  1. A couple more boms and it might a big enough blowout to let Parra pitch?
  2. A tired arm could force Hoffman to throw harder to get the same velocity, at the expense of accuracy. I don't think that's the case here. It's possible his location is just off right now. Happens to every pitcher but most don't have BP fastball velocity. I wonder what old, proven closer Melvin signs next year?
  3. Ether Escobar should get 5 starts a week or he should be in AAA.
  4. See, and I saw the fire in the Brewer's eyes last night. Mcgehee went up there sensing the fear in that pitcher's eyes and he took advantage of it. It was that kind of never-give-up attitude that propeled them to victory! Frankly, that had to have been Macha's doing.
  5. The Brewers could replace Fielder with some 27 year old AAA first basemen but upgrade three other positions and possibly be a better team for it. The point is, there are many different ways to upgrade an 81-84 win team. The idea that there is no other way the Brewers could buy those wins is just false.
  6. And I bet the Brewers looked like a team that knew they were going to win... because they were. Correlation, not causation.
  7. Thode awards mean little. All that matters is future expected production. Age is everything in this case. The Phillies screwed up.
  8. The last week of Brewer baseball has been really odd. Not too many nail biters! Suppan!!!!!!!
  9. Do you want to start Edmonds in CF vs a LHP?Sorry, I didn't mean he should be a late inning replacement. Take advantage of his great defense but hide is bat at the bottom of the order. Batting him second is embarrassing, IMO.
  10. It's not like we are the Yankees and there are limited positions to upgrade. The Brewers have 3 below average starting pitchers and maybe 5 average or below position players. The idea that the Brewers NEED a 5 win player simply can't be defended. I love the big guy but if he wants 5/$125, no thanks.
  11. How much longer before Macha realizes that Gomez is a DEFENSIVE specialist?
  12. So, I went to Saturday and Sunday's game and I go Tuesday and Wednesday. If they lose Tuesday... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. GREAT call by blue. The ball beat Zaun by a MILE but the catcher just completely screwed that up. WOW.
  14. For $25 mil a year, they can get a couple players who project to be at least 5 games over .500. There are plenty of other free agents and plenty of areas that can be improved. This extension is going to look terrible in a few years.
  15. He's certainly not hitting to his potential but he entered the game with a .383 OBP. I'd be afraid to see what kind of words you guys would use if he had a .360 OBP. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. Like I said, I guess I don't know what it exactly means to look defeated, nor how it exactly contributes to losing in the first place. I can appreciate that fans don't like to see it, however.
  17. Who specifically was wearing the look of defeat? I'd like to see what that looks like exactly. And are you sure they weren't wearing the look of defeat after..... failing at something? Because I've seen Pujols look pretty defeated after actually being defeated. I'm going to start saving all my DVRs, so people can show me the look of apathy and defeat that supposedly contributed to the defeat. Call me a sceptic but I think most of this stuff is just made up after the fact. Had the Brewers come back to win Saturday's game, they would have been lauded for having that never-give-up additude. Man, you could see it in their eyes... they were going to find a way!
  18. Flat and lethargic? Could you you picture a fired up team getting their butts handed to them? Should they be high fiving after groundouts? Hell, when players get excited for doing something good while they are getting blown up, fans will often criticise that as well. Teams get fired up when they play good, not the other way around. Isn't that obvious?
  19. The best championship strategy I've seen is to spend more money than the competition. Unless you are clueless (Mets, Cubs, Astros), it will get you in the playoffs pretty often. We can make a midseason move from Macha to Randolf but I don't see that translating into more wins. Randolf will just make, new silly decisions. If Melvin/Macha make a midseason move, it will just be to placate the blood thirsty fans.
  20. Macha does a lot of things that annoy me too, and there is no reason to go into them. But, games like this happened under Yost too. It makes me wonder about the players when you see an entire series against a rival played like this. What sort of manager is it going to take to get them to play smart, and consistent. These kind of games happen in the sport of baseball. I was there and it sucked but I don't understand always having to blame someone. The last guy I was blaming was macha, though. The PLAYERS got their butts handed to them this series. It happens.
