  1. I would think that a Capellan, jackson, Gwynn Jr. would be a good trade. I love that trade. Only people that would not like this trade is the Nationals. We are not giving up anything and getting a solid closer.
  2. You overestimate Bowden. He knows that Cordero could save 40 games a year on a good team and that number might be a bit low. Closers blow up left and right, and a team in the hunt needing a closer will pay the price. Look what he paid last year to get Coco Cordero, and we had to move C. Lee. Coco had good stats but good ole Buck didn't give him a second chance after a rough start.
  3. wonder if the Nationals would go for a "Sexson" type deal and take quantity over quality for Cordero. Clearly, the Nationals are in the same situation as the Brewers were a few years ago that they need a bunch of people that don't cost much. I might venture a guess that a deal of Gwynn, Capellan, Jackson, Gross, and a Manny Parra type would be more than enough to get Cordero. This deal would destroy the Brewers depth, but if they want to do that kind of deal it could be done without getting rid of any of our significant contributers. Bowden will not get fleeced with this kind of trade. He will want quality player(s) for Cordero. Cordero is a young player that has talent and is controlled for a little while by the team. Sexson was going to be a free agent so the Brewers made a trade to fill some holes and get a few prospects. None the guys mentioned is even a top end prospect anymore. Parra has a bum arm, Capellan has yet to prove him self at the big league level, Zach Jack has struggled since his one year, and both Ofer are 4 OFers at best.
  4. Sheets and Hardy have silenced some the doubters for at least another day. Hardy showed today why management wanted him at SS.
  5. Sheets has nothing to prove by pitching the ninth. Game is a blow out let some other pitcher finish this game up.
  6. Easy Team Canada. Only one game, but the way he looks right now he should be up there with good health.
  7. Hall takes the ball out of here. Great job hitting by the team today. Sheets should be pulled sometime soon. No reason to burn him up in today's game. We have arms in the pen to ge the game home. Sheeter keeps this up all year look out NL Central the Crew will be hanging around first for a long time.
  8. Given an early lead and Sheets gives it up the next time on the mound. Early runs of Sheets that needs to change.
  9. The problem the Brewers created by moving Hall is that they now have a hole at 3B. If Hall stayed at 3B or split time at center for a year, Braun's bat wouldn't be an issue right now since Braun vs Gross/Graffy platoon isn't the same as Braun vs Graffy/Counsell platoon. This meant a full year to see where Braun can play. How does this help at all? Hall would be moving around and not in one spot, something Hall wanted. I agree that Gross/Graffy platoon would be better. I have no issue if Braun ends up in the OF, I believe he has a plus bat what ever the spot is. Brewers can use a plus bat no matter what spot they fit in.
  10. Walker might hit a little better than Counsel, but he is not going to help this team besides a pinch hitter. I should have put in that defense was part of the deal. All around I give it to Counsel his hitting is better than Walker's D. Walker's OPS is decreasing while Counsel's is sky rocketing upward.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  11. Walker is so over rated and used up at this point I would pass on him. He has no range what so ever and has frying pans for hands. He might be able to hide out at 1B a few games to back up Prince. He is not able to play any other spot. Walker might hit a little better than Counsel, but he is not going to help this team besides a pinch hitter. He is no longer at LSU hitting game NCAA title homeruns, he is a shell of that player.
  12. I don't see the Royals moving a good young solid hitter for that price. They have his rights for a while so don't have to take a below market trade to get something in return. IF you would get him, they would have to decide is where Braun is going to play. No need to start moving guys around each spring.
  13. I really wanted to go see A-Rod play when he was in ******on, but I missed him. I did see Ryan Anderson pitch twice for the Rattlers and he never go past 5 innings because of control problems. Rattlers have has some very good talent come through in the last 10 -15 years.
  14. Thanks, Brian. Of all the weeks to say that, though, this is probably the week when it's the least true. Releases will come in pretty heavy later this week, and we may not know about them for a few days after. Relax I don't think any one is going to go nuts if the rosters are not dead on until mid next week. All members and posters should realize this is a crazy time for rosters.
  15. I know David Ortiz also played for the Timber Rattlers. My understanding is he was not known as Ortiz at the time.
  16. This team has to win. Bill Hall is not the guy that should have to carry the weight of this team and its hopes to playoffs. No one player should feel that burden or should the media pin some players. Media likes to have a point man for failuers when it is a team game. Lose as a team and win as a team. A lot of players need to grow more this year. Hart, Fielder, Weeks, Hardy, Cappy, and Bush for starters. I think that Bill Hall's number will take a bit of a dip, he had a great season last year. Some people think it is going to be the norm, I don't see that.
  17. Ennder, I agree that Nix is a bit of a dark horse as a '08 starting outfield candidate. It's the fact that he's number 7 or 8 on the outfield list suprises me that he'd be holding up a deal. I would say he is 6th on the depth chart right now. Hall, Hart, Jenks, Mench, and Clark ahead of him. Trading him now would only give them 4 healthy guys to possibly start the season out. They could get away with have Gywnn jr sitting on the pines till Nix is healthy. If Melvin got an offer he liked the trigger would be pulled because 5th OF really isn't going to play early with all the off days, unless injuries hit.
  18. Reds cut Paul Wilson today. 4.30 ERA last few years, blew up to over 7 last year. Worth a look? He was worth a look when he was the #1 overall pick and before arm injuries. Now only looking he should get is as a minor league fill in.
  19. I'd rather add a relief prospect with one of our outfielders and give Vinny Rotoni the 25th job Rotoni isn't going to add much to the bench. He can catch and play some 3B, we need more at the last spot on the roster. Mack can play all OF spots, 2B, 3B and 1B. Rotoni's best bet is to get on with a team as a backup catcher.
  20. I could see this trade working. Brian Anderson has yet to do anything at the plate, Ozzie says he can deal with that. Ozzie says a lot of things that don't make a lot of sense however. Clark would be an upgrade for the team. Mackowiak would deepen the Brewer bench so I don't know why there would be issue with bringing him a board. As much as I like Braun he needs to be given time to get a handle on 3b or to adjust to the OF. This move would buy Brewers time and not have to rely on Counsel everyday if an injury occured.
  21. Latest rumore I saw was from the Denver Post that Mench could be headed to Philly for Lieber. Also New Stark Ledger had interest in Mench from the Pirates and Dodgers with the Brewers looking at prospects. If the Dodgers do ask for Mench, I would ask for Kuo Hong-Chih I'm not sure the Dodgers give up that good of an arm for him.
  22. For a SS or CF, it does make you the man, actually. He played 66 games at SS, 59 games at 3B, and 23 at second. Cannot really put him at any spot for that season. Peavy, I have stated in the past he is one the best athletes that the Brewers have at any level. He has also grown into a better ballplayer that I ever thoght he would be. My point is that I'm not ready to put Billy Hall in the upper echelon at this point. He has a great season last year, and the year before a very solid one. Last year in 36 more at bats he Ked 59 more times. He also had one less hit in 06 than 05. His average dropped was down .21 points in 06. These are all negatives. Postives from last year 18 more homeruns, 23 more walks which helped him come close to doubling the 05 total. His OBP was up .003, and his SLG up .058. I believe he is some were in the middle of these two seasons, IMO he is a solid player no matter what spot he plays. I do not see him however being an all star type player or MVP candidate which some people have posted and they have that right. Hall has already exceeded what I ever thought he would be, so he very well could do that again,
  23. He's already the man. What more does he have to prove to show you that? And most players don't have "flashes" that last two whole seasons. Last season was breakout season that maybe be his career no the norm. The year before was a solid average season, nothing off the charts. If an 837 OPS makes you the man in 05, then are standards are low.
  24. I don't see a lot of quality in the names mentioned. Billy Bray is the best in that pen. Weathers, White, Stanton, and Hermanson are nothing to write home about. I would take the Brewer guys over them. T-Bow looks fine, Wise has been working on a breaking pitch. Cappelan and Shouse will turn it around for the roles they will be in. We only need guys for the 6th and 7th as starters shoud get us to that most days and past. 8th needs to be t-bow and 9th is Coco time.
  25. How about that decision to send Braun down? As much as I like Braun he was not ready with his glove. 4 errors in 11 games is not going to cut it. His stick is more than ready but he has not moved on with the glove enough to start the year in Milwaukee. I hate the Bill Hall love also at this point, lets see if he produces this year before we think he is going to be the man. Lot players have had flashes of game and never came close. Can Ben Sheets please stay healthy this year and prove me wrong that he is a top 5 pitcher in this league. He has the talent, but dam he has not put it all together and led this team.
