  1. Are these the "productive outs" we keep hearing about? I don't want productive outs; I want productive runs! Edit: just as I'm typing this, we get a run!
  2. I want to see runs, now. Lots of runs. Hopefully it'll start with Bill Hall.
  3. What happened to Doug Davis improving? This is frustrating. We get an early lead, for once, and Davis comes in to throw nothing but balls.
  4. Best moment of the broadcast was when a pinch hitter came in who was making his ML debut at age 33. Powell said, "It took him 33 years to make it to the majors." Dude flies out. "and a whole lot shorter time to make it back to the bench."
  5. This is the funniest thing to ever happen in baseball. I am absolutely stunned, and I can't stop laughing.
  6. Well, they just picked up a run and now have their very own PH-extraordinaire at the plate with a 3-1... Edit: and he strikes out. It's been a great pitching performance in one aspect (hits), but don't forget, dude gave up six walks, including four in the first to give up a run.
  7. The blue is less fun, but it helps prevent people getting into fights when someone is trying to be tongue-in-cheek and the other takes it as an insult.
  8. I read about Dempster's failure later on that night. It brings joy to my heart. Now, the Pujols news just strikes me with awe. That's not a human being. He has to be some sort of baseball cyborg from the future, or something.
  9. It's brewcrewtv@aol.com. I had to go to Daron's blog linked from the Brewers website to find it. For future reference.
  10. I was worried that the inning was going to end with Carlos Lee at the plate. It's good that Lee proved me wrong, and that Fielder hit a pretty, pretty double. Hopefully Eveland keeps pitching well and the Brewers keep showing up at the plate.
  11. In other news, the Cubs are leading the Marlins 3-0, Michael Barrett with a triple (later scoring) and a home run. When is this joker going to get his suspension?
  12. Watching on FSN, you could clearly hear Ned drop the F-bomb in the replay, then the field mic immediately goes quiet.
  13. I, on the other hand, hope that I do have to eat my words. That's the nice thing about saying negative stuff - you feel good when you're completely wrong. For example, were I to say, "I hate Geoff Jenkins and want him to die because he strikes out 1/3 of the time and I know he'll strike out in every at-bat tonight," and then Jenkins were to go 4-4 with a home run, a double and six RBIs, I would be overjoyed about being wrong. (For the record, I don't hate Geoff Jenkins. I like him quite a bit, and I don't even want the players I hate to die.)
  14. What is the key to this game? I'm going to go out on a limb here (har-har) and say that we're going to have to light up the Reds' staff. It's time to go on a scoring binge because that's always a good idea against the Reds' pitching. I also don't see Eveland pitching very well. If he can go six innings and give up five runs or fewer, I'll be singing his praises come tomorrow. Then, as long as Demaria and Lehr don't come in (and Lehr getting DFA'd means he can't - we're halfway there!), we have a good chance to clean up when the Cincy pen comes in.
  15. I never start game threads. I just crash 'em. ... Ok, that was really bad. After a good homestand, it'd be nice to pick up some road wins.
  16. I would be very angry if Billy Hall were to replace JJ Hardy as the team's long-term shortstop. First, Bill Hall has two years' experience on Hardy, which shows at the plate. Hardy is also a considerably better defender. If you give Hardy another year to find his way at the plate, he could put up numbers close to what Hall's doing. I think Hall is a great fit for the Brewers at 3B. Bill Hall does have holes in his swing, he has trouble hitting righties, and he strikes out a lot. He's not perfect.
  17. This is frustrating, and leaving Davis in for the eighth was a mistake, but I'm not calling for Yost's head yet. There were other mistakes - Bill Hall pops up a home run pitch with two in scoring position, and Lee doesn't even try to make a play of it. Lee's failure to get that pop-up into shallow left, consistent failure to get runners in scoring position in... There's more to this than just leaving Davis in too long. After all, Latin Cappy did serve up a meatball to Batista.
  18. On that note, it was nice to see that the rally was started by probably the two most-maligned position players on the team, Brady "can't buy a hit" Clark and Bad Chad Moeller. Just goes to show that everybody's fighting and trying to do their part.
  19. As to Lehr getting props for finally pitching well: Looking at his splits, he really only had two bad outings, and they're responsible for the majority of his ERA. There are only four outings where he surrendered more than one hit and walk. So, except for two appearances, he's been pretty sharp. Edit: walk, not run.
  20. Ballgame! I was hoping to see Turnbow, myself. Glad he got the call, and the save. I believe we are now tied for third place in the NL Central.
  21. Brady Clark gets on base with a single. He is tearing it up right now. I hope this means we have 2005 Brady on our hands.
  22. Fielder gets Nunez on the force at second. I'm loving this kid's defense. He's really solid out there. This is the fourth straight game for Brian's House. Huh. I'd leave Kolb in, but he is facing a hot lefty.
  23. Two favorites from the Phillies forum After Bad Chad's HR, nice to see some reality: This one just makes me laugh:
  24. Gabe Gross being patient. I love it. Kid's over 100 pitches, one out, top of the order coming up. Coaching visit to the mound. Pulled him. This inning looks a lot like last night's sixth. In other news, the Pirates close to within one, now in the top of the ninth.
