  1. Just trying to provide an optimistic outlook besides saying "hey, there is plenty of baseball left". They are tied for the wild card, for the love of Juan Nieves! You don't ahve to look far to find somethibg to be optimistic about! Will they make the playoffs? I don't know. Let's find out.
  2. If anyone wants to say that the Brewers have a lot of deficiencies, you will get no disagreement from me. Great starting rotation. Decent but not great offense (with obvious flaws), and a below average defense and bullpen. It's not like they are some 100 win team. They are right around a 90 win team, right on the cusp of a playoff birth. There's plenty of time left for a few more ups and downs. That's baseball for you.
  3. Nope..runner was on first. Opps. My mistake. But laying an Egg in the biggest series of they year and looking like a Double A team while your doing it doesn't really help our confidence. I'm not saying you guys should be happy! Like I'm enjoying this. This sucks! I just would like to think that the average poster at Brewerfan.net is above saying "season over" when the Brewers are tied for the wild card. That's what those other fans do, right? As for the offense being "built wrong", all I know if that they've scored more runs than an average offense this year. Their brand of offense may be ugly to watch sometimes but it's winning them games, so I'll take it.
  4. How can you go a whole series without 1 hit with RISP? Cameron last night? Hey rluzinski good to see you too! All the number crunching you can do til your brains fall out doesn't help the Brewers OBP this year does it? Witty as usual.
  5. I really hope Cubs fans aren't reading this. If they are, this is what they are saying: "Hey Josh, take a look at this! Brewer fans on brewerfan.net are claiming their season is over, even though they are tied for the wildcard lead. Have they completely lost their minds!?" Weren't we just laughing at Cardinal fans for talking this way? At least they were 3 games back of the wild card lead after that series. We are better than this.
  6. The Brewers are a very good team. Good enough to have a very good shot at the wildcard and an outside chance at the division. That was true a week ago and it's still true today. "Your sports team is never as good or as bad as you think."
  7. My hatred for small, white shortstops continues to grow. This reminds me of the Red Sox series, except worse. The gap between the Brewers and Cubs is tremendous. They are more talented, period. They are more talented, sure. Using this series as some proof that it's a tremendous gap is pretty silly when they are still a few innings away from possibly leading the season series.
  8. So, Yost tried a hit and run with his pitcher not once, but twice? Making things happen!
  9. OMG, playoff teams never make mistakes! I guess the Cardinals are winning the division and the Phillies are winning the wild card. Wait, Pujols made three outs on the bases in one game earlier this year. The Reds?
  10. Feel free to keep standing there and looking stupid, Ned. It's a fitting appearance for you. Should he be hopping up and down and getting angry like you?
  11. As you can see, Dempster can walk the ball park. Overall this year, he's been pretty good: http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/517_P_season_full_2_20080729.png
  12. In at least a couple recent starts (Colorado and the Cubs), Sheets has hit 96 on several occasions. It seems like he might be overthrowing right now. Is it because of Sabathia? Who knows. All just speculation.
  13. The Brewers are 13 games over and currently hold the wildcard spot. Boo friggin' hoo. Baseball seasons have many peaks and valleys. All that really matters is where your team is, at present. So far, so good.
  14. 9 of his first 10 pitches in the 6th were fastballs. He also threw a couple curves to Soriano as well. Lot's O' fastballs for sure. Sheets was throwing 96 MPH regularly again. I just don't like it it. He should be in the 93-94 MPH range. I think he's been overthrowing since that Rockies start. I'll have to look closer at it.
  15. I couldn't find the poop down your leg picture. Or rather, I didn't want to. Here's what I wrote on the first page of this thread: "This is also a must win for this message board. Brewer fans won't have any idea what to do with themselves if the Brewers lose tonight. Probably make a post or 5 about how the Crew just doesn't seem to want it enough. Maybe accuse them of being intimidated by the Cubs" People like you are just so predictable. Because the Brewers can never just be outplayed by another team on a particular night. Too simple! We have to invent all these other, silly little reasons to explain the loss. Sheets wasn't intimidated the first 5 innings butt he sure was in the 6th! Brewer batters would have crushed the Cubs ace, had they not been shaking in their boots! Isn't it enough to just be mad that the Brewers were outplayed?
  16. To me, it's morally wrong for Brewer fans to sell their tickets to Cubs fans. Does anyone want to argue tripling the ticket prices, or have a better idea? What's really funny is that there's 25,000 Brewer fans that will SWEAR to you that they just couldn't make it to the game nor find another Brewer fan that wanted to go. Righttttt. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm not sure I would call it morally wrong to make money off something you own. I just find it hilarious that many of those people who got the tickets for the sole purpose of making a profit still want to proudly proclaim themselves good Brewer fans. You can't have it both ways.
  17. It's just one of a billion weird things about baseball. Just add a "Y" to any name and you have yourself a nickname!
  18. Is it really any surprise that we scored the run when all the pressure was off? Yeh, it probably had nothing to do with Zambrano exiting the game. Your theory makes a lot more sense. The Brewer batters obviously can't perform under pressure. Take that Cardinal series...
  19. I wish Brewer fans didn't have small market envy. I guess I don't need the national media salivating nightly over the Brewers. Enough of the media has taken notice that they write up nice articles on the Brewers fairly often. Good enough for me. Of course, I gave up on Baseball tonight about a decade ago, so it's probably easier for me to say that. And I suggest that if the Cubs are going to keep invading Miller Park, Mark A. should just triple ticket prices for those games. I'd rather the Brewers make the money than pretend Brewer fans.
  20. Well, the Brewers are going to have to take at least one of the next two to keep this from being a disasterous series. Even a pessimistic estimate puts the odds of the Brewers winning at least one at around 65%.
  21. 2005 wasn't lights out because some people are so blinded by their hatred of a player that they they are willing to bend reality to feed that contempt. It's scary how personal it can get get for some people. 99.99% of pitchers with a sub 2 ERA for a season are playing over their heads. Still, Turnbow had a great year by any measure you want to use. Great ERA and save %. Great secondary numbers. There was good reason to think that he would never get close to repeating those kind of numbers but for that year, he was unbelievable. I know: "He was never good! He may have fooled some of you but he never fooled me! I looked into his eyes and I saw the soul of a scared little girl!"
  22. This a must win for the fans, that's for sure. It's demoralizing to have to watch the Cubs fans celebrate at Miller Park. A win tonight and the next two games are gravy to them, as most Cubs fans would be satisfied with a split. It would make for a pretty tough situation on any Brewer fan attending the game on Wed. or Thur. This is also a must win for this message board. Brewer fans won't have any idea what to do with themselves if the Brewers lose tonight. Probably make a post or 5 about how the Crew just doesn't seem to want it enough. Maybe accuse them of being inimidated by the Cubs. The vent thread just might explode. They'll be a single person to blame the loss on, of course. If no player stands out, the ol' standby of Yost will work. My guess is that it will be a reliever, though. The usual suspects? But a must win for the team? Not even close. No matter what happens, they'll still be in the wildcard lead, with 55 games to go. Things are just starting to get interesting!
  23. I'm confident that the Brewers have around a 52% chance of winning today, just like I was confident that they had around a 60% chance yesterday. That's baseball for ya!
  24. If nothing else, Bannister is at least unique: http://www.kansascity.com/180/v-print/story/722106.html I love that article. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
