  1. It's hard to watch this team on the road at times. We can focus on Estrada, but when you go 12 innings and score only one run, it's a team effort.
  2. Yeah, I believe it was 2004. He "pulled an Estrada" and trotted down the line on a ground ball out. Ned "talked" to him but Billy did it again in his next start. After that Hall was sat for a next few days. We talked about this earlier this year when Hall stood and admired his towering, way back, no doubt about it.... double. He had to kick it in to serious over drive, and with partial thanks to Carlos Lee, just made it into second.
  3. I yell at my tv set all the time when I see him trotting down to first instead of running. I did it again last night. On top of that he is just slow. Very Slow. But I can't call him lazy. From all indications he busted his back working with the pitchers. Remember how much he caught in spring training? While other guys were going 3 innings he was going 6 & 7 everyday, right out of the gate. He was trying to learn a new pitching staff. You can't call that lazy. And it carried over into the regular season. How long did it take Damien Miller a start behind home plate? The guy likes to catch, and catch alot. And catching isn't easy. Who knows maybe it's starting to catch up with him. I'm by no means trying to defend Estrada for dogging it down the line - it is on no occasion ok to not hustle down the line -, I'm simply saying I don't find the word lazy appropriate.
  4. Whenever I see a bobble on ebay, I go double check your site. You've been pretty accurate with this go round. Any work you put into it is appreciated, I'm sure others agree.
  5. Yep, $100 or so is about right. Prices Not that BHF's site is the "is all, ends all" price guide, but it does provide a fairly accurately reflection the going rates on ebay. Pretty useful, it's in my bookmarks.
  6. I just screen capped it from the broadcast. I used for the "countdown" thread.

  8. Thanks for the updates!
  9. I love it, you are like the Ryan Braun of teaching.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. I can't go as far as to call it animosity, but I do remember a Koskie quote saying how his teammates didn't seem to understand what the problem was last year and he felt like he was being questioned about the validity of the injury. This was around the same time Ben Sheets said he was hurt by comments by teammates about his own injuries. But I agree, I see no reason not to give him a ring. He's on the roster after all, just the DL. And don't they give them to everyone involved with the team these days. I know its at the teams discretion, but I can't see the Brewers not giving him one. I mean the Red Sox handed out nearly 500 (!) rings when they won it. Granted, they had been saving up for quite a while. And while I veer a little further off topic, did anyone hear anything about a tiny little tiff in the Brewers clubhouse between Prince and Billy Hall? ( I put that in bold because I don't want to start any rumors). My brother and I were at a game this weekend when he mentioned it to me. I hadn't heard anything about it. So I went home and looked around for something. The only thing I found was the following reference : "Hall has donned what he calls his "Ultimate Warrior" costume for some workouts, a reference to the former World Wrestling Federation star. It led teammate Prince Fielder to chide Hall for not taking his rehab seriously, but Hall said it's just the opposite, insisting he was approaching his work like "a true warrior."" I'm sure it was nothing, but I found it interesting that the article (on brewers.com, BTW here) came out the same day that Bill Hall wore the Prince Fielder jersey during the Brewers pre game warm ups. The same jersey he took off and spiked on the ground as he left the field (according to Brian Anderson). These guys all seem so close, I was interested when my brother brought it up.
  11. At one point he worked for NBC (I think), but now he works for Fox. He called the Brewers/Cubs game from a few weeks ago. He also does football for FOX.
  12. I have 4 xm radios. I just picked up the portable Samsung two weeks ago. No problems. I don't care for the interface all that much, for the price I paid it's fine. I wasn't planning on get another one, but this one was had a serious clearance price reduction. In total I've had 5 xm radios, they all have worked well - except for one. The Roady2 that was in my car died after about 2 months.
  13. Don't forget you are responsible for filling the gas tank back up also. If you don't they charge you some outrageous price per gallon. Make sure to ask how big the gas tank is. If they give you a truck thats half full you'll want to know exactly how much more to put in at the end of the day. When I did it a few months ago their fee was over $4 per gallon. Ouch.
  14. I should clarify. It's not that no one is cheering, it's that a disproportional amount of fans don't seem to know whats going on. They only cheer after everyone else is cheering, and they don't seem to know why. And it's not a large % of people, just more so than I've noticed in the past. AGREED! edited: Spelling
  15. Fed up from dealing with idiots all day, I can understand (although, I was literally the first person through this particular gate near the outfield. I got there early, went to fridays, ate lunch then headed to the gate. It's my regular routine. I don't usually go the LF route because its too crowded. When I leave Fridays, I hang a right and park myself in the opposite direction of most people. No one really ever goes this way, but anyway...) After asking her a question, she tried to have me arrested when I told her she was wasting my time while my 10 year old son was by himself in the stadium. I don't think I should have to "Let it sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide".
  16. I agree and I hate that. The Brewers have come a loooooong way in terms of in game entertainment and such, but they are still so far behind some other teams. We used to go to other places and watch games and say, "why can't the Brewers do that". There is a certain part of the crowd that likes the "artificial excitement" if you will (the walk up music, the lights, the scoreboard hype) and then the other half that hates it. It almost seems like the Brewers are trying to play both sides of the fence. They won't go all out on the "hype", which leaves some fans saying how lame it is that the Brewers can't do it right. And they won't do away with all of it, which leave other people saying "why have it at all. Personally, I want my experience to be as exciting as possible. I like the music, the lights, the "make some noise". I like that they want us to be loud and what not, but they can never get it just right. A timing issue like BHF noted, is a perfect example. I come away from almost game thinking that, while I had a great time (usually) at the park, Aleta Mercer and her staff keep coming up short.
  17. Oh yeah, I know that. I've been in management in a very customer service heavy industry. I've fielded my fair share of "fun calls" in the past. I have no intention of even raising my voice. I just figure that without any feedback they might think everything is just fine. Exactly my point.
  18. Well I'm certainly not upset with the restricted access. And yes, once you see the area is restricted it was obvious why. What bothered me, and it seems others, was the way they (ushers, security & police) handled the matter. And to take it a step further, this year the Brewers hospitality staff in general seems to have taken a step back. Last night was just the back breaker. How hard is it to be polite? If not polite, how about just not a horses rear end? As for last night, it's not like this is an area that is never open to the public. Even with large crowds, that area is usually open. So for the first response to be "move or be arrested, tossed or banned from the stadium" is ridiculous. I have been to 27 games already this year. I am a season ticket holder with tickets to 14 more games and I'll probably wind up purchasing more ticket over the next few weeks. I'll call my ticket agent on Monday to offer my feedback. I'm not going to call and complain about the restricted areas of the park. I'm not going to call and complain about the inconvenience. I am going to call and complain about the behavior of their staff. If nothing else, it will make me feel better.
  19. It's okay, I made me laugh.
  20. I personally can't stand the wave, I just don't like it very much. When the Indians were playing here in April, fans didn't really know the players, perhaps didn't really care about the outcome of the game that much and the fans turned to the wave for entertainment. That was fine with me. I actually enjoyed doing the different variations of the wave those few games. Remember all the pub we got over the slow mo wave? It seems to me that since then Brewers fans are overusing the wave. Every game I go to me and my son have the same conversation about when the wave is appropriate. Monday night people were trying to get it going in the 2nd inning. I feel the wave should only be considered is when the game is no longer "interesting", say a 10 run blow out loss. Anything close - no way. Pay attention and cheer your team on. Also, on the same topic, I've noticed that lots of fans don't cheer when they should. I've come home a few times this year and said to my girlfriend "boy the crowd sucked tonight". I'm not talking about attendance wise, that's been great. I mean fans not cheering when the pitcher gets a sac bunt down, when a runner moves over with less than 2 out... I'm assuming that some of this is due to the fact that I'm sure some of these are "new fans" that are just getting on board the bandwagon. Other times, I've noticed that some people are almost golf clapping. A few weeks ago, a Brewer pitcher got a base hit and there were like 10 people sitting around me that were clapping in a "I'm trying to be polite and not wake anyone" kind of way. It may be that I'm just so excited by the prospect of a winning (and more) season, I expect everyone else to be jumping up and down too, I don't know.
  21. I second that, but I doubt it will go away anytime soon. The first time that was "unveiled" I said "oh, come on..." The person I was sitting with that day is a Brewers executive and she said that was part of new sponsorship deal with Brakebush chicken. I just shook my head.
  22. Agreed, get the uhaul. How far are do you have to move it. I recently had to move one large item and rented a uhaul. I got the 14 footer. The total was $89 to go 73 miles.
  23. I agree that you can't bring a sign that has an obvious slur on it and expect to hang around very long. I would have expected the sign to be taken away, but kicked out? arrested? Hmmm, I guess it depends on how they reacted and handled the situation. Which brings me to my own story from last night. I got to the park 90 min.'s early trying to catch an autograph. I entered near fridays and was going to walk around the bleachers towards right field when an usher and a MP security person stopped me (and my son) and told me I wasn't allowed near the bleachers without a SRO ticket or a bleacher ticket. I understood that, no problem. I asked, "is it possible to escort us through, we're trying to get in line for autographs". This is where it turned ugly fast. The security person, a lady, says, "Sir, where is your ticket? Only SRO tickets can stand back here." I said, I know I was just trying to take a shortcut." That would have been the end of it but she kept insisting to see my ticket. I said "look I'm trying to take my son for autographs, thats it." By now my son has started to run back the way we came hoping to get in a different autograph line. So he's 50+ feet in the other direction, running, so I turn around to go after him. I take one step and she stops me and says, sir I need to see your ticket". I said "no you don't. I'm not trying to sit or stand somewhere I'm not supposed to. I asked you a question. Now you are wasting my "gosh darn" time, why?. My son is running through the stadium by himself, and you want to stand here and harass me. Screw that" And I started to walk away. She says, "Sir I'm going to have you arrested." and she gets on her walkie talkie and starts giving my description. I just turned and walked away. As I passed by Fridays, I saw two officers walking towards where I had just come from. I was like "Was she really going to have me arrested for that?". I guess I was lucky that I was just one of about 30,000 young males wearing a brewers jersey last night. Anyhow, I found my son in line for an autograph and we enjoyed the rest of the night. I could not believe that. I wasn't drunk - I didn't even have a single beer. I wasn't screaming. There were only like 3 other people standing near us, so it's not like I was creating a huge scene. I was just floored. I understand the Brewers don't have much experience handling large crowds on a daily basis, but things are getting really bad this year. Ushers on huge power trips, and it seems like common sense is being lost. I had noticed it happening as the season progressed but until last night it never affected me.
  24. I think you know what I meant. I wasn't trying to rewrite the definition of the phrase, just point out that the Cubs seem to feel, based on statements from several players, that the games they play here are like extra home games for them.
