel about 10,000 times worse about that if our opponents, the best team in the NL, hadn't done the exact same thing, and lost.
  16. If the ump calls him out, he's gone. Whether he should've called him out is beside the point. It happened, and you can't fault the defense for going back to the dugout.
  17. Scattered showers per weather.com. Shouldn't be too bad...Go Crew!
  18. So your position is that they are not trying when they play on the road? Not necessarily. I don't know what it is, but something is wrong when you go 5-12 vs. sub-.500 teams on the road since June 21, while going 11-5 at home against similar opponents during the same stretch.
  19. That might work in Little League, I guess. It seems like everyone wants to reference "Little League" lately in comparison to our Brewers: -"Yost put out a Little League lineup." -"That double steal might work in Little League." -"These players aren't in Little League, and are therefore self-motivating." Of course I paraphrase, but that last point really bugs me. Let's not forget that certain things remain essential to all levels of baseball (or sport, for that matter), regardless of age: confidence, discipline, focus, etc. If any of such traits are lacking, players often need to be motivated to get them back. Who better to do so but the skip himself? On this team in particular, I don't see any one player as a veteran leader in the clubhouse. Jenkins just doesn't have that air about him, Prince is a lightning rod, but young. Counsell, Mench, Shouse? Gimme a break... I'm tired of watching half-hearted at-bats and lackluster play anywhere away from Miller Park. I really feel like somebody needs to rip this young, impressionable, team a new one. Unfortunately I don't really see our ho-hum manager doing so.
  20. Do I think Yost tore into the guys today? Hopefully. This is more important that some might think. Yost doesn't seem like a yeller, so when he does it, you listen.

  22. I think we'll hit Reyes pretty well, but I can't help feeling we're going to lose the game. If we do, it will be the worst day of my life.
  23. Dear KoKo, stop pitching like a total loser. Dear Offense, the game isn't over if you have a big lead before all the fans have even made it to the ballpark. Dear Yost, keep CoCo in, but warm somebody up behind him at the start of the inning. Sincerely, Extremely disgruntled Brewers fan.
  24. What do you find interesting about that?? I thought I was pretty clear. It's interesting because Milwaukee fans are in large part so highly critical of him, and the rest of the league, if they care, is the opposite. It usually goes the other way around (though not necessarily in the case of coaches / managers), namely that home fans are the ones wearing the rose-colored glasses. Also, FTJ's point was a resonable one. Yost has managed one team to a non-losing season. That's hardly encouraging when we're in the midst of a pennant race.
