  1. How can you be disappointed in a player you cut on in every single post you make? I think the only way Sheets is a disappointment to you is if he stays healthy all year and pitches well. He wont disapoint me, but most of the Brewer Nation will be unless he puts it back together. If he stayed healthy and earned his money I would be happy. Ender when Sheets starts pulling his weight r and stops robbing the Brewers of moey I will be grateful. Tidbit for you Ender,Ron Shandler in his baseball forecaster has labeled Sheets injury prone in his book this year.
  2. #1 will Ben Sheets, he will once again get injured and loose a bunch of starts that this team could use from an ace type pitcher. #2 Bill Hall he had his great year and his big swing has too many holes in it to bounce back. Braun had an incredible season last year and mostly likely will go down some, and Hardy had a first half power spike that is the only thing that changed in his game. There drop offs will not be as dramatic as some are projecting.
  3. Prince is his own man and he has already shown that with dealing with his dad. When ever this comes up I just think Prince would rather not deal with all the issues that come with playing with the BoSox or Yanks. Brewers are starting to show that they will spend money so I dont know that Prince will not get paid close to what he has coming to him. We can hope that baseball figures it out and puts a salary cap into place in the next couple of years, so that things start to equal out. Gwynn Jr could maybe get a long term contract as a minor league coach, not as a major league coach. Weeks is another story depending how much more he grows.
  4. That is income that helps the Brewers can use to help the team keep some of the home grown talent in town. Love to see the sellouts no matter who is in the seats since the Brewers need to keep making money so we dont get rid of every player they grow.
  5. Well our ace has pitched 156, 106, and 141 innings the last 3 years so we really have to find some guys to eat up innings right now out ace is not doing it.
  6. Why are so many people thinking that Vargas or any of the pitchers have to be move now?? I would say they all go to camp and Doug moves one during camp when a team looses pitching to injury or figures out what they had on the roster will not cut it. These gusy will have more value then than they have right now.
  7. Dillion is a looks to be a guy that could hit well in a backup role and can play many spots. For this reason he would be a cheaper version of Rillo for the team. Rivera would be a solid backup catcher he is a decent defensive catcher with some pop in his bat. Rottino gets love because he is a local and for some reason people feel he can be a use full player on the bench. Few times I have seen him, he has only shown a frying pan for a glove so I dont get that he can play many spots.
  8. No one stated it but a lot of people are posting like his stats will take a big hit. I was not callling out any poster.
  9. His MLE's strongly suggest that the BB/K numbers will improve and mostly offset the BABIP dip. Shandler still has himd own for .302 AVG and .947 OPS. His skills fully supported a .300 AVG in the 2nd half last year. People keep posting how Braun is going to have a drop off at the plate. Pretty hard to argue that but to think he is going to hit like 280 with 20-25 HRs is not going to happen unless he gets hurt. All you have to think about is how hard he hit every ball last year. His singles and outs were solid smashes of the bat. Braun can hit and he will improve in a lot of his areas yet because he is so young. As Shandler says once you gain a skill you still have it so him hitting .300 and 40 HRs is going to be there for a long time.
  10. Bingo. Braun might not be a good left fielder either (although I think he has the speed and arm strength to be at least average), but playing a poor left field is much less consequential than a poor third base. If we can upgrade the infield defense with a respectable third baseman (I'm not necessarily sold that Blalock is that guy, though -- those road numbers do scare me), then I think you take your chances on Braun in LF. Even if he is poor out there, it'll hurt less than the hack-fest that was his 2007 at 3B. Hey if Braun would suck in LF we would have the same thing as Carlos Lee being out there and he got bashed here for his lack of defense.
  11. Blalock would be a nice addition at 3B. Not sure what Brewers would give up for him. If the Rangers really do have interest in Gwynn I would make sure he is in the deal so that you can get something of value for him before it is too late.
  12. Agree with that and he would ruin the good career of Bedard by running up his innings. I wanted the Brewers to look at Dusty" The Pick" Baker as a manager but he really is hell on pitchers.
  13. Thanks RLuz on the stats. I know the stats dont show it but I think he can become an average 3B. JB 12 Hardy as always been considered a solid def SS. He gets very little attention since he only makes the routine plays and not highlight plays. He is the anti- Bill Hall does all the little things but doesn't make the huge hit or play to get on Baseball tonight.
  14. Dont see Matsui coming here and he would be a short term guy. Team has younger options to put in the OF that can be here for a longer time. I would pass on him as the cost in trade would not be that cheap. Giants are talking Lincecum that would mean around the talent of Yo.
  15. Who is going to be the SS if you dont think Hardy is going to be moved?? Hardy is a above average SS. Braun gets to balls dont know how that can be said. He has some range and has shown he can come up with a lot of balls. RLuz do have some info on that??
  16. Ouch, this really hurts to read. This should not hurt to read. Brewers tried to make a run at the playoffs. Teams have to give up prospects to get something in return. Brewer culture has been so far away from this that I feel people have over reacted. Even if one of these guys turns into a CY Young winner team needed to do something.
  17. A lot of the other guys in CF play a much better defense. Hall gave up a lot hits and runs last year by his play in the field to negate his stats. He is an average CF when you put the full game into it.
  18. I wrote down the calculations but did not put years down so thanks for the fix. I agree with James stats that is what I see from Hall, and to me those are every day major league stats nothing to get crazy for. I have heard that Hall is an all star for the last two years and I dont see anything but a major league player. He has a great season two years ago and I dont see him coming close to that again.
  19. I read an article from Heater magazine in 07 that showed he had the most Homeruns that barely made it over the fence. It showed stats on barely made it, surel made it, and well gone homeruns. Halls %s were heavy on the barely, he did make up for this with his doubles last year. For that reason I dont see him getting back to the 30 HR mark that some people think he will reach most years. His batting eye reverted back to were it was previously. He was at 31% last year after a 38% in 07 and 60% in 06, and 45% in 05. Hall is a bit of a free swinger and the last two years he has shown that. He is suppose to peak in the next coming years but his stats are showing that he is heading the other way right now. There will be blame in him moving to CF and for his injury but those dont explain how he has come back to being a free swinger like he was at the minors.
  20. I'm not a Bill Hall fan but I would not make this trade I think they could get a little more value for Hall. The bounce back everyone is looking for in Hall is going to be another let done in my book. We have seen the best of Bill Hall and I think last year will be what we get from here on out. He might have an occasional spike in stats but he is not the hitter than some think he is.
  21. Hall needs to stay in CF so that we can see if he improves from last year. Hart is a slight upgrade over Hall maybe but with Braun in LF we would have another guy trying to learn a spot. This does not take into consideration that Hall is at best an average 3B with the D and he would be below average with the bat unless he proves that two years ago was not a fluke. No one would should be suprised that Braun would move to the OF for the team. He is a kid that has stated he just loves playing baseball and wants to bring Milwaukee a winner. From what I have scene and read of him he is not prima dona.
  22. No way do the Brewers give away the shortstop of this team for Rocco. This would produce holes at two spots for this team. Bill Hall is a couple steps down with the glove at SS and he was below Hardy with the stick last year, Brewers would only weaken the team with this move.
  23. I think this sums up what the Rangers are doing. They need to get Salty at bats so why no throw him at 1B since they have no one.
  24. I get this from posters on this site. People have posted things referring to this, and have been followed up with other posters also laying similar claims to this. Last year people posted in the Jenkins/Lee threads that Jenks would get hot in the second half like he normally does. It did happen but not until he had been benched and the season was over in October. On the homegrown issue look at the trade forum. There are some very out of this world trade offers that are posted when it comes to the Brewer farm system. Folks are posting that Gwynn and other prospects will bring back top talent. Examples I'd give up Zack Jack and Escobar for Dye right now, no doubt. Wondering if a Deal of Mench, Jackson and Sarfate would be enough For Nathan and A+/AA prospect Bedard bullpen arm Baltimore Gets: Carlos V. Inman A. Escobar Looking and posting trade rumors are fun. But to think that Zack Jack and Gwynn Jr have all kinds of value is scary they are fringe minor leaguer. Oh the crazy guy that I am I posted 2 months prior that Inman was going to be the guy traded to get someone around the trade deadline. I was laughed up but it certainl did happen. I was wrong wiht Corey Hart because he has way outplayed what I ever thought he would. I know I bet with some guy that I would give him props on him hitting 770 OPS or something like that. Even if he would not he has won me over as fan. You guys are right that Jenks is hitting but I'm wondering when he is going to get white hot like he does every year.
  25. Take out the games from Aug 12 -15 when he had for of these homeruns and his stats fall. I'm not calling him out I'm wondering if he is going to carry this teams for a week or two like he has done in the past. We have not seen this yet and seeing if anyone sees him doing this. Right now this team could really use the white hot Jenkins we have had in the past to make a push for a playoff spot and it has yet to happen. I checked the last ten days when Jenkins hit one of his dingers in a win which team won by 5 runs. His two homer game was about the only offense in a 6-4 loss. His other bombs came in some blow outs. When his he going to be the man getting some big hits that win this team some games down the stretch. There are better players this year but batting in the 5/6 spot means that you have to protect those guys on a regular basis. It is looking like Braun is seeing tougher pitches so Jenks and Hall need to be productive for this team to win.
