  1. This is a team that can't seem to keep their cool after a tough loss. What evidence of "uncoolness" have you seen? I've never seen anything that led me to believe that the team let's any loss affect their play going foward. Of course, I'd expect that from any professional team.
  2. I can't see them winning any games in Boston Can I have even odds on that? Even a terrible team (.400 win%) on the road against a great team (.600 win%) has a better than 50/50 shot of taking at least 1 game. You should never expect a sweep under any circumstances. But I think they'll perform much better in Pitts. than normal and they'll munch the Nationals. So I'm guessing 6-4. So, they'll get swept by Boston but go 6-1 over their next 7 games? Can I get even odds on that to?
  3. Send a message. No matter how good you've been if you stop strikes you're going down. Aren't they mutually exclusive. If you can't throw strikes you aren't "being good". The only message the Brewers are sending is that they don't think Stetter is the best option for the pen right now. Why they think Jackson is, though, is kind of confusing.
  4. Wow, I just watched one of their videos, "Age-Progression Technology Indicates Missing Child A Prostitute By Now". Holy production quality. They've come a long way from their newspaper articles with terrible (and funny) photoshopped pictures,
  5. I'm sure that will go down as teams realize that Kendall isn't the liability behind the plate that some thought he might be.
  6. No trade clause just means he gets to decide where he goes if traded. It doesn't mean he is 100% loyal to Milwaukee. Exactly. It just gives him more leverage to get that huge contract, if the Brewers want to trade him in the last year of his contract. If i were a ballplayer, I'd want it to.
  7. I'd say 5-5 is the most likely. 6-4 and we'll here that the Brewers are finally putting it all together. 4-6 and the Brewers have obviously given up. They just need to make sure they get one against Boston and I think it'll be OK.
  8. The way Cameron and Hall are hitting I would go with Counsell over either of them. The way Counsell has hit for his career... no thanks.
  9. Counsell over Cameron or Hall? Platoon advantage!!
  10. There's no way you even get a guy up until Loney's triple, and he threw 7 pitches after that. Nobody could have been ready that fast. In RBI Baseball, I could bring up my #2 starting pitcher right away!
  11. Ben obviously had nothing left. Shouldn't of kept out there until it was 6-0 His velocity was fine and his pitch count was low. He's one of the best pitchers in the league. Even with 2 on and 1 out and the game at 3-0, Sheets just needed to get Gary Bennett and the pitcher out to get out of the frame. I don't think it was unreasonable to let Sheets try and get out of it.
  12. Well, at least some of the Brewer faithful are booing Sheets. That'll learn em! This series could have been so much better.
  13. you kiddin me? ... I think those numbers are reasonably on the conservative side of life... and that is 8 years totaling 57.5M. 45M is wonderful! I made that, "why should we be excited" comment when it was buying out one free agent year and the money hadn't been disclosed. Now that it's 2 free agent years and $45 mil, I feel a lot better about it. Even if Braun turns out to be a guy with only a mediocre OBP and great power, he's priced well (so hard to consider "baseball inflation"). If he's thows up a .950 OPS every year, this will be a steal.
  14. Wow, 7 years instead of 6 but now it's all guaranteed. Why am I supposed to get excited about this?
  15. I've said it numerous times on this site that McClung is finally feeling healthy from his tommy john surgery a few years back, but thoughts like that simply get dismissed. It probably gets dismissed because it's just blind speculation. He's had great velocity the last few years so it's certainly not obvious that he's "finally feeling healthy". Do you know McClung or something? The fact remains that since McClung has been in the majors, he's walked too many batters and thasn't changed yet this year, either. I don't mean to suggest that he can't develop into a good reliever but right now, our best guess of future perfomance is probably more of the same.
  16. How many playoff appearances would the best manager in the universe have right now, had he been managing the Brewers instead of Yost? One at most? That's a big difference than zero but let's not act like Yost had any reasonable chance of making the playoffs prior to that. Team Talent >>>>> Manager On a side note, this obsession with getting Yost is kind of creepy. I don't even like the guy but I find myself defending him more and more. I will give you the rluzinski guarantee that his eventual replacement will make the same kind of questionable moves that Yost does and will eventually be fired just like Yost will. Yada, yada, yada. On and on. Heads must role.
  17. Wow its like Mota is the crappy pitcher he was the last two years or something But he had like 10 great innings or something!
  18. I didn't agree with it, but he certainly got into his head and broke his rhythm OBVIOUSLY. No question at all! Of course!
  19. Yeh, Counsell, Kapler, Kendall. What a joke.
  20. Bill, just anyone give a crap but you that Parra isn't going to record a win on this game? EDIT: I guess I was wrong.
  21. This had to get interesting, of course. All brewer fans must have heartburn after every game.
  22. Mota and his darn walks this year.
  23. Is Shouse staying out there to face the lefty. I guess, since Yost is the "closer", he can't?
  24. Mota has to face the bottom of the order, so as long as he doesn't start walking everyone (knock on wood), I like out chances.
  25. The choice was Parra vs Gwynn though OK, so a .150 batter vs a .250 batter (rough estimated, obviously)? I'll take the 10% better chance of a hit (not even mentioning a walk) over 1 extra IP from an average pitcher ( at least right now) who's going to do worse than average because the batters have already seen him a few times. Rluz...Parra has 2 of our 4 rbis...He had 80 pitches, and he was dealing....We were up 4-1..I myself, agree with Yosts move...If noone scored in the 7th, more people, not necessarily you, would have agreed with it too The fact that an infield groundball found a hole should play a part in the decision making process? And the fact that Parra was "dealing" isn't worth much if anything. Just like a pitcher who gets roughed up early performs just as well as expected last in the inning. It's not predictive (check "The Book". Finally, my opinion had nothing to do with the 7th, as Parra didn't pitch particularly bad anyway. My opinion is based on sabermetric studies and common sense that tells you how silly it is to do what Yost did. Like I said, most managers would do it, so I'm not picking on Yost. Just the fact that baseball thinks they figured everything out 50 years ago drives me nuts. Every other sport is happy to admit that they are still learning.
