  1. Ok. then Ben Hendrickson it is. You do know that your darling Chris Capuano missed the end of 2004 with an injury and all of 2003 with Tommy John surgery right? He's an elbow twitch away from being in your doghouse. Rydogg 1. I do not consider Little Ben even an option. He is a classice 4A player. He should only be used in a pinch. ZackJack, Charlie V, or Yo would be better options. 2. A lot of pitchers have either had TJ or Rotar Cuff surgeries now days. Cappy has come back worked and proved he is a solid pitcher. I hope Sheets steps up and proves me wrong this year. I want him to be healthy and put up great numbers, but until he does I will not feel he is earning his keep. The team needs him to be at the top of his game for them to contend.
  2. I'd much rather take Pavano at what Brady Clark is making this year and roll the dice that he can give us 30 starts at the back end of the rotation than have Clark making outs on the basepaths when he is used as a pinch runner and 5th OF. Well Pavano would most likely be taking Brady's spot keeping the becnh warm with some type of injury. Clark would actual be in his best role as a 4th OFer. He got a boost in numbers because of playing time, but now the league has exposed him and it seems he can not counter. I would rather a young arm got a spot instead of some brittle guy.
  3. i think the eyeroll was at your assertion that sheets has injury issues... What would you call the last couple of years, he has not been out there for a full season. I know they are not the same injury and odd ones, but bottom line he has not been on the hill.
  4. eyeroll[/i] Rydogg if all you have is an eye roll, must realize that it is closer too the truth than you like. He need solid arms not a guy that has had issues with staying healthy for years. Take look Pavano seems to always be nicked up.
  5. If all we get for Hardy and Jackson is Figgins and Quinlan I'd just keep Jackson and Hardy That is pretty fair value. Starting SS that has not shown he can stay healthy and a prospect for a top utility guy that can fill many spots and a power hitter off the bench. I do not see this happpening however.
  6. No way we would have two players then injury issues. Sheets and Pavano. I don't think he would help anywhere.
  7. You have to keep him. Great depth so we don't wear either one out and maybe at the trade deadline someone does offer something for Miller for the stretch run unless we are up by 5 games at that point.
  8. This is the one angle I disagree with Melvin on, I would like a good leadoff guy who can steal a bag, CF seems like a logical defensive position for this....but only if it fits, don't reach for a stereotype. Hell of a good post. I'm of the same thinking with all the spots in the lineup. I keep reading major league average for stats for some spot and I laugh. We need to put the best team out there we have not a bunch of sqaure pegs in round holes.
  9. Maybe we could get Joe D out of the grave to play CF. Finley is not any kind of answer for us in CF.
  10. I'd expcet Hart to be around a 30 HR guy in his prime. He does this once or twice at the most IMO. I think Corey Hart's peak will look alot like Geoff Jenkins peak.. Pogo does this also mean we can see long extended droughts of nothing from this player like Jenks? I don't see the same power, but a better all around player. I see that number rising and Hart easily getting 25-30 HR's if he plays every day in '07. Just my opinion. I think that .796 OPS he posted last year will go up alot too He hasn't shown this kind of power in the minors so I would like to know how it will suddenly be there. I do not see the high numbers some are saying Hart will reach.
  11. They have Martin and Hall, they should be fine at Catcher. Hall wants out as he feels he is a starter. Kemp is the long term answer for the Dodgers, he is playing winter ball to make up for this year when he was called up and down by the team. He and the team hope winter ball will help his development as they feel it was a wash this year in that area. Jenks sounds real nice and a prospect, but Penny has more value than Jenks.
  12. Corey Hart Was this suppose to be in blue??
  13. No way do Brewers deal Hall for those guys.
  14. Penny and dodgers management haven't been the best of friends so he probably is available. That said, Jenkins won't do it. Now Jenkins, Vargas, and Jackson maybe a starting point. End you are right they are not on good terms. But I cannot see Ned Colleti just throwing away one of his best pitchers, because of a guy hates to lose. Penny has an issue with losing and being pulled from games. He wants to pitch a complete game all the time. I don't see the interest in Jenks for the Dodgers. They have Pierre in CF plus Either, Kemp and other guys to play the corners. This doesn't even account for Nomar as he still could end up out there.
  15. Me too. Dodgers probably want a relief pitcher too, I'd try to trade Jenkins and either Wise or Turnbow for Brad Penny (if he's available). Brewers will have to pony up to get Penny. He has electric stuff and was for a good portion of last season talked about being a CY Young candidate. Dodgers have a lot young OFers that they are talking about putting in the corners this year. I don't see them taking T-Bow as they have the Oriental closer, Braxton, and some young power arms.
  16. I think it's more important that Garcia has a lower ERA in each of the past 3 years. Back when Vazquez was good, he played for the 'spos - not exactly a situation conducive to picking up a nice win total. Add that Vasquez has basically become a guy that is only good for 5-6 innings then gets rocked. He cannot get through an order anymore than 2 times.
  17. Zaun doesn't excite me. He'll be 35 next April and if they sign him to a substantial contract, he'd be expected to play at least 75% of the time. Frankly, I don't think at 35, he'd put up anything close to a .825 OPS playing that often. And after 2007, he'd likely get worse. Besides, Rivera posted a very respectable .778 OPS playing every day the last two weeks Well this is not about exciting the fans it is about improving a team and making sure we have solid cathcers. A lot of catchers hit better later in their careers, I'm not going to say Zaun is going to improve again. I do think that he will has some solid seasons left in him and with two vets behind the plate we would less to worry about. Rivera has never been known as a hitter during his career. I see him regressing before Zaun. Rivera was an improvement over Bad Chad, but not the answer behind the plate.
  18. Dodgers are not sure what spot Nomar is playing. There is talk of 3B, OF , or 1B. I read an article last week that stated they just might keep Kent at 2B as it would keep more sticks in the lineup. Makes sense as they have no big bopper in the lineup after signing Pierra to play CF. I don't see the Brewers going after Loney, he doesn't really fit a need for us, unless we could move him to LF. I'm not sure he would be an upgrade for us.
  19. The thought Ive heard is burrell to cf(ugly thought) and possibly trading rowand and a prospect to the chisox for a starting pitcher. although I see baltimore as the eventual spot for carlos at this point anyways. They would move Victorino to CF if they move Rowand. Burrell would never be a fulltime CFer. Phillies are looking for a RH stick to split Howard and Utley up. If they sign one or trade for one, they will push to move Burrell even more.
  20. Henry Blanco got a two year, $5.25mil contract. What is Zaun expecting? I'd rather invest in the bullpen than a position where a marginal upgrade costs us $3+mil as opposed to a very good addition in an area of weakness. We have a weakness at catcher. Miller is solid, but wore down with all his playing. If we have Zaun and can split time keeping them both fresh. Maybe some would like to see Bad Chad back on the roster. We have some options in the pen already that can help.
  21. I don't see Brewers getting Baker for Clark straight up. Baker is a solid stick and we know Clark is at best a 4th OF. I would not give up on Hardy just yet.
  22. I don't know what the Crew could offer for him, perhaps Davis is not viable, perhaps he is -- durable lefties are always valuable, no matter how we trash Doug. Another interesting name is Kelvim Escobar. Versatile arm, durable, and re-established himself as a solid starter in 2007. He inexplicably finished 11-14 with a 3.61 ERA and 1.278 WHIP (in the AL!) I have no rumored availability on this one, just a suggestion. His 2007 contract: $8.5 mil ('08 = $9 mil, '09 = $9.5) Escobar is known to have elbow problems and has had to sit out times with it. I do not see him as durable, and he is not worth that kind of money. As much as I hate to say it I would take Doug Davis over him. I would take Riviera in a heartbeat to shore up the OF, I do not see the Angels dealing him though.
  23. know.... I generally pay $4.99 to talk to someone for the first minute, then $2.99 each additional minute. ----- You need to shop around for better prices. I can see the Sox doing this as they need to beat the Yanks and pitching depth is needed on the Sox team.
  24. This more than the bag of balls that I thought we would get for Jenks. I would love this move after last year we should be looking for some arms, never know when our "ace" Ben Sheets is going to down again.
  25. Let him go to another place he is not as good as some think. He is a #2 hitter in the lineup and that is about it.
