  1. Individual performance only matters when you are a stat head. I will take team performance any day over indivdual success. And I think it has been proven that they don't go hand in hand Proven when? You can put everyone's individual stats in a computer and it will spit out a team's record pretty close. it's going to be off some, obviously, since it's just a model but still. It seems to me that heart is always attributed to lucky wins. Like washington had a lot of heart when they had a great record and now they lost their heart. Where did their heart go? A team wins they have heart. A team loses, they have no heart. Heart = Chemistry = winning.
  2. I don't get it. Everybody seems to be saying Miller is going to catch. Is Moeller hurt? Since when does Moeller not catch Sheets? Miller caught Sheets last time because Moeller played the day before. Suprisingly Sheets did just fine NOT having Moeller call his stupid high fastball on 40% of the pitches. Seriously Moeller, just because you can't lay off the high fastball doesn't mean the rest of the league will chase over and OVER again.
  3. but do those numbers produce World Series titles (the ultimate goal). His OPS doesn't score runs because he's an idiot? How exactly does that work?
  4. This Barry Neffield fella you speak of sounds like a in a million kinda guy. I suspect most guys give it a good effort because it's in their best interest to do so.
  5. I think technique can be used to describe heart when talking about changing your technique and working hard to better yourself through practice and preperation You got me there. If heart is part "working hard to improve yourself" then I would agree that it's important. I just don't see it helping on a game by game basis, for the most part. Heart doesn't make you hit the ball harder or more often in clutch moments. A batter has nothing to rely on in those situations but their abilities and a cool head.
  6. Technique is "heart"? So Weeks isn't showing heart when he screws up his footwork on a double play? Now I'm really confused.
  7. Oh and please inform us all on who exactly the mysterious "Replacement Player" is Why he's 80% of an average guy of course... so like 5-7 and 120 lbs. Eckstein! Seriously, a seperate forum sureeee would be nice. Atleast we wouldn't waste everyone's time posting the same thing over and over again. We could just link to a thread. It's nice to have Brewer-centric SABR posts. Like showing Lee's RBI's are mostly a function of opportunity, for instance. It would be nice having one pinned thread with just links to SABR-centric websites, like the one's above.
  8. Well, we got the separate "Statistical Analysis" thread. Hopefully we can develop it into a great resource for not only general SABR information, but hopefully a nice source of Brewer related statistical analysis as well. There's some great links here already; Let's add some more. Eventually we'll clean this thread up and have everything nice and organized.
  9. I know you guys are waiting with anticipation for this, so: Rluz's Prediction ------------------- Brewers Sweep 20% Brewers win 2 43% Brewers Win 1 30% Brewers Swept 7% With Sheets going tonight, I would hope our chances are considerably better than what the above numbers indicate. EDIT: Those numbers DID have to be flipped http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. We are going to see alot of fastball from Sheets tonight. Maybe he should dust off that changeup a bit too.
  11. Am I the only one who can't stop staring at Hart's elbow? Make it stop! -
  12. it sucks we have so much talent................good problem to have tho Wierd situation to be in. I guess it comes to this; is Hart REALLY a CF? My guess would be no, or else you'd think they would have put him there right away, where his stick would be REALLY good.
  13. I'm thinking more and more than the Crew should trade Lee this off season and give LF to Hart. Shouldn't we be able to get a young, good major league ready starting pitcher for Lee? How about Lee AND Overbay? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. That was quick... game over! Man, they need to do well in CO http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Hart raised his career OPS from .000 to 1.000 on one swing http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. HART! You think Magruder was teh first one out to congratulate him? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Has Hart even had to make a play in CF yet?
  17. Wait, Hall bluffed home and then WENT home and scored? Me confused. EDIT: AHHH, pay before. Got ya. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. There's that insurance run. Now I don't need to bite my fingers off with T-Bow trying to close out a 1 run lead.
  19. I guess it was too much to ask for a run scoring dp. Come on Jenkins.
  20. I think Yost should call for Lee and Jenkins to bunt too!
  21. That's right Overbay, swing away! Yost should call for a suicide squeeze with Lee. That'll make him feel relevant then.
  22. WHY is Overbay trying to bunt? Yost is just managing scared now. BOOOO!
  23. Am I the only one who thinks having the guy with the worst OBP on the team SHOULDN'T be batting second? I know our options are very limited but... Come on, no hit and runs, no sacrificing... just get a darn hit! EDIT: Error works too http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. I'm really glad we pulled Davis for **COUGH** Magruder. Worked out nicely.
  25. $100,000 JDLR walks the first guy http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif PROVE ME WRONG!
