  1. Blah, blah, blah, no offense RLuzinski...I enjoy reading what you write, but you sound like the a-typical Rickie Weeks apologist. How could I ever take offense to a comment that starts with, "Blah, blah, blah"? The bottom line is he will never be the player we think he could be. Is it possible to have a post about Weeks without someone venting about his unrealized potential? You call me an apologist, which sounds so damn silly to me, considering I don't really get hung up about expectations to begin with. All I judge is what he's done as a professional hitter. So, let's talk about Weeks' recent slump in this thread and you can start a new thread where you blast Weeks for not living up to your expectations, OK?
  2. It seems like he's just swinging at everything but part of the problem could be that he's had some pretty inconsistent playing time the last couple of months. Who really knows, though. It's hard to get much out of 19 AB. He could go 3 for 4 with a walk tonight.
  3. In his last start, Vargas gave up 4 earned runs in 5 IP vs. Houston but since the teams wins, so it's a good start. The start before, he gives up 4 earned runs in 5 IP vs. San Fran but gets the win, so it's a very good start. Yesterday, Bush gives up 4 earned runs (including a blown "safe" call at home) in 6 IP yesterday and gets the loss, so he did bad. In Bush's only loss in June, he once again gives up 4 ER in 6 IP but the offense never gets going, so it's another bad start. In summary: 4 ER in 5 IP + Run Support = Good Outing 4 ER in 6 IP + No Run Support = Bad outing
  4. He was upset at being sent down and handled it poorly. Not sure why I should wish bad things to happen to him. I'm glad than Melvin held out until he could get something reasonable in return.
  5. I'd for Prince to put on a show, but haven't hitters gone to the derby in past years and then had a lousy second half? Some have gone on to do bad, good and average.
  6. Agreed Ender. I hope Prince participates and puts on a show.
  7. The HD channels didn't look quite right to me with the HDMI. The colors looked over-saturated. For Instance, looking at the hundreds of little penguins on Planet Earth, I could make them out with component but they looked blotchy with HDMI. There was also a delay when I switched channels with HDMI. I wanted to use HDMI so i could free up a component conenction for my wii but I just gave up and switch the connections when I need to. very annoying. As for the aux connections, I read that they are often disabled. Not sure if it can be reversed.
  8. Emotionally, I would have liked this series but it's hard to get too worked up about the Cubs gaining 1 game on the Brewers in 3 days.
  9. Counsell has been red-hot lately. Not sure why he's not a legitimate option currently. I understand why Yost picked him. I'd argue that Counsell is still just Counsell. Not like it's going to matter for this game.
  10. Wow. Counsell is Ned's first choice off the bench? Rickie is absolutely brutal right now. I think it may be time to give him some rest again, not looking good at all. Unless he's hurting again, I wouldn't think they way to bust out of a slump is by riding the pine.
  11. Wow, did Hart fly to that ball. I can't imagine another corner outfielder covering that much ground.
  12. Is it a given that Jenkins would have scored had he run? It really wasn't that slow of a roller. Maybe the Cubs wouldn't have even tried to cut him down with a 4 run lead?
  13. Here comes the comeback!? Man. If the Brewers are only able to win 1 game in this series, I'm going to be pretty disappointed. I just really just wanted the Brewers not to be swept. I'd obviously prefer the they win the series but the Cubs aren't going to make up much ground, at least.
  14. "On pace" refers to the extrapolated record (assuming the Brewers will play 14 games over the second half as well).
  15. In his career, Sheets has 8 losses in games he gave up 0 or 1 earned runs. He has 20 losses giving up 2 or less earned runs. That is all.
  16. I really, really doubt any of that is true but you just got me to sign up for baseball-reference's PI subscription to find out. I'll let you know.
  17. When you have a 10-3 overall record, any split you think of is probably going to have a pretty good win-loss record associated with it. For pretty much the first time in his career, Ben Sheets is finally getting run support. For some reason, that really seems to help his win-loss record.
  18. Is there an NL Central team Brewer fans don't have an unshakable fear of? The Reds? I guess I could care less about past failures. What matters to me is the talent this team has right now, relative to the rest of the league, right now. 2002 isn't going to help the Pirates this year.
  19. 9 run lead in the 9th. Can I relax now? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. OK, why is Yost keeping Sheets in there with 108 pitches? I'm sure he'll be fine but what about the big picture? If all goes well, Sheets will have more IP this year than in any other.
  21. why sheets in the 7th? because he grooved pitches for 2 runs last inning? I understand he's probably upset, but he's at 100 pitches. You make it sound like he was getting destroyed. He gave up 2 ground ball singles and had a mistake pitch get tagged.
  22. I'd be a lot more confident about this early lead if Sheets was pitching like Sheets right now. Hopefully he can start hitting his spots with his curve this up coming inning. As I say that, the Brewers extend the lead to 6 runs. You'd think even "bad Sheets" can hold that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. You know bugs me? People who constantly predict something bad is going to happen to the Brewers and when it finally does, pats themselves on the back like they are Nostradamus.
  24. Knowing that Sheets pitches on Saturday made this loss a heck of a lot easier to stomach. All I really wanted was at least one win this series and I feel like there's a good chance of getting it in a few hours.
  25. I should have phrased that better. What I meant was, as long as you're getting outs, it doesn't matter how you get them. If Sheets was a true 3.0 ERA pitcher while striking out almost a batter an inning, his ERA will almost certainly suffer if his K rate slips. There's no real way around that. Of course, there's no reason to believe that Sheets can't get his K rate back up.
