  1. My heart is with CC, I think he is a better pitcher and younger. Issue is he will cost more money and wants to get to the west coast. My mind tells me Sheets, he will cheaper and has been around for a while with this team. Concern is he goes back to his Brittle Ben days.
  2. Suppan will rebound he is just getting back from the DL. C-Vill who are you kidding he struggled early this season when he was given a chance to be a SP on this club. The guy does not have enough pitches or stuff to get through the lineup twice. McClung and Bush are hot right now and I have no problem riding them but what will the do over the long haul??
  3. Pass on Coredero he has not been right for 2 years now. I would rather the let Torres close games again next year.
  4. Kram that list is horrible. Team is either going to have pay more than 12.5 mil for a guy or take a hell of lot less talented guy for about 5 -7 mil and get worse results.
  5. Bucky and Pitch I early stated that I was wrong on Cappy being the ace. At the time he looked he could keep it going. Not afraid to admit when I am proven wrong. Sheets sure is looking great, but things will always be in the back of my mind with him and inuries.
  6. ) Just because Sabathia is a big name and had 2 really good starts in a row doesn't make him a better pitcher than Ben. His career ERA is higher than Sheets's, his ERA+ is 116 to Ben's 115, and his career WHIP is 1.26 to Ben's 1.20. Also, Sabathia has never put up an ERA under 3.2 in his career (143 ERA+), while Sheets' 2004 and 2008 campaign so far have been far better than that. Wow nothing like missing the biggest fact in all this. CC pitched in the AL were there are better teams and the DH is also in play. Lets also put into play the time Sheets was his evil twin "Brittle Ben" and things are not all that close. Sheets is at this point top 10 pitcher in the majors but CC is above him at this point. CC so far has done the job he was brought in to do. Bullpen guys are really starting to get rest just the opposite of last year and hopefull not fall apart like last year. Brewers get to the playoffs this trade will be good for them no matter what happens to the players they gave up. When you have a chance to make a run you go after it and to get good players you have to give something up.
  7. His pitch counts are the key and he surely is going to be ok as long as Ned and Maddux keep watch on him. He surely has been a huge shot in the arm for this whole staff.
  8. Glad you have done your duty on the gas price TBad. You really want to put your hands of the pitching staffs with a bunch of ??s as starters. Cards have been lucky the 1st half that Loshe, Looper and the rest of the guys pitched so well. There have been many guys that have had one great half only to fall flat on their faces the second half. IMO the Cards will fall apart with the starters they have, they are not ones with very good track records. Next year to could be Parra and Yo as the top 2 guys then what are you going to have?? Bush that right now is on a hot streak and maybe has turned the corner. I dont see him being a 200 inning guy for the team and all his up and down ways. McClung is in the same boat as Bush just that he has been around and through more teams. C-Vill to me is going to be a bullpen guy and hopefully as a setup man for this team next year. Minors are not offering a lot of help for next year. The Inman fans will think he would have helped but he is not getting past the 5inning in AA so not sure he would have offered much. Suppan gets moved this team will pay more money for the same kind of start and once again the bullpen will be taxed as it will be out there day after day for 4 or more innings.
  9. Hardy has another year at SS, Escobar is going to get next year at AAA to make sure he is ready to make that jump. Hardy would be great at 2B if he agrees to move over there, his arm wold help in turning many double plays.
  10. Now we are suppose to give an apology for a guy that has struggled all season, becaue he hit some late game homeruns?? People only recall Hall's ESPN homeruns so they think he is the man once again. Yes Hall has had his fair share of hits over the last 15 games or so. Other night he still looked lost at the plate when it came to the at bat prior to the HR. While is defense has been fine I will wait a while to see if Hall as really got it together or if this is just a hot streak and he goes back down again.
  11. Yo needs to be on the mound come next season and not before that. I dont see the need to try and ruin this guys career for a playoff run. Torres and the rest of the pen will have to do the job if we are to stay in the playoffs and win a world series.
  12. Brian is right and his defense is not top notch, he should be on the other side of diamond at 1B. Ian Stewart might be a better option if you are seriuos about getting a 3B, but Rockies not likely to move him.
  13. This site is filled with a great amount of insight and discussion about the Milwaukee Brewer franchise. There are many different views that get posted and disagreements with stat heads vs gut feeling/what they see kind of guys. All in all we are here since we have one commone interest and that being the Milwaukee Brewers. I spend a ton of time on this site because you can still get info on teams and what is going on on with them also on this site. That info comes from a dedicated base of fans that like to share the info and discuss it. Off Top topic really has a lot of interesting stuff in it I tend to real a lot of the UW stuff to see what other people are talking about. Brian and all that do the behind the scenes work keep it up this site is top notch, and the trolls usually are not around for long.
  14. Colby is right with the Bill Hall comparison. I'm not a huge Bill Hall fane, but he was drafted as a great athlete and I think rushed a bit to the bigs. He could have used sometime to work on patience at the plate. When Brewer was drafted and I read about him, first thought was he could be a another Bill Hall in the future. Brewer has time to decelop as this team doenst need to rush him with the depth this team has right now.
  15. Frederickson is just getting professional coaching so there is a chance he will get and start throwing strikes. Right now he is going through a huge adjustment in life off the diamonds as well, some players take longer than others. Garrison is a guy that I still think has a chance to be something big when it comes to the majors.Inman leading the league in Ks is great but how will this help him when he gets to the next level when the batters are better and swing less at balls? Inman should be going getting intot he 6th on most starts and be building up his stamina not just striking out players and being done by the 5th. Ryan "Space Needle" Anderson use to K a bunch but could not last 5 IPs, and what happened to him?
  16. Stetter will be back for later this season if he doenst slump in the minors. Mota should be on his last leg, and a bod outing or two the Crew will have to move on as he has not helped like he should be. I cant see Melvin letting his contract getting in the way of improving the team when they are on the verge of making the playoffs with better talent from them minors at their fingertips.
  17. Second half just started so Jenks will heat up soon although right now he is in the middle of a playoff race. Time will tell him Jenks can handle the heat of a pennat race and still put up his usual numbers.
  18. Makes a lot of sense since the D-Backs have struggles with closing games out, Lyon has sucked. Rauch will alllow Pena and Lyon to be used in the 7th and 8th.
  19. This trade makes no sense during or the offseason. If LaRoche comes to Brew Town the Dodgers would ahve to add something to make this trade happen. I'm dont like Bill Hall but he sure is better than LaRoche who can not stay healthy and sure has not lived up to his minor clippings.
  20. Bush and McClung are the favorite flavor right now, but there past shows that they can not be counted on yet to throw 200 innings for a season yet. Both have had up and downs could easily and put the team back further if you decide that they are better than Suppan. Tbad I would like to know what better bargains you think will be out there? From what I have seen the last couple years there are maybe one bargain when it comes to pitching unless you get lucky and a guy of the scrap heap hits it big or your own guy busts out. Market is what it is just like the gas prices, they are facts of life and you have to pay.
  21. His hitting streak was in 1987. It's true that a lot of things went right that year, and a lot of things went wrong after that. Bosio, Molly, Seitzer let go. Replacing Sufhoff with Nilsson behind the plate. Navarro falling apart. Wegman getting hurt again. Your right, that I always remeber the video of them playing the hit streak to begin his speech. I played in an area local baseball league for years after high school, one team put Cal Eldred on there roster in the mid 90s as a joke while he was injured.
  22. The 92 team was one that just came together and has a ton of stuff fall right for them that season. Most of the pitchers had one of if not their best seasons that year. The offense was aggresive on the bases and made things happen as it lack some big sticks in the middle. I'm not sold that this team would have been put over the top with big stick added to the middle of the lineup, it was just not that type of team. I saw a White Sox game that year that Scott Fletcher hit a HR down the left field line that just went out to win the game in the bottom of the ninth. What I took from that game was Yount coming to Listach's side when he was taken out by a cheap slide at second, the bullpens went over the wall in support and everyone was on the field. No punches were thrown, but you knew the Brewers team had each others back. Two weeks before Molly signed with the Blue Jays he came to UW-Stevens Point for a speech. I got the chance with other media to interview him. He talked about the tight bond of the team and how magical the season was for him and the team, it was his hit streak season. Molly was a total class act and I think he knew that 92 was a mirage and not the start to some good Brewer teams to come.
  23. Well, even by putting Suppan in there instead of McClung, Bush or Villy, it still doesn't inspire much confidence!! I think we're looking at a big letdown next year, so we better win it all in 2008! There might be a little let down, but Melvin will have all off season to get a SPs figured out. Right now the top end of the rotation is awesom with CC, Sheets and Parra. Next year you have Yo, Parra, and maybe a #1 guy I have no issue with that. 4-5 spot can be filled out with the guys we have left over. Suppan looks great deeper in the rotation as he eats up the innnigs not like a lot of 4-5 guys that are lucky to get to the six.
  24. Inman still has aways to go before he proves that the Brewers should have not included in trade last year. Many prospects have burned out or topped out after a couple of great seasons in the minors. Now Inman is going through some struggles, he might right the ship shortly and get back on track, but there is still AAA in front of him. Brewers could once again be looking for an arm in the pen this season, then we would see what type of price they pay once again for help.
  25. Taschner is no help to this team Shouse and Stetter are better pitchers than him. Durham brings some leadership, defense at 2B, and a late game pinch runner if needed.
