  1. So....who would YOU rather have playing SS for the Milwaukee Brewers between the two? Your answer was cloudy. I would have rather had Furcal but he really hasnt been good since the Cardinals got him. Actually outside of playing the Brewers he has been awful at the plate, but he has to be a better fielder so I would rather have himYeah I think the reason everyone wanted Furcal (or anyone but Yuni) was because even if they were the same offensively, just about any replacement would've been better defensively.
  2. And the Furcal domination continues. I don't get it.
  3. I thought so. Then again, he used to be fast too.
  4. Are you kidding me with that throw Hart? You can't throw out Berkman from shallow right? Just awful. This team defense is atrocious.
  5. He's been calling that pitch all night. And McGehee's been taking that pitch all year. Swing the bat already.
  6. Well, apparently Nash has been released. Nash posted on his twitter that he passed his physical but couldn't come to terms financially. So they go from ruining a great Cena/Punk feud, to setting up a terrible Nash/Punk feud, to a mediocre HHH/Punk feud. If this isn't storyline, WWE really dropped the ball by not thinking this thing through fully. If there was any indication Nash wasn't going to be there long-term, they should've kept the Cena/Punk thing going for another couple months.
  7. As it's been explained many times, "should" and "can" are two different things. Yuni can't bunt. He may have done so in the past but just watching his technique, you can tell he is a terrible bunter. And no, you do not bunt when the corners are crashing like St. Louis was. Both players were practically on top of the plate. With a force at 3rd, the bunt would have to be near-perfect, instead of just in play. Even if you think bunting on the 1st pitch and with Yuni is the right call, I don't know how any knowledgeable baseball fan can say you still bunt with Yuni with the corners crashing there.
  8. If you're talking about the Cardinals game, the issue wasn't simply bunting in that situation. It was bunting with the corners crashing in and not using a far superior bunter (Counsell) over someone who doesn't even have the proper bunting mechanics (Yuni).
  9. If the pitcher wants to work around the 8th hitter, wouldn't that suggest not giving him anything to hit so he walks? Unless of course you're talking about that happening and Yuni still swinging at garbage pitches.
  10. Monty sums it up perfectly for me. Pebadger, I think your post is just over-the-top. You keep using these analogies that just don't make sense to me (criminals?). Apparently you can't be on the team this year unless the other players on the team agree to it? So did all the players huddle around and vote whether to allow Hairston, Lopez, etc. to join the team mid-season? I also think you're still putting way too much emphasis on this chemistry stuff. Obviously the players want everyone to do well and will cheer when they do. But I also think they would be willing to accept another player who performs better. If we got Furcal/Barmes/Ryan at the deadline to replace Yuni, would the team have shunned them simply because Yuni was a good teammate? No, they would've made the team better. Also, these guys want to win. Winning I think is the main reason the chemistry is so good. Last year it was many of the same guys but they weren't winning and the chemistry was down. Some might argue that's because of Macha but really it's because of the pitching this year (IMO). A winning team usually means a happy team. Greinke even said himself that he didn't try as hard at times in KC besides it didn't matter since they weren't going anywhere. Monty nailed it when he said not bringing someone up could lead to resentment by the team that the FO isn't trying to improve. That's what happened with Greinke and he wanted out of KC. The team went on a huge run the last month so they were obviously happy with how things were going. But if Green or someone else that could've improved the team were brought in, I bet they would've been welcomed with open arms.
  11. That's because he is a #1 or #2. I don't know how you can look at his stats (career and this year) and think he's anything but.Be careful when looking at his stats. Against .500 or better teams he's a pedestrian 3-3 with a 4.19 ERA. Furthermore, the Brewers are just one game over .500 in games he's started (15-14). That doesn't say a 1 or a 2 to me. He's done most of his damage against teams like Houston and Pittsburgh. What about over his career? Over 5 ERA against NYY, TEX, ARI but under 3 against CHW, PHI, and ATL. Obviously most pitchers are going to have success/failure against certain teams but over his career, Marcum's overall numbers have been good. I wouldn't say he's a true ace but I would consider him a solid 2. Would I give him a 4/60 deal? Probably not but if he would take 3/45, I'd consider it.
  12. Marcum is in line to get something like $10-12m for next season. I would rather see the Brewers trade Marcum than lock him up because Marcum is going to get paid like a #1 or #2 pitcher in the range of $13-17m a year. That is going to be a bad contract for the Brewers. That's because he is a #1 or #2. I don't know how you can look at his stats (career and this year) and think he's anything but.
  13. I really think Green needs to be starting almost everyday at a combo of 3B/2B in the 5th spot. Our offense is just dead after 1-4 (besides Lucroy at times).
  14. Why does Roenicke play the "percentages" with the IBB setting up the DP but he didn't play "percentages" with Kotsay, Yuni, McGehee, Counsell, etc.? It seems like Roenicke only talks about stats when it backs up his point. And of course, it works here when I'm against it.
  15. Nows our chance to see what Green looks like at 2B.
  16. Amazing that he's got a 6 game hit streak with only 2 starts.
  17. And Furcal's pwnage of the Brewers continues.
  18. I know McGehee has played there and I wouldn't let him do it again. That being said, Green is more athletic than McGehee and has played 2B recently. Like I said, what makes Green so bad there? Have you seen him personally? I'm just wondering.
  19. I've never personally seen him play there. Is he that bad? I find it hard to believe that he couldn't at least be passable. What's his problem there, footwork, range?
  20. So Wilson should have started? Not like there are a lot of great options with Hairston needing a day off. CC has played more recently and will probably be on the playoff 25. The numbers probably didn't really mean a whole lot. I know. I would've started Counsell over Wilson too. But Haudricourt (maybe speculating but probably Roenicke's thinking as well) threw those numbers out there. And this isn't the first time career numbers have been used to justify a starting spot. I was just making the point that career numbers shouldn't matter with older players like Counsell, Kotsay, etc, especially if their recent stats have diminished. edit: I would've actually played Green. He played some 2B this year and came up as a 2B. Yuni and Prince would still be worse defensively than him.
  21. Counsell 0-3, again showing that career numbers against a certain pitcher shouldn't really matter when your skills have diminished as much as his.
  22. And if I ripped on McGehee you'd have also rushed to his defense. No, I'm ripping completely ridiculous posts that come out of emotion rather than common sense. McGehee walked his first AB. I don't think his approach is to hit early in the count because of who is hitting behind him. I think McGehee would be used to Yuni hitting behind him by now and would be a walk machine if that was actually that approach. In here it just seems like a travesty whenever a player like Yuni doesn't go 4-4. Every single at-bat gets 5-6 of the same post explaining that he's a terrible hitter. We know. Yet when he actually does do something good it's 5-6 of the same posts explaining he's still a terrible hitter or fielder. I've never seen anyone acknowledge he's made a good play defensively. He's had a handful tonight and has shown some range. When a Cubs announcer said he had decent range there were 5-6 people who laughed at the notion. Yet just last week Uecker was talking about Furcal's range and said Yuni also had decent range at SS. When he gets a good hit it's somehow still a bad thing. How depressing must it be to watch this team. 1/3 of your position players will make you angry regardless of the outcome. I can't even imagine some of you people watching the team when Bill Hall was playing. I generally like reading the in-game threads here, but literally the majority of the posts involve complaining about two players. It gets really old. So do posts like this. Also, Yuni does have awful range, how could you think otherwise? Because Uecker says so? Obviously he's not going to come out and bash a member of the team. And yes, people have actually given Yuni credit when he does something good. He's gotten credit on a few HRs, the double play ball, the ricochet play, and a number of others. Maybe you just haven't seen them. But when a player is overall as bad as he is, and we are supposedly "all-in", people are going to be upset when he does something bad.
  23. We scored 6, 9, and 3 in the last series against Kendrick, Halladay, and Lee. Obviously you can't expect that but I'm not ready to throw in the towel offensively against them.
