  1. This is how I feel. Yeah it's great that Kotsay hit a HR and had some nice games on the season. But over the course of the whole season, those 3 have been bad more often than not.
  2. Yuni must have like 30 IF popouts this year. I think Votto has like 10 in his career (over 2000 ABs).
  3. Weeks bailing Wolf out from more runs. Not a good start to this game.
  4. I should have said that Roenicke didn't actually say it but he was probably thinking it. He has brought up career numbers against a certain pitcher in the past so I'm sure that's his thinking again here. It's not like Hart needs a day off with the 2 off days we just had. I also hate using split stats against lefties/righties without mentioning the quality of those players. Would you start Schafer over Braun because Schafer is a lefty and Braun a righty? Of course not. I only think lefty/righty splits like that are useful when you are choosing between guys of similar talent. I'm not a big Hart fan by any means but he's way better than Kotsay at this point.
  5. Did Roenicke actually use that though? I see Haudicourt said it, but it's not attributed to Roenicke. If Roenicke did use that as a reason, I have a far more annoyingly simple one; Kotsay has 1 more hit off Arroyo than Hart, in 2 more ABs. I don't know if he actually said that this time or not. But he has said stuff like this in the past so I assume that's his thinking here, whether he says it or not. I understand guys need days off every once in awhile but we just came off 2 off days in 4 days. And some guys need starts to stay sharp but Kotsay is a vet and probably doesn't need to play much to stay sharp.
  6. I posted this in the Roenicke thread but thought I'd post it here as well: And again using that career .286 average against a pitcher to justify it, despite a diminishing skill set. Kotsay is 0-6 against Arroyo this year. But he did go 1-1 against him in 2008 and 3-6 in 2004!Seriously, when Roenicke uses crap stats like this, someone needs to have these stats ready to go. He may be 6-21 in his career against him but the last hit he got was 3 years ago and half the hits came 7 years ago.

  8. Good luck next year, Mat - hey, welcome to Brewerfan.net! Or Max Walla? On a serious note, I pretty much agree with the statement. I think this attitude stuff is overblown. Unless a guy's on the same scale as a Milton Bradley or Big Z, I don't mind it (as long as the talent is there). We even have 2 guys (Morgan/Fielder) who were recently named in top 15 "meanest" players in baseball. The guy has talent, give him a(n extended) shot next year at 1B and go from there.
  9. They tried to do a Montreal Screwjob at MITB with Cena/Punk but Cena didn't let it happen. I guess I wouldn't mind if it happened this time. Then again, I could easily see Punk winning, HHH stepping down, and Stephanie and/or Laurinaitis turning on HHH and taking over as COO. I could even see them saying that Punk was in on it all along and having him side with the new COO. That would be awful but that is kind of crap WWE does now.
  10. What's McGehee's OPS without the 3 HR game? I know we've said before that you can't just pick and choose games to eliminate but that one really sticks out as the anomaly. If he had hit a HR in 3 consecutive days there might be something to it but he hit 3 in one day and really hasn't done much outside of that. He hit pretty well for about half of August when he raised his avg from .230 to .243 but since then, it's gone back down to .233. His peak OPS on the season is .786, which came on April 25 and by July, he was in the .580s. He's gotten it up to .640 now but that is still atrocious. Anyone watching his approach vs. Green's should be able to tell that Green is the better option.
  11. Why does it seem like you are constantly trying to get people to berate Yuni? Leave him alone for 1 game.Yuni simply existing gets people to berate Yuni, regardless of how he does in the particular game. There's usually around 5-10 posts complaining about him before the game even starts, so I don't think it's all that unreasonable mentioning he played well when other people can't lay off him in a game where he actually does well. Geez, enough already. You're defending him, we get it. There will be posts everyday wanting him out of the lineup because chances are, he will go 0-4, not 2-4, and he will hurt the team with his defense. And I don't recall anyone saying anything negative about him tonight (at least in terms of his performance tonight). But you're almost trolling by saying someone will find a way to blame Yuni. We're all (mostly) educated baseball fans here. We know Yuni played pretty well tonight but that doesn't take away the fact that most games, he will be a negative out there.
  12. Depending on what Washington does this offseason, you could be talking about 2, or possibly all 3 being wild card contenders. By no means easy games. The Pirates don't scare me. Cincy is good but not someone to be scared of. As for the Nationals, they don't scare me now and I don't think you can bring what they might do in the offseason into the equation. Obviously any team can beat any other team on any given day but it's not something to be scared about. A road trip that would scare me would be BOS, NY, PHI.
  13. No but just because he had a good game, doesn't mean he's not a terrible player. Over the course of a season, he will be one of, if not the worst player on whatever team he's on. Just curious: do you boo him when you're at games like Cubs fans boo Soriano? Cubs fans legitimately get furious when he gets a hit, and then they get furious when he gets an out. Other than select Cubs fans I've never heard someone hate a player that plays for their own team so much. I'm wondering what you thought of Bill Hall... I couldn't stand him, but you must have lost your mind!I rarely boo the Brewers (though I have let out a few "you suck"s the last few games). But I think Yuni is terrible. Unfortunately, there's probably not a better everyday option (I would probably split time between Hairston/Yuni 60-40). As for Bill Hall, I never liked him. I always thought he was overrated and I said his big year was a fluke, which it was. I never understood the love for him, even if he did hit 35 HRs or whatever.
  14. No but just because he had a good game, doesn't mean he's not a terrible player. Over the course of a season, he will be one of, if not the worst player on whatever team he's on.
  15. I'm sick of Green only getting one PH appearance and then being taken out while McGehee plays every inning. He should've stayed in the game for McGehee. How is he supposed to stay sharp with 1 AB every game or two?
  16. I just don't understand how an offense can be so inconsistent. Everybody is trying to do too much. At times like this, I wonder what Sveum and the players are saying to each other. Just go out there, wait for a pitch you like, and swing nice and easy. Stop swinging at crap off the plate and breaking balls in the dirt.
  17. I would say McGehee is closer to below average/bad and Green is closer to average/slightly below average.
  18. Apparently McGehee going 1-4 is showing signs he's about to break out of his slump. At least according to Schroeder.
  19. When I saw him rounding 2nd, I thought he was gonna be dead at 3rd.
  20. Since he's only had about 4-5 really bad starts on the year, I think he'll be fine. Tonight should be no different. Just go out there and take care of business.
  21. Why? It's PIT, WSH, and CIN. It's not like going to BOS and NY this year. Then they come back against HOU and SD.
  22. The only time he wasn't "blocked" was in 09, when he hurt himself. You could argue that it was his fault that he hurt himself but injuries happen. After that, McGehee had a choke-hold on the position and hasn't let go since. And honestly, at this point, I would probably have an attitude problem as well if I did everything Gamel has in 4 years at AAA and I still haven't been called up. It might be a chicken/egg thing since Gamel is pissed because he hasn't been called up and the Brewers haven't called him up because Gamel has an attitude.
