  1. I think we all knew that this was coming, but it still is sad. I guess it goes to the bigger point to not put professional athletes on a pedestal. We all as humans have our vices in one way or another, and when you add money, fame, and pressure to it, the chance for something like this happening increases. Vick threw away an opportunity to impact (potentially) the NFL. It's really a sad day for sports fans. Also, I think that there should be some serious consequences from Goodell regarding this. I don't know about a lifetime ban from football or an indefinite suspension or what, but it has to be serious. Marty Schottenheimer, in an interview on ESPN this morning said he wouldn't give Vick a second chance because, in his mind, it's equal to murder. I'm not sure if I'd go that far, but I'd go pretty close.
  2. Yup. It's rock bottom. The craptacular errorfest where the one offensive bright spot was Hardy hitting a homerun from the 8th spot, where he should be, and the lack of taking pitches and swinging at the first pitch almost every at bat is totally rock bottom.
  3. Yes. They're still in first...barely. Honestly, I'm hoping it's rock bottom. The last few weeks have been embarassing and I hope that professional pride kicks in, if nothing else and they start playing halfway decent. That's all I expect at this point. I'm now to the point where all I want is for them to be in games, not winning them. Sad.
  4. Ted Simmons for manager?
  5. FTJ, I believe you are correct, or at least it sure feels like it. For as much as there's a church and/or a bar on every block here in Wisconsin, there's about a strip club on every block in Portland. Not that I frequented them, but you notice after a while.
  6. I have a $50 gift certificate that my beautiful wife got me as a Christmas present for tickets. I was going to take a couple of buddies this week, as the beautiful wife is out of town, but it just didn't work. I was STUNNED to see SRO tickets for $15. I love my Brewers, but I'll gladly spend that $15 on food and sit in the comfort of my living room to watch the game.
  7. My wife has the DVR set to record it and it's one of the few shows that she records that I'll watch with her. That and Burn Notice are good shows.
  8. Whenever the Rockies stop scoring runs, the Brewers will be able to start a long winning streak like they did after they were no-hit....any takers?
  9. Actually, the Max (light rail) isn't bad at all to get downtown. I took it a few times to go to see some Beavers baseball and hang out downtown once in a while.
  10. I too, lived in Portland. Very liberal, and just remember, in Oregon, you legally cannot fill up your gas tank. Craziness, I know, but that's the law. The first time I stopped for gas when I moved, I got out and was about to start filling up and about got knocked over by the guy telling me I can't fill up my gas tank. I ended up going over the river to Vancouver and filling up. If you want to know anything more about Portland PM me.
  11. Off the top of my head, I know homers is McGwire with 49 in 1987. Don't know about RBI. Yeah, my brain isn't working...could be the last week of 5 hours of sleep a night and being around teenagers. I would think McGwire in 87 would be homers. Doubt that Braun could get 50, but he's Ryan Braun, so anything's possible.
  12. There definitely is a great nucleus coming together of good young hitters. When you look at Hart, Hardy, Braun, Fielder, Hall, Weeks, that's a great young group of talent that is under Brewer control for a while. You add in a couple of key free agents, maybe one of the young catchers pans out, and you've good a good run of 5-7 years like the Twins had back in the 90's. I tell ya, I was a freshman in college in '96 when the Packers won the Super Bowl and I was excited, but I wasn't that big into football at the time. I've always been a baseball fan and a Brewer fan at that, and this ride is SOOOOOO fun! I can't wait to see where things go next!
  13. Yes he can he is on Kansas City Royals. I forgot about that! That's right. So, yes he can. Now we just have to find another Bill Hall who pitches as well and the other question is answered.
  14. Here's a question, because I'm lazy. What is the biggest number of homers and RBI a rookie has put up? Is it Pujols?
  15. Only 4 words need be said about one Ryan Braun Rookie of the Year Can Ryan Braun pitch? I have a mancrush Take your pick, because all 3 work. He's amazing!
  16. Oh well...it was inevitable, I guess. At least A-Rod, Pujols and a few others have shots of breaking the record as long as they stay healthy. I guess my thing with Bonds is more than whether or not he's clean or not, but that the guy is a total jerk! He doesn't care about anyone else! Total opposite of Hammerin' Hank.
  17. Purple? My wife is a youth director and that's what she's come up to keep the boys away from the girls (and vice-versa). No purpling. Blue plus pink equals purple. That's my guess.
  18. Do it....just don't let it turn into stalking.
  19. For those of us who don't have XM?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. When he first started, I seriously thought for the longest time his name was the "Big Eunuch", so I've called him that ever since. He doesn't excite me too much, and I go either way on him. I was listening last night as he was reading the e-mails and it was just annoying. But, what do you do other than turn the radio off?
  21. We gotta get some runs soon! Come on boys! Edit: And Saarloos is in...that should help!
  22. A team of Bill Halls and Ryan Brauns would be unstoppable!
  23. Sounds like they are hitting the ball well...just right at people.
