  1. It has been posted on here the last two years that Geoff Jenkins is a second half/pennant run producer, so far he has not gotten on one of his tears that was thought to be his birth right. This should happen a little easier this year with him only having to face right handed pitching and not the lefties that baffle him. Yet a team in playoff mode is still waiting for him. There could be some very good reasons. 1. He has not gotten that streak yet. Problem here is there are 6 weeks left and time is running out. 2. Pennant pressure is getting to him and he will not get his streak in. Years past Brewers were not in the chase and no pressure to produce. 3.Jenkins has been a bit over rated on this site and not the player that some think he is or was. 4. Age has caught up to Jenkins and we should temper or expectations. I'm not sure what it is but if anyone else can come up with some answers I would love to hear them. Dont care if they are thinking Jenkins will turn it around and get hot or if you think he never will this year. (added tag --1992)
  2. I would not think you would. Hall was being compared to Jeter all last year and talked about how much better he was. Now maybe poeple should think before they post to compare some to another player is also taking a look at their past, unless it is a certain time period. Not everyone was saying that Hall was having a better year than Jeter they were rambling on how he was going to be better than Jeter. Michael Young not included with Reyes or Jeter why is that because he doesn't play in the media capital of the world??
  3. Homer there where people beating those drums last year of Hall being an All Star. Why would I be anti Hall after 35 HRs becaue it was a fluke and something that he will not match again. Lot of fans are in believe that Hall is power threat on this team and it is to bad that bubble is going to burst. 20HRs in this day and age is very average, now back in the 80s this would have been considered a power source.
  4. Vargas would get mauled in Texas as it is a top hitters park. I love what he has done this year but I dont think he could get away with it in the AL. Much better lineups and they will rake on him all day. This is not enougth value to go get a young catcher of Lairds talent.
  5. It is not a generalization that posters mentioned Hall as an constant all star last year. Many people compared him to Jeter, Young, and other top SS's all last year. Stats came out how he was better at this and that and the Brewers would be foolish to moves such a great player off shortstop with his great bat.I dont recall which posters claimed Hall was an all star but there were more pro Hall all star fans than anti Hall fans. Part of the issue with Bill Hall is he gets a lot of attention for his homeruns, now that he has hit homeruns it will be posted that he is out of a slump. Those are his only two hits last two nights, how about Hall getting a couple of 2 hits games before we think he has turned it around a little. I'm one of Grosses biggest supporters, I know that the best he will be is a solid OFer. Nothing fancy just getting the job done.
  6. Not much. If he is a better man than previuosly he would revert back to his old self.
  7. If people realized that last year was his career year and that he is not the pernianal all start that posters claimed last year. He is an above avergage player that is struggling this year. If he was the player that some thought he was Brewers would have had a stick to bat that could produce in the middle third. IMO he should end up batting in the 6 spot for most of his career and play an average CFer.
  8. Gross is a solid ball player and will take over for Jenks next year. IMO with solid playing time Gross will be more productive than the streaky Jenks. Not a lot of posters here know about Gross till he got to the Brewers so they dont think he is better than the homegrown boys. Gross has got some very good skills and show them in the future.
  9. Braun is just learning how to play 3B. He has been a SS all his live and now is trying to convert over. You can see that he has huge potential on defense by the great plays he makes. He just needs to make the every day plays every day. He needs some time to get out some of his old SS habits and get in some solid 3B skills.
  10. Prince went after an umpire those guys are really off limits. He was really in his face and came close to contact several times with him. I dont understand how Bill Hall could not be a leader and jump in and try to come him down. It took Yost a while to lumber out of the dugout and only the hustle and mucsle of Ed Sedar kept him back. I think it will be 3 games no matter what, Lee didn't land a punch or he might have gotten more. I'm ok with Prince showing is emotions, this teams needs to show they are hungry once a while. They seem to be a bunch of robots until they come from behind and win a game. Other night I thought Braun should have rolleed the cather at the play at the plate but he help up. First thought was would Prince added another catcher to his resume.
  11. I was reading some rumors on the net and it stated that Kenny Williams was really hard after Kahil Greene for a SS at the trade deadline. Williams is hoping to get something done this off-season so that would leave a hole at SS for the Padres. My thinking is that Hall would have value as SS for the Padres. They do have some good young pitching prospects that we could go after or some young OFers. They loose Cameron this year so his spot needs to filled by them also. Any thoughts on this or another team that might use Hall as a infielder? Vern = http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/devil.gif
  12. I can come up with two better options that we can have in the OF off the top of my head. #1 would be Raul Ibanez of the Mariners. Brewers would have to go out and trade for him, but he would be well worth it for the year if this team wants to contend. Guy gets very little love but is a upgrade over what we have in LF right now. #2 Sign Mike Cameron he could play LF and play some CF when Hall needs a rest. He would be a better option even in center but I only see him a one or two year option and then you have to move Hall back.
  13. I guess you also think Robert Blake and OJ Simpson are both innocent as well? I agree with you that not all the blame goes on mcmahon on this, but when so many of his former employees are dying before the age of 50, and almost all for the same reasons, it's kind of obvious who is to blame. OJ should have never had to put on those gloves it turned the case around. Who ever thought that was bright idea should be sent to prison. Dried gloves over latex gloves = no fit. Demolition was just a knock of Road Warriors. Look at most of these guys dieing most of them are from the time when WCW and WWE went toe to toe and trying to be the biggest dog on the block. I'm sure both these groups asked their men to do things to get ratings up without considering anything down the road.
  14. Linebrink has been what the doctor order I just wish he was being used in the 8th and T-Bow in the 7th.
  15. I interviewed Molly two weeks before he left for Toronto as he stopped in at UWSP to speech about his time dealing with drugs. He was a great guy the whole time, but my personal feeling was that he was going to be leaving the team the way he was talking to the group of reporters. What was amazing is that he stayed for over and hour to sign autographs for nothing to people that listened to him. They had to drag him out of there to catch his flight. When I think of Molitor it is how he was a class act that day and all his baseball stuff comes secong to me.
  16. Sheets is a bigger loss. Very few teams can loose their top pitcher and not feel the effect. This would be like the Cubs losing Z. Soriano loss is replaced because the have options in the OF to replace him.
  17. Byrnes signed with the D-Backs so the original plans are shot on this thread. When I look at his 25 man roster again I see a lot of guys with speed that are suspect hitters, not something I would want to see.
  18. 1. Great idea. Time to move on with a bright future in our OF. He is at best a platoon player and showing his age more and more. 2. Need to try and bring Coco back. Yes he has had a rough going lately but he is still a top 5 closer in the game. 3. No way he has yet to earn any kind of an extension unless you are looking to waste money on the DL. Teams needst to get a fulltime LFer for the next year. Cappy/Bush/ Vargas should be used as trade bait to get them this player. Bill Hall is not going to be moved into the infield by the Brewers if he is traded he could for the new team. Weeks is the future unless the Brewes decide to move him for help somewhere else on the team. Hopefully Miller is back to be the #2 cathcer. Rottino can go play for some other farm system so they waste their time with him playing on their big league club.
  19. Hitters to just rake the ball from the start of the game so there is a lot fo runs for the pitchers to play with. Pitchers are usually not the reason for success at Coors. More runs we score the more less we have to tax a bullpen that will be thinned out for the next series also.
  20. Smoking Pigskin Suzy Kolber needs a kiss!
  21. Looks to me like this just seals that this team is very tight and is concerned about each other. This could be a spark that puts this team back on the winning way.
  22. Suppan was a good addition for this team. No one knew if the young guys could handle playing in big leagues this year. He allowed them not to rush the young arms up to the majors and overwork their arms this year, and also give them a quality arm for a contending team. Lot of people should be asking themselves this question when it comes to Suppan. Would I rather have had Yo or Carlos V as a 5th starter for the begining of the season and have their young arm taxed by a huge jump in innnings or have Suppan to take that load. The rebuttle that might cost us signing some players down the road is a reach. Most of the young players are going to be able to be kept during Suppans contract. Sheets is coming due but with inability to stay on the field for a length of time he would be a higher risk than Suppan.
  23. I believe that Nick Levya was at one time a manager so there is some experience on the staff. I don't think he will get canned unless they start out slow next year. Kremblas would be the first guy I think to get the job. I think Yount is a darkhorse to get it. Cooper I think wants to stay in Houston becaue he knows Garner is maybe gone soon and he can step in and still be at home.
  24. All three of those guys had a long road to go before they would have helped the Brewers. The rotation has a lot of guys already on the major league club that can be starters and also fill in for bullpen help. I had no faith in Thatcher coming up and filling a spot in the pen unless it was Sept. This is called playoff baseball and you have to give a little of the future to improve the team. Linebrink has always done a solid job in the setup job, a couple of bad outings will always skew his stats because of the lack of innings pitched.
  25. Without knowing the team's overall plans for Parra, though, it's hard to say whether or not last night was a "waste" of Parra's remaining innings. How can you say that this was a waste of Parra's innings? He kept the Brewers in the game and proved himself against one of the top national league offenses. It surely proved to me that he needs to be kept on the roster and the Brewers need to make a move to keep him up. If he keeps this stuff up you have him and Yo going into the starting rotation and allows you to move a Cappy or Bush for a LFer.
