  1. From everything that's happened this year, this really does seem like the case. And its just infuriating that someone who thinks like this actually manages a major league team. There are all these stats/scouting reports/etc. at one's disposal now but Roenicke still sticks to the eye test. I just don't get it.
  2. As big of a tool that he seemed like from his facebook pictures (though to be fair, he was like 19-20), I was always a big fan of what he did on the field. I'm glad we got Marcum, as we wouldn't be where we are now without him, but it would be nice to have Lawrie manning the hot corner for the next 6 years. Although with Roenicke, he probably wouldn't even have been called up and/or played.
  3. When I link I usually highlight something and then click the insert hyperlink button (looks like a chain) and then paste the url there. If you just paste the url as a response, it usually won't work fully.
  4. Again, we aren't talking about what we expect to happen. Rather we're talking about what should happen. Resting McGehee/Yuni once a week down the stretch are not big changes. And if you honestly think that they shouldn't rest once a week (i.e. you think they are good enough that they should start every game), then I don't know what to tell you.
  5. I hope this game shows people not to give up on the team in the 4th inning when they're down a couple of runs.

  8. If Yuni misses any time, I wouldn't mind seeing Hairston at SS and Green at 2B. I know that would never happen and it'll be Counsell/Hairston but I can dream.
  9. I've got teeth marks from biting my tongue. edit: blue.
  10. Nice HR but Green should still get some starts.
  11. All started with Green. Please give him a start.
  12. That was a 300 foot blooper. And a nice approach to go the other way with that pitch. That ball is caught more often than not is my point.I refuse to believe that.

  14. So can will Green start getting more PT? Just looking at his swing and approach, you can tell he could do at least as well as McGehee/Yuni.
  15. But in this situation, Yuni with the bases loaded and 1 out wouldn't be that bad. He doesn't strike out a lot and puts the ball in play. If he hits one to the outfield, a run scores. edit: and of course he strikes out there.
  16. I would like to hear the Roenicke supporters explain why you would do that when all the stats are not on your side.
  17. You do not let McGehee swing away 3-0 when this guy just walked Prince and threw 3 straight balls. Just stupid.
  18. Hyperbole. Greinke's given up 2 runs or fewer in 9 of his last 10 starts, including games against CIN, STL, ARI, and COL. He lowered his ERA from 5.66 to 4.05 from beginning of July to end of August.Again you also are missing the point that we are making. I am not talking about runs. Its amazing how he can go from amazing to pedestrian to amazing again in the same inning. That is what is frustrating. What makes him pedestrian? That he gets an out, allows a couple of singles, and strikes out the next 2? I understand at times it looks like he gets hit hard. But this seems like the first start in a long time (other than PIT) where that's happened. And I think a lot of it at the beginning of the year was due to him basically not having a spring training.
  19. If the point is to make reactionary post in the in game thread every time a pitcher gives up a few singles then sure I don't get it. 2 runs in 4 innings is not infuriating, and one of those runs is largely attributable to a bad throw on a stolen base. No the point is that Greinke all year seems to space out in games and then snap out of it. Its like he cant pitch his best unless there is some pressure.Hyperbole. Greinke's given up 2 runs or fewer in 9 of his last 10 starts, including games against CIN, STL, ARI, and COL. He lowered his ERA from 5.66 to 4.05 from beginning of July to end of August.
  20. I understand everyone will be a little on edge until we clinch but some people are acting like the Brewers are suddenly the worst team in baseball. Yes it's been a frustrating week. Sometimes I don't understand how a team can go from just dominating to stinking up the joint in such a short span. But like I said, perspective. However, if they haven't won another game by next week, then I'll join everyone at the ledge.
  21. A few of those were pretty weakly hit. And this game isn't over. Let's stop with the sky is falling attitude and have some perspective.
  22. Wow, Carlos Lee is really bad defensively. Makes Prince look like JT Snow.
  23. I am 99% sure the replacement player has to be on the 40 man roster, and that you can only change the 40 man between series. It wouldn't make sense to penalize a team that didn't have anyone on the DL over Aug 31 and have them unable to replace an injured player on the roster. So Gamel could replace an injured guy mid-series since he's on the 40 man . But Gindl would have to wait until after the series ended, be added to the 40 man, then could be used as a replacement. That makes sense.
  24. I think we understand that it isn't going to happen. We're not debating whether it not it will but whether or not it should. And yes, it definitely should happen. Going off your logic, Hairston was brought into a starting role and once Weeks comes back, if he's benched, shouldn't he have some beef? Obviously the answer is no because Hairston is a professional. He understands that he was brought in to hold down the fort while Weeks recovered from injury. He understands that this team is trying to win and in doing so, Weeks should be starting once he's healthy. Similarly, Yuni/McGehee are also professionals. They should understand that a spot start once a week for other guys isn't a demotion. It's just meant to keep these other players fresh while also giving them some time to rest for the playoffs. I could maybe get behind your argument that handing the starting job to Green and Hairston/Wilson/Counsell (or even platooning) would throw off the clubhouse. However, and this has been beaten to death, one start a week SHOULDN'T be so big of a deal that they can't handle it and they freak out.
  25. You are wrong. I tried to explain it in my earlier post. It is for anyone who gets injured after the 8/31 deadline. If a team were to only have 25 available players for their playoff roster (the 25 man as of 8/31 with no DL, suspended, etc. players) and a player were to get hurt in September, they would be down to 24. MLB wouldn't make that team play with only its roster as of 8/31 because there would only be 24 guys left. So anybody who gets injured after the 8/31 deadline can be replaced with anyone that was in the organization as of 8/31. That is how David Price pitched in the playoffs a few years ago because Percival got hurt before the playoffs started. So yes we were agreeing with you that they brought Green up so they had the option for him to be on the playoff roster but we are disagreeing with you saying that it had to do with injury insurance. Injury insurance has basically nothing to do with it. edit: There may be a rule about having to replace a player who gets hurt mid-playoff series. Teams have to wait to bring in replacement players not on the playoff eligibility list until after the conclusion of a series. I'm not sure if this also applies to guys who made the eligibility list. In other words, if Kotsay got hurt in Game 2, Gamel couldn't replace him until the end of the series since he wasn't on the eligible list. However, Green might be able to mid-series (although I'm not completely sure).
