  1. I wonder if there's any significance to the fact that Attanasio, Melvin and Ash are now all scheduled to be in Washington tomorrow for the game? Is a change afoot?
  2. I believe the proper phrase for this is "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic."
  3. I wish I had found Brewerfan.net before 2005; wouldn't have had to throw away all those tickets.
  4. Yeah, I can't tell you how many times I threw tickets away in September and even late August, with the exception of 2001 and last year. I couldn't get clients, family or friends to take them. It's like throwing $120 in the trash can.
  5. I am seriously reconsidering my season tickets, which I have had in some form since 1993, with full season packages since 1996. It's simple really...the losing is getting to me. I will never stop being a Brewers fan and I don't consider myself a "bandwagon" fan in terms of team support, but I'm personally going to have a hard time spending tens of thousands of dollars more in season tickets until this is actually a winning organization. I do believe the owner is committed to that end, but I'm at the point where I want to see results, not promises and potential. How the remainder of this season plays out will be very important in my decision.
  6. That about sums it up for me so far.
  7. So let's see...shoddy defense, disappearing offense, blown save. The Brewers unholy trinity.
  8. Nothing to add, my daughter just wanted to see me on Brewerfan.net (or Brewerfreak.net as she refers to it).
  9. I'll be there with a buddy on Friday and Saturday. Not sure where we're sitting yet.
  10. Does Yost have any options left? Can't we just send Yost down to Nashville and call up Kremblas until Ned works out the kinks in his managing?
  11. I would then counter with "what has Ned Yost done right during this current skid?" I don't just mean that in a snarky sort of way either. I know we had this thread at some point last season about the role/impact of a manager. I still don't know how to accurately rate a manager. Right now, I'm mainly rating W/L.
  12. They might respect him for not throwing them under the bus to the media and public, I don't really recall any player or coach specific quotes regarding that topic. I will agree Yost has been viewed as a "players manager," whatever that may mean to different people. My suspicion is sneaking based on more than just generic quotes players give to the press; I think last year's dugout blowup and the numerous coaching changes are clues to a deeper disturbance in the Force.
  13. I think/hope it's sooner rather than latter as I have this sneaking suspicion that Yost garners little respect in the clubhouse among many players and coaches. While I'm currently in a self-imposed Brewers exile for a while, I admit I check in a few times a day with the faint hope of seeing this thread title: "[Designated Yost Thread] Is Yost stifling this team? EDIT: Yost Fired!"
  14. This is a question that has been on my mind since the beginning of the season: are the Milwaukee Brewers a good baseball team? Not "should be" or "potentially," but actually a good team right now. In my mind, the short answer is no. I don't believe they've done anything to prove themselves as a good team yet. A number of good players, yes; but as a team they've been only average. They did not assure themselves of even a winning season in 2007 until the second to last game. In the last 162 games, their record is 79-83. Expectations (mine included) were that this would be a good team in 2008. Yes, it's only May 4th, and yes, they're 16-14; but I have yet to see anything that shows me the Brewers are still anything but an average team. Offense, pitching, defense....nothing has been impressive. If this group (players, manager and management) had a good track record, I could chalk it up to a choppy start. But they don't and I can't. To me, the real question is, will they become a good team with the current structure (players, manager, management) in place?
  15. Not sure why, but I feel strangely sanguine after this news. And this little scene from Ghostbusters keeps playing in my head: Dr. Peter Venkman: For whatever reasons, Ray, call it... fate, call it luck, call it karma, I believe everything happens for a reason. I believe that we were destined to get thrown outta this dump. Dr. Raymond Stantz: For what purpose? Dr. Peter Venkman: To go into business for ourselves. [Takes a swig of schnapps] Dr. Raymond Stantz: This ecto-containment unit that Spengler and I talked about is going to take a load of bread to capitalize. Where are we going to get the money? Dr. Peter Venkman: [Takes another swig] I don't know, Ray. I don't know. I feel like Venkman. I have no idea what we're gonna do, but I'm stupidly confident. Now, excuse me while I go take another swig...
  16. Isn't this our 5th extra inning game? And haven't we scored in the 10th inning in each of those game? If so, that's cool.
  17. See, I'm just the exact opposite. My heart says it's nothing, but my brain is fearing the worst.
  18. Goodwill has a promotion coming up a some of their stores (Waukesha, West Allis, West Bend, Racine). If you spend $25 you get two free tickets to the 5/28 game.
  19. With all the attention paid to Jackie Robinson on the 61st anniversary of breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball, I'd like also pay tribute to the overlooked Larry Doby, who was the first black player in the American League, arriving in Cleveland less than three months after Robinson debuted in Brooklyn. Doby suffered the same injustices and indignities as Robinson but is an afterthought as far as media coverage and support for his role in integrating baseball. Through it all he also forged a Hall of Fame career. Well, it ain't much, but it's all I got; so here's to you, Larry Doby.
  20. Maybe Billy and Corey should go to Yost and ask to switch.
  21. FYI, Soriano just left the Cubs game with an injury...looked like his ankle area after doing his little hop following a routine catch.
  22. Good point, have an HDTV, or Superfan is really kind of a waste http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
