  1. Well, this looks like Pedro's last giveaway of 2008... it's a day game, but for those of you with schedule flexibility, I've got four Club Level Section 323, 1st row with a parking pass. I'll do a random drawing of any interested parties tomorrow morning.
  2. They're yours. I'll send you a PM.
  3. I find myself with a couple extra very nice field level tickets for tomorrow afternoon's game. If you can use, please respond.
  4. As I have to tell kids sometimes when they do something wrong: Just because nothing bad happened, doesn't make your actions right. This is what I feel like saying to Yost, regarding Gagne in the 8th.
  5. Savoy Room is still kicking, although I haven't been there in a couple months. It was rumored to have closed after Sally Papia died, but ownership kept it going. We knew/know a number of the waitresses, so I've probably met your friend. Know the managers a bit also. Love to hear your stories. We've been going there since it was "Snugs" back in the 1980s.
  6. We've got a condo in the French Quarter and are supposed to be there in two weeks. We were there last (except for a brief business trip) two weeks before Katrina hit. I am so looking forward to going back; while there has always been much of New Orleans that I don't care for (Bourbon Street for one), I've been drawn to the history, music, food and people since I first visited in 1990. Sitting here at one in the morning tracking the storm is sadly reminiscent of 2005...I pray it doesn't have the same impact.
  7. If I'm going steak (which I do quite a bit) I'm going Carnevor. Eddie Martini's used to top this list for me, but Carnevor holds that spot now. Simply the best steaks I've had, you can bring in your own wine (another advantage over Martini's), and wonderful atmosphere and servers. We've brought numerous clients who visit steak houses all across the country, and each and every one has raved about Carnevor. Pizza: I've become a Zaffiro's convert; how did I ignore it all these years? Thin crust and a PBR...heaven. Savoy Room for speidini. And I still love a Solly's butter burger. Man, I'm getting hungry....
  8. I don't recall exactly, but it seems like about $100 more total than last year.
  9. Here's the game prices for the Club Level: One-Game Tiebreaker: $26 per ticket Division: $60 per ticket NLCS: $90 per ticket World Series: $230 per ticket That includes (per the invoice) a $360 total series savings off gate price for my four season tickets, but no indication is given how much off what games.
  10. Jeff's Sportscards in Brookfield. Nicely framed and matted, just more than I wanted to spend.
  11. Thanks, BHF. I went with a signed/framed picture since the program was already spoken for. Yours would have have saved me much $$....I gotta check these threads more often.
  12. Hey BHF, If you could get this to me by Wednesday, I'd love to buy it for my daughters 10th birthday, which is Friday. She's a huge Prince fan and wanted something autographed. I could send you my FedEx number to help speed along.
  13. What, nobody else from the city? Milwaukee Marshall. Class of 1982. Scarlett Red and Columbia Blue Eagles. I remember the school song, and that's about it: Hey look us over, we're Marshall High, We are the Eagles ever flying high. We've got the spirit, we've got the pep. We've got the team that's always right in step. There's probably more to the song, but that's all I remember after 26 years. I think Marshall might be a specialty school now. Or a prison.
  14. I'm in a much better place this year mentally than I was last August concerning the Brewers. Now, as I stated in My Brewers Confessional thread from early July, I still have a hard time picturing the Brewers in the playoffs (probably due to years of conditioning). However, I'm definitely getting the playoff tickets. What's another $5,300; I'd probably just spend it on mortgage payments and food for the kids anyhow.
  15. Well, the packet arrived today: http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s220/rbrandtjen/ps09.jpg
  16. My wife and I were both competitive swimmers, so I enjoy being able to watch swimming during the summer games. The men's 4x100 relay finish was just stunning; Lezak's final leg, especially the last 25m, actually had me yelling and cheering, which is rare. All that being said, I realize most people find watching swimming very boring.
  17. Peavey, yes, you had to provide the items for them to sign (although, for the prices they charged, you think they could throw in an 8 x 10). I primarily got Goal Line Art cards signed, although I did spring for a Namath helmet. The show promoter was selling helmets, footballs, mini helmets, 8x10s amd 16x20s. Plus, a lot of vendors had items for signing. I also saw a lot of people bringing their own unique items, from a Jets Monopoly board to a 4-foot tall Starr statue.
  18. Well, my daughter spent $2 on eight Prince Fielder cards, and some guy from Arkansas spend $1.62 million on a 1909 Honus Wagner. So, somewhere in between those two numbers.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I really do think there is something for everyone and every budget.
  19. It was my first National also; but I doubt it's my last. I attended for a little while on Wednesday afternoon, then most of the day Friday and Saturday. As JimH5 commented, this was by and far the largest and most interesting show I have attended. The urge to impulse buy was incredible, due to the variety of vintage material available. I attended primarily to get autographs of the numerous NFL HOFers in attendance. I added Joe Namath, Jim Brown, Terry Bradshaw, Bob Griese, YA Tittle, Franco Harris, Eric Dickerson, Jack Lambert, George Blanda, John Riggins, Randy White, Roger Wehrli, Jackie Slater and Jackie Smith to my collection. A lot of former Lombardi Packers were also in attendance. I hadn't planned on getting their signatures, as I already have them on a variety of items. However, while perusing the various booths, I ran across some 1960s Sports Illustrated magazines. Well, I didn't resist my impulses too well and ended up with three signed SIs: Starr, Taylor and Hornung, and Gregg and Kramer (carrying Lombardi after Super Bowl II). It was costly, but I'm glad I did it, as they will make very nice displays, and I'll never get that opportunity again. I took my nine-year old daughter with me both days (no, it's not child abuse, I checked). She had a great time to my surprise. And, because she was one of the very few young girls in attendance, led to more interaction with the players, as they were mostly all extra pleasant to her. In fact, Kramer let her wear his Super Bowl ring, which was very cool. She really liked Dickerson and Namath -- who were extremely friendly, as were Griese and Tittle. She also spent a lot of time at the booth featuring one of the old All American Girls Professional Baseball League players. My only other purchases were two Packer decanters from the late 1960s, a Rogers Hornsby Hall of Fame statue from the early 60s, and a 1969 Rolling Stones pennant for my sister-in-law. JimH5, I was also tempted to get a Hornsby cut (from Quality Autographs), but my budget was broken by all the football autographs. Next time, perhaps a Hornsby (I'll start saving now). We spent so much time in line for autographs, I didn't get nearly enough time to thoroughly see all the exhibitors. But from what I did see, it was overwhelming as a collector. One of the best times I've had doing this sort of thing. I, too, will seriously consider Cleveland next year. And, thanks again to BrewCrew25 for helping me out and getting a Biggio autograph on Sunday. And thanks JimH5 for starting this thread, or I never would have known about the National in Chicago.
  20. I'm upset that due to years of conditioning my expectations for the Brewers remained so low despite the 7-0 road trip I can't even get upset enough about the lousy homestand to vent. Maybe this actually belongs in the Silver Lining thread. Or perhaps we need an official Resigned Acceptance thread.
  21. It was nothing more than a temporary bad flashback. Kinda like watching a "Three's Company" rerun. I'm all better now.
  22. What Braun did tonight has Leon Lett potential. I like that. Fun analogy. The posing/staring doesn't bother me anymore (especially when its for the good guys). I guess I just wanted to see the ball clear by 50 feet; it must be my conservative nature.
  23. I thought of that logan; but I can't really vent about going to Cooperstown. Since the Yanks/BoSox play this weekend (which, I swear, they do every time I've gone to Cooperstown) that will be on the TV at the bar we spend most nights at. I got the new MLB app for the iPhone for pitch-by-pitch and video highlights. It'll have to do. But I am gonna miss seeing the games.
  24. Not sure where to put this, so I'm putting it here. I leave at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning for a weekend in Cooperstown. It will be my fourth trip. The previous three years (1999, 2002, 2004) the Brewers weren't good and by the time the Hall of Fame trip came I was in football season mode. This year, coming off a 7-game road sweep and 8-game winning streak, I'll be smiling the whole flight/drive, and wear my Brewers shirt with pride in baseball's Mecca. The Brewers winning makes the trip sooooooo much sweeter (unless they get swept at home this weekend...then look for me in the Vent Thread).
