  1. A big reason why it seems so slow is because the episode order was doubled from last year and the budget was cut in half. I'm not sure if the per episode budget was cut or the season budget was cut (meaning could have as little as 1/4 budget per episode as they had last year). Either way, with a smaller budget, there will be less action and more talking/random walking around doing nothing. One could argue that the writers could still have done a better job with the character development even with a smaller budget but I think a big reason the show isn't as good as last season is the reduced budget (and the lack of Frank Darabont).
  2. Ive always referred to him as Igna. Short for Ignoramis. Its a stretch IgnoAramis....... Thanks for the suggestion. If I had my 'druthers I'd pick something that doesn't insult a Brewer (Diego, for example, only insulted the fan who failed at the Triple Play Trivia in 2010), but at the moment this is first on the list. Well, also last. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gifThere's the obvious Three Musketeers reference...
  3. People (not trying to just single you out) really need to stop with the Gamel at 3rd stuff. The guy isn't a 3B. Some might argue that ARam isn't either but he's a lot better than Gamel there. Gamel could never throw and that's a pretty big problem at 3B. That being said, I would play ARam at 1B once or twice a week to get Green some starts.
  4. Except there isn't a right handed platoon partner or a position for him to play. Gamel should get the job at 1B. Pena will cost too much anyway and since we have KRod and ARam, we don't need to keep adding high-priced vets.
  5. I don't see how Pena would represent any upgrade over Gamel.
  6. We're not getting Votto for Greinke. That'd be like trading Braun for Greinke.
  7. I think it's a tad early for this. We have to at least wait until the appeal process, all the facts come out and we can really hear the entire story, whatever it may be. Exactly. Until we have all the facts, there's really no way we can truly pass judgment.
  8. Come on, we don't even know for sure if Braun will be suspended or for how long. Let's wait until we get all the facts.
  9. For some reason I never had a big problem with him. Definitely dislike Yadi the most and Pujols too. I think my most "hated" Cub would probably be Soriano.
  10. I hate to say it but at the time, I was one of those. But to be fair, Suppan actually pitched pretty well for 4 seasons before coming here. But 3 of those were for the magical Cardinals.
  11. I wouldn't mind ARam if the cost/years aren't too much. I would probably top out at 3/33 but I would rather do 2/24 with a team/vesting option to make it 3/36. I've also mentioned a few times that I think ARam should play 1B at least once a week so Green can get some starts at 3rd. I hope they find a way to get Green at least 250-300 AB this year.
  12. As it stands now, I would put Green or Lucroy 2nd, probably Green. It's really scary when they face a lefty though cuz Gomez should not be leading off. If no more deals are made, I could see Roenicke sticking Hart back at leadoff with CF platoon 2nd, Braun, Weeks, McGehee/Gamel, Green/McGehee, Gonzalez, Lucroy. Not how I'd do it but that just seems exactly like a Roenicke lineup. If they somehow signed ARam, I would bet either Weeks/Hart lead off with the other in the 5 spot. And since Hart has been vocal about hating the 5 spot, I bet Hart is the leadoff hitter next year with the CF platoon hitting 2nd.
  13. I'm genuinely excited about the Alex Gonzalez signing since it means no Yuni.
  14. I'd love me some Cahill. Definately one of my bigget man crushes. Maybe it's time to get at little creative now that K-Rod's in the fold. Gamel, Peralta, Schafer, Axford for Cahill and Pennington Trade Wolf for cheap mlb ready relief pitcher. Trade for Morales. Too much IMO. I know Cahill is still young but his 09 and 11 seasons were just about average, especially when you consider he pitches half his games in a pitcher's park. I think Peralta could be just as good as Cahill. I think Gamel deserves his shot and Morales hasn't played in a year and a half. Schafer should be a solid 4th OF and Axford is obviously incredibly valuable with his contract.
  15. I highly doubt it. If he had a deal ready, he would have signed it. A lot of guys wait until the last minute to officially decline/accept. I'm pretty sure Prince hasn't even officially declined yet.
  16. I don't think those old rankings matter much anymore but I believe Pujols was the only FA rated higher than Prince.
  17. Yup, I've been saying this and people have responding by saying there's no chance we'd cut him. I mean....really? If K-Rod were a free agent, you'd sign him on a 1 yr $11-$12 million deal if you're the Brewers? That's essentially what you'd be doing by not cutting him. Sounds horrible. I was saying there's no way they'd cut him because I think they could trade him for at least something. They might have to eat some salary but if they could trade him to someone who wants bullpen help (like BOS) for someone who can play SS (maybe Lowrie/Scutaro), I think they would explore that. Otherwise they should be able to at least get some fringe prospect out of him. I just find it hard to believe that they would cut him before at least exploring deals to trade him.
  18. Sorry but he said would a package centered around Wolf get it done? "Centered" means Wolf would be the key piece to the deal, i.e. the best player in the trade. I would say it's a fact that the Marlins wouldn't trade Hanley if the best player in a package were Randy Wolf. Using The Truth's offer, the key piece in that deal would probably be Thornburg/Peralta so that is different than saying a package centered on Wolf. It might just be semantics but I was responding to exactly what he said: a package centered around Wolf or Marcum.
  19. No way would Wolf be enough unless one or both of Braun/Weeks are included. I don't think Marcum would be enough either. Our farm system is so thin there's really no point speculating what it would take to get Hanley because we don't have the pieces.
  20. I would do a rotation of 1B/3B with Green, ARam, and Gamel. ARam spells Gamel at 1B at least once a week, giving Green a start at 3B. If McGehee stays, he gets a start at 3B once a week against lefty with ARam at 1B. Then ARam sits at least once a week, giving Gamel/Green both starts. I think this would keep ARam fresh, limiting potential for injuries, and would limit the damage he could do on defense at 3B. It would also give Green plenty of ABs to stay fresh.
  21. If they sign ARam, Yuni will probably be the SS. Hopefully I'm wrong. I would even take Gonzalez over him. Furcal isn't likely to sign here (according to a recent tweet) so it's probably between Yuni/Gonzalez. I would just non-tender McGehee then since we'd have Green to back up 3B/2B and we'd save about $3 mil. However, the Brewers really like McGehee so that won't happen.
  22. I would think the Brewers could trade him for just about anything before they cut him.
  23. I hate when people use the argument about a guy has proven he's done something in the majors. Gamel/Green haven't "proven" anything because they haven't got a reasonable opportunity to do so. I don't want to turn this into an argument about whether Gamel has gotten an opportunity or not but obviously McGehee has had more opportunity to "prove" himself. The problem with McGehee is because his minor league numbers suggest 09/10 were out of nowhere. Gamel/Green both had way better minor league numbers than McGehee. They are also more athletic, younger, and seem to have better fundamentals. I'm not guaranteeing they will be better than McGehee in 2012 but there is a definite possibility.
  24. I'd like Green just fine as our 2b/3b utility guy. Ramirez on a two year deal would be ideal. He'll more than likely miss some time and be less than stellar on D, but his bat is still legit. This is a little off topic but why is it that we don't fill our bench roles with guys from our system. We've spent all that time developing them and then for some reason feel the need to let the Counsels, Kotsays and Wilson's of the world hang on with roles. Green, Schafer, and Farris would all make excellent bench players imo.I've always wondered this as well. I think STL is a great example of a team who actually gives their young players PT (Jay, Freese, Craig, Descalso, Lynn, Sanchez, Salas, etc.). They always seem to have a lot of young home-grown guys on their team. We'll sometimes give young guys a shot at the bullpen but that's about it. I blame it all on Brad Nelson (/half blue).
  25. He definitely was. I believe he was on the PTBNL list for the CC trade and many were hoping the Indians wouldn't take him. Personally, I always thought Green could be a good MLB player. I see him hitting like a Lyle Overbay-type, not many HRs but lots of doubles. I wouldn't mind ARam on a 2 year deal but I would find ways to start Green 1-2 times a week. I would probably sit ARam once a week to limit injury potential and give Green a start at 3rd and/or give Gamel one day a week off with ARam at 1st and Green at 3rd. Then Green can give Weeks a day off every couple of weeks so he could see something like 8 starts a month plus PH opportunities and finish the year with 300+ ABs.
