  1. What is actually said is ...- "Whether Okajima would've ended up with the White Sox or the third club is unknown, but Chicago makes the most sense....Of course, the Red Sox refused to give up Okajima to get Dye. Meanwhile, Buster Olney reported that the third team was the Brewers. RotoWorld speculated that the Red Sox may have been trying to get Derrick Turnbow from Milwaukee. The White Sox might've been eyeing Turnbow as well. Kenny Williams is also known to like Manny Parra. "
  2. This is part of a new line of thinking the Brewers are using. The thought was that the open panels are cutting home run totals. Jim Powell talked about this a few weeks ago. He said he wasn't sure how true that was but said that was the plan for a while.
  3. What about 8? HMMMMM What about 8
  4. It might not have been a shill, I'm more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I'll watch his auctions and the winning bidders for awhile before passing judgment. But when you have 3 auctions for the same item and your prices are much higher than anyone else's and the same bidder is winning each one, it throws up a few red flags.
  5. Before I comment I will say this...I support the police, I think highly of most police. I teach my kids to be respectful of the police and I understand that police officers have a tough job that produces a lot of stress. I know there are aspects of the job I can't relate to, but... Pewaukee cops are an interesting bunch. Cops here are on the look out 24-7. On one hand, as a person that lives here, I'm appreciative of the police presence. But on the other hand, I've never before lived somewhere where I constantly "fear" being pulled over. Three years ago I was coming home from work. I was at a stop sign waiting for cars to pass so I could turn. One of the cars that passed in the opposite direction was a police car. Sure enough as soon as I made my turn he flips the lights on and u-turns it. He walked up to my car and asked me if I knew why I was being pulled. I really didn't know why so I said, "did I not come to a complete stop back there?" He ignored me and flashed his light around my car. He says, "sir have you been drinking. Looks like you have an open beverage". I turn around a can of DIET COKE so he could see the label and he says, "okay, I wasn't sure what that was. He asks for my info (blah blah blah) and goes back to his car. And I wait & wait. About 10 minutes pass before he comes back and says "Sorry, I just didn't think you lived around here." and sent me on my way. I was like "are you kidding". Then three weeks ago I was heading west, going to the post office. I'm about 5 blocks away when a cop drives by me going east. I watched him in the mirror looking for the famous "Pewaukee U turn". And sure enough he did. There were about 3 cars behind me (and therefore between us) so his didn't turn his light on yet. So I kicked the cruise control in at 26mph and kept driving. I got to within a block of the post office before the cop caught up to me and hit his lights. I pull over, he sits in his car for a few minutes before ticketing me for expired plates. I never argue with cops, I find that gets you nowhere, but I did wonder how he saw my expired plates while going in the opposite direction. Or maybe he saw them through the 3 cars that were between us. Or maybe, just maybe, it's possible he decided to pull me over before he knew why. I will say that the cop in my most recent experience was polite and what not. Had he not given me a ticket in the manner he did, I would have thought he was a very nice. It was just weird.
  6. Seems like the prices have already started to adjust. The three that I assumed were shill auctions were each over $100 when they reached the 10 hour mark. There are two on ebay right now with less than 11 hours. One is $31, the other $55. Does anyone remember the name of the seller in the potential shill auction? I'd like to be able avoid dealing with him if possible.
  7. "It's unbelievable, the mentality here. When I was in Atlanta, they won 14 straight championships. We could lose eight straight and you'd get the same response: 'No big deal,'" says Estrada. "When you're used to winning, it's a different attitude. A different feeling. A different mentality. Here, it's like a panic zone. This is a different team. I guess, every year, when things go bad, it's like, 'Here we go again. "(Scoreboard watching) drives me nuts, I know people are excited around here. And there's something to be excited about. But we just got to kind of keep plugging along." - Johnny Estrada I think that pretty much sums you what your saying.
  8. Yeah, I saw those on ebay. And I also noticed the same guy is buying all three...hmmm I'm not saying it's a shill auction to drive the price up, but I'm going to wait until I see a different seller and a different buyer before I believe that to be market value.
  9. But in reality, very few free agents "want" to come here. Winning might change some of that, but you can't blame him to much for not wanting to waste his time visiting a team he had zero interest in playing for at the time. He declined to even entertain the Brewers offer, that it. Thats the business side of things. It sucks, but it is what it is. I take waaaaay more exception to a guy like Ken Griffey Jr who has gone out of his way - on more than one occasion - to slam the city of Milwaukee itself. You want to talk about a guy that "doesn't want to be here", it's Griffey. Thats why I laugh whenever I see a rumored deal for Griffey. He hates the city. His wife hates the city. And why he needs to mention it more than once (or even once) I don't know.
  10. Ask Matt if he has any left. I talked to him this morning and he said he might get more. Matt's original post
  11. I've got 7 left if your looking. And BTW, they look awesome and are really well constructed. Solid. Edit: Sorry make that 4 left
  12. Okay then..... shut me up. How about, "Don't leave before the credits because you'll miss Maggies first word that the other Simpsons also hear and that was also not voiced by Elizabeth Taylor. That should do it.
  13. I just saw it, I won't spoil it for anyone but I will say this Don't leave before the credits end...you'll miss Maggies first word! Very fun, I haven't laughed at a movie theater in a long time. And when was the last time you went to a movie where people applauded at the end?
  14. Sweet. Last I saw he got DFA'ed by the Mets a few weeks ago. But I see he played the other day for ATL, very cool. I liked him way back when & I remember thinking he was an "old guy" when we picked him up back in '97, to think he's still playing 10 years later is amazing.
  15. I'm going tonight! Woo Hoo! Albert Brooks. Double Woo Hoo!
  16. I use the internet to track girls down all the time. I'm doing it right now. Sorry, I couldn't resist. In all seriousness, go for it if you want, but two years is a long time. You never know how people are going to react after being "tracked down". Some people might get freaked out by that. If possible find a mutual friend and contact that person and see if they will act as a intermediary. That might help if she doesn't want to reconnect or whatever. She certainly has a "new" life, so be respectful of that. It's possible that you've built her up in your mind as "the one, so you might be setting yourself up for disappointment. Just things to keep in mind.
  17. Jeff Cirillo (On my all time favorite player list) Lyle Overbay (OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO) Richie Sexson (I always liked him) Julio Franco (He's only 3 years younger than my Dad) Doug Jones (Pitched for the '82 Brewers and the '98 Brewers. Come on.) I know Franco got cut and Jones is long gone from baseball, but I'd still cheer them if I saw them at Target or something.
  18. I also saw that ESPN has that game but I'm 99% certain that it will be blacked out in Milwaukee. I used to like watching the Brewers on ESPN because of the enhanced production package, but if it means I have to listen to Joe Morgan... no thanks. FSN is still carrying the game, thats good enough for me.
  19. It's going to be somewhere near $100. The last on on ebay went for $75, and that was about the cheapest I've seen it, but it wasn't in the best condition. Waukesha Sports Cards has one the north side of $100. Warrior, your looks like its in good condition. The box looks nicer than one I have.
  20. My son wants the Cappy plaque, I want the poster. Check your inbox.
  21. Yeah it was. I can't understand why they moved it so late. It used to be a two inning affair. They'd give you the choices and then a half inning to count everyone in the park.
  22. Hart will also be signing August 3rd at State Fair Park. Noon for one hour.
  23. Actually, the Brewers / White Sox rivalry was pretty hot for a while. I think it came to a head in the 90's as was mentioned in the post before mine. I used to have a video of the Garner / Bevington fight on youtube before someone (MLBap) stepped in an had it removed. When the Brewers first moved to the NL lots of Brewers fans said "oh you just can't hate the Cubs". There was a very large segment of people that though this was going to be kind of a friendly rivalry. And it started out that way. The Cubs and Brewers had been playing a home and away series (at County Stadium & Wrigley) just prior to the start of the regular season for a few years before the Crew moved to the NL. And during that time, it was friendly. When Sox fans came to County Stadium you expected a fight in the stands, where as when the Cubs came in for that one game a year you'd sit next to a Cub fan,buy him a beer and talk about how much you hated the White Sox. An "enemy of my enemy is my friend" kind of thing. It wasn't until the big home run chase of Sosa's that things started to turn. That was about the time that Cubs fans really started to over run County Stadium and later Miller Park. Prior to that it was usually a pretty partisan crowd that got along "ok". Once Cubs fans "took over" our park all the "friendly" went out the window. Top that with the fact that we are in the same division, we are competing cities in close proximity of one another and you have the makings of a good rivalry, even if Chicagoan's don't want to admit it.
  24. Hmm. This reminds me of something my (former) boss said to me once (about 3 month before I got his job). "Can't be done, don't even try"
